Without further ado, here is the 2012 Top 17 1st Grade NRL team according to RLW..

1. Darious Boyd
2. James McManus
3. Junior S'au
4. Timana Tahu
5. Akulia Uate
6. Kurt Gidley
7. Jarrod Mullen
8. Kade Snowden
9 Danny Buderus
10. Evarn Tuimavave
11. Neville Costigan
12. Chris Houston
13. Zeb Taia

14. Joel Edwards
15. Matt Hilder
16. Richie Fa'aose
17. Wes Naiqama

RLW had it right for 2011 - If you remember - and we suffered for not putting on the best team..

Are they right for this year..??

I have reservations..Not a fan of Boyd, but since he's in love with Bennett and can't live without him, we have and and that's pretty much that..

Will Bedsy struggle ala Orford - I dont think so, but Í really do wish him well and hope he's up to it...

Looks like a good team, no doubt there's NSW Cup and Toyota Cup players ready to step up when and if required..
It's a strong side. Boyd will not be another Henry by any stretch. He is a genius at fullback. HIS ABILITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BENNETT. Bennett has merely brought it out of him.

Sau and Tahu are the two best Centres in the squad. Wes went well no doubt last season, however Tahu at top form runs rings around him. Tahu deserves at least 5 games before his position is reviewed IMO.

Your selective use of history makes me laugh.. You wanted Dan Tolar in the team and talked him up all year. How did he go again?

Ironically, despite McDonnell's departure, Kurt goes to halfback it seems so Coastie got half his wish. Literally. Sadly for him we have a superstar fullback who will inevitably show Coastie up as being in denial yet again.

Well this is just the RLW team. We don't actually have confirmation of exactly where Kurt will be playing just yet although the halves is the logical choice given our recruitment

But JW, RLW is coasties bible. IMO CB's onto something as well due RLW not being too dissimilar from the bible. Both are full of stories written by the ignorant minded that some people choose to believe as fact...

I'm starting to wonder if every team on this forum has at least one supporter that is a simpleton. South Sydney have bunniesman, the bulldogs have doggiesbro and the knights have coastbloke.

lmao! In DMC's defense, he comes across as academically smart. He is just a compolsive liar.

CB clearly doesn't tick any boxes when it comes to intelligence. There's a saying by Russell, Bertrand Arthur William that goes - The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

There's also one on ignrance but I'll save that for another day ;)

Interesting to see that Snowden wasn't ruled out due to injury.

Knights stars up for fans' final selection
By BRETT KEEBLE Wed, Dec 28 2011

IN THE MIX: Knights forward Kade Snowden.

THE Knights will have a new NRL All Stars representative next year.
Stage-two voting kicked off at noon yesterday and the four Newcastle players who made the 64-man selection short list were forwards Kade Snowden and Neville Costigan and backs Junior Sa’u and Jarrod Mullen.
Captain Kurt Gidley (2010 and 2011) and NSW and Australian winger Aku Uate (2011) have worn the NRL All Stars colours in previous games.
But Gidley and Uate were left off the list of eligible players for the February 4 pre-season exhibition against the Indigenous All Stars at Skilled Park because they are yet to begin full-blown training with the Knights after off-season surgery.
More than 13,400 fans voted in stage one, which closed at midnight last Friday, to pick four players from each of the 16 NRL clubs.
Knights coach Wayne Bennett, who will be in charge of the NRL All Stars for a third straight season, has since assigned those 64 players into various positions, and fans have until January 18 to nominate a 16-man squad containing one player from each NRL team.
New Zealand and NRL All Stars captain Benji Marshall and interim Australian skipper Cameron Smith are automatic selections, and Bennett will choose two players for the bench to complete the 20-man squad.
“I’ve got to say I am pleased with the names the fans have put forward in stage one of voting, but I think the real challenge lies in this second phase, as there is a lot to consider,” Bennett said.
“In the years gone by the public has delivered me an exceptional team, and I am counting on the fans to do the same in 2012, especially with both sides going into the match with the series level.”
Backs have been divided into fullbacks, outside backs (centres and wingers) and inside backs (five-eighths and halfbacks). Bennett will consider forwards as hookers, tight forwards (front-rowers and second-rowers) and edge forwards (second-rowers or locks who can play on the right or left side).
Utility players have been classified as such because they can cover several positions.
Bennett wants at least three tight forwards in the starting side and the bench to contain two tight forwards, an edge forward, an inside back, an outside back and two utilities.
Snowden topped the stage-one voting for Newcastle players. He has been classified as a tight forward, Costigan qualifies as a tight forward or edge forward, Sa’u an outside back and Mullen an inside back.

We have a lot of young guys who could put their hands up for prop.
It's one position where Bennett could spring some surprises.

Tets

Eddy could move to prop.

Lawrie could get fit and slot right in from game one.

Rochow played prop for most of last season.

Rodney Mason plays prop.

Korbin Sims' brother slotted into firstgrade last year at a similar age.

Sam Anderson is posibly a year or two away.

Schillings might improve a lot with fulltime training.

Even House might move back to prop now that we seem to have too many second rowers.

Geez i thought Evarn was pretty bloody solid for us last season. Not a rep standard prop but did the job.
