The Road Ahead??

We currently are 3 from 9. Allowing for two byes, the eight position cutoff point is usually about 30 points, representing a win in thirteen games for the season. So we need to win 10 out of a remaining 17 games.

On current form, I can see maybe another 7 wins. Those being Parra x 2, Penrith, Broncos, Sharks, Tigers, and the Warriors. That of course would leave us out of the 8.

Have a squizz at the games ahead and see if your predictions are hopefully better than mine.

We've already Fuct our chances with the loss against manly and titans. Those close losses cost us last year and they'll cost us again

Parra beat the Bronco's who have beaten the Dragons. I would not be counting them as certain wins but you never know what happens. It's is going to be a long season.

same as last year, dont let the season go completely to waste, blood more kids, give Duges a run, we still might make the 8 but dont make that the goal imo, have some freaking fun on the football field.

And still not ruling out Williams or similar as a mid-season buy.

I'd say Rev's post is fairly positive OT. And I would echo the sentiment. Blood some young fellas, and have some bloody fun whilst playing some good footy! They all look so miserable atm. Spose that's what 3-6 does to you though.

Win all remaining home games plus the two byes would see us finish on 28, but that's only just on the edge of 8th spot, and a dramatic improvement in our for and against would also be necessary.

Not me mate, I hav'nt gone to ground...I've gone to the fridge to get another coldy......for me I will start thinking positive when we sign a half back...then I might start getting a little twitchy
Yeah agree with this...looking to next year, have conceded victory this year, but we need to blood some new young players and buy some hard hard hitting forwards that aren't afraid to take it up and not drop the ball!...can drive you to drink watching them play!!

10 from 17 is doable if we play really well although there is no easy game out there for a team like us.

My hit prediction.... 28 pts will def get you in.

It has been as low as 26 on for and against in the past. i think the bottom half of the comp will bunch greatly, whilst the top 3 or maybe 4 will streak away. That Augers well for a low cut-off needed for the 8.

Pts for and against could come back and haunt us.

I say change approach to the rest of our games this year.

Relax - abandon the goal of making the 8 for this year. Set the goals for 2014 and make the remainder of this year the road to get there.

Instead, experiment, experiement with young talent... peleeeeeeez Mr Price !!! Afterall, player and coach movements are no longer an uncertainty.

that way they'll have the most fun - and ironically maybe, that's the best way that they WILL still make the 8 this year.

Or maybe I'm just still trying to cheer myself up after yesterday's pain.
That one hurt real bad!

I say bring back the external coach we had for 2 weeks. At least with this guy on board there were good formations and our players seem to know what to do.

I think the cut-off for the top 8 will be lower, more like 26 points. The difference between 5th position (knights) and 14th (Parra) is only 4 points.

We are guaranteed 4 points for the two byes so you could say we are on 10 competition points. That leaves 15 remaining games for us to play. 8 wins from 15 would give us 26 points. On current form 8 from 15 will be a massive challenge. My head says just missing out, my heart says just scraping in.

Where are our positive thinkers, gone to ground?

I'm still here, although my positivity took some big hits on Sunday!

I agree with the sentiments here, hopefully Pricey is sitting down with the 'senior playing group' and discussing there same thing - i.e. where do we go from here. And with any luck, someone says something like 'let's keep Quinlan in there, he needs the experience' or 'lets give Drinkwater a shot, start grooming him for first grade' or even 'hey, if Coops is out again, maybe Vaivai can fill in'...

Alternately, we give the ball to Dugan every play and cross our fingers!

My prediction??? Josh Dugan adding that much needed spark out wide. Adam Quinlan stays in first grade on the wing or centre if Cooper is still injured. Brett Morris comes back in 2 weeks and with him and Jason Nightingale on the wings, Quinlan in the centres we suddenly look improved. Hell if Canberra can turn things around quickly, then why can't the Dragons??? All we need is Soward to perhaps take on the line and start converting tries and all of a sudden we can win the close games. Only problem is our forwards are not getting a good roll on. We need Stockwell and Weyman to play like they did against Manly each week. keep the faith people.

Shame about Rangi not coming ,would have been the shot in the arm to kickstart the season.
