Dark horse tag, and glue factory smell?

We might be smelling like roses on Sunday! Some escape act that would be, after being effectively out of the running after the Roosters hiding.

When was the last time we did that sort of thing at the biz end of the season? Yep, 2011.

It could well be 'look over your shoulder' time for the rest of the teams in the competition.

Meh, I don't think we hold any fears for Manly, Souths or the Roosters tbh... might add the Cowboys to that list...

Melbourne are, of course, always worried about us

Yeah, I don't see this mob going on a 2011/2008 run.

Those teams weren't perfect and surprised everyone in the playoffs, but they weren't as shaky as we are right now

Soward was close to being put on report for desent, or whatever the ruling is. I don't want his sour puss anywhere near to wrecking our dreams next week.

Sent to the bin you mean? After Ennis's behaviour the other night? And Lyon's last week? He had a genuine beef but the ref should have sent him off, yes. It would have brought the entire running of the latter stages of that game under much more scrutiny.

Either the Cowpats have peaked or were thinking of next week. Regardless, it's a NSW Cup side that took them to the limit. Doesn't make our win against the Sharks seem as bad now

That was a great game, sharkies hung in there. Sosaia Feki looks the goods...future kiwi wing or center?

The game result no big difference to us though...

NRL.com say this of the warriors:

Warriors: To make the eight the men from across the ditch need to beat Penrith and hope Brisbane lose, or if both sides lose they still need an eight-point improvement in their differential compared to Brisbane – unless the Eels win

That's a crock innit? we beat Penrith we are in the top 8 no matter what right?

Yes that's a crock because if Brisbane win, we will beat Storm on points differential, simple we win and we are in.

Feki played in the centres for the Warriors Juniors, I would give him a year at the sharks as a centre before throwing him there as a centre. Of him and Likiliki, Feki was the less spectacular centre, but with better defensive reads.

Our performances around the Sharks one clarify how badly we're (we were?) going

Yeah I rate him. I follow his progress.

The edge he has over the wingers we kept is his defensive brain.

Much more rounded player than our wingers. That's the wing type I prefer. I just put far more weighting on the defensive side of things with wingers than the attacking side.

If you think about it Wing is a exposed position, possibly no positions apart from Center /Wing have so many coaches targeting them with specific tactics.

The Warriors edges have been their Achilles heel for the longest time. They have tried the model of having super weapons on the wing protected by defensive centers.

To my way of thinking that model puts the horse before the cart.

Your attack should be built from the centers....with ball handling and tackling being the criteria for a winger ( dealing with kicks etc ).

Agree 100%... that being said, without our wingers we'd have little in the way of go forward

I'm astounded at some of the misguided information around the permutations of this week's matches - mostly around if the Broncs win. Either everyone thinks that's no chance of happening (fair) or they think the Storm have immunity.

For nrl.com to get it wrong is pretty pee poor. It's not that hard.

Next year will be interesting with Ryan Hoffman specialising in hit up #2 for the Storm.
The Warriors will be confronted with choices if a Forward takes over the hit up role on tackle two.

Many think Manu for example would not be lost for meters were he converted to a 115kg forward.

This has been thrashed to death.

The point of difference to that debate will be Ryan Hoffman negating the ' starting the sets' part of rationalising Big Wingers.

It's a genuine factor to consider change.
