Normally I would say that juniors are not over rated. Im proud of all of Easts juniors both local and Feeder club developed. Each year I donate to Bondi United Junior RLFC. And I dont even live in the Eaetern Suburbs. When my son is old enough, I will sign him up with one of the 4 Easts junior clubs, even if I have to travel across Sydney to get him to his game...just to wear that Rooster over his heart. Juniors mean a lot to me personally. I wish we could get back Coogee and Randwick that were pinched by Souths. No I dont think juniors are over rated. But I can respect League Experts opinion because in todays game, there are no incentives to promote junior development in the NRL. No concessions and no rewards. This can be classed as over rating juniors for what they really are in todays game. Everyone, including clubs with huge junior bases buy from outside. We do it and you do it.

Let's say your son makes it in Rugby League for the roosters (and all the best for him in the future), and he's got the world at his feet.

Penrith turns around and makes him an offer to join their ranks. He accepts. How would you feel???

Hi guys, i just found this site and was going thru the topics on the board. This topic is a classic, it gave me such a gr8 laugh. Rooster Cogburn ur a diehard fan which is cool, everything runs in cycles mate.......... at this time the comp cant afford to lose fans because their clubs dont exist. Im sure that clubs that are even wealthier than the Roosters - Bulldogs & Panthers (remember the panthers, they have a junior comp also) can afford to spend up too. But they didnt vote for the increase, geez we wonder why??????? Lets see where the Roosters are in 5 years, they where the transit lounge for years in the past, they are finally having a bit of success and good luck to them. But the tail dosent wag the dog.

I hope this isnt classed as hysterical or drivel............. we have a gr8 product in RL that was damaged immensely by the vision of Ribot, Murdoch, Cowley and Pay TV. No more hijacks.

We finished runners-up in 1980, minor premiers and 3rd place in 1981, and third place again in 1982. Missed the semi finals in a play off for 5th spot in 1983. That it not indicative of poor recruitment ...

I don't think your statement is accurate - although we did make some purchases in 1984 who turned out to be disastrous, namely the Sorenson boys.
