I have hardly, if ever blamed the ref for our losses. I don't think they are out to get us. I was making a direct statement about those 4 straight penalties after half time.
Just for you, I went back to the tape and here they are . . .
1. Offside penalty in 43rd minute. I don't know how this penalty was awarded considering the man tackled actually runs more than 10 metres before he meets the defense.
2. Penalty for a strip with more than one in the tackle in the 44th minute. Sullivan does strip the ball but he is the only one in the tackle up to the point where the ball comes free. Lomu simultaneously joins the tackle as the ball comes free. Should have been play on and 6 more to Parra.
3. Penalty for the Kimmorley flop on the 5th tackle in the 48th minute. Fair call.
Parra take a 14 - 8 lead by the 51st minute. The sharks have had the ball for 3 tackles. Several full sets are then completed by both sides and just as we look to get some good field position . . .
4. Bickerstaff penalised for not playing the ball correctly in the 57th minute. Now this one can always go either way but Bickerstaff does play the ball with his foot but he doesn't quite get to his feet. Now is this because he didn't make the effort or is it because of the man who didn't clear the ruck and interferes with the man playing the ball. Grey area. Parramatta favoured.
That's the four I have been talking about. The 4 straight. Other than that, I don't think he was great but he seemed fair. Just those 4 that made me think that he favoured them. They scored 10 of their 14 points during that period. Just my opinion. If you think that is a conspiracy then fill your boots.
