Putting Young’s coaching aside, I think this an absolutely genius appointment by Flanno politically.

So we know the St George side of the board were hesitant on Flanno so you can imagine it wouldn’t take much for them to jump at the first opportunity to knife him in the back. However, if Flanno ties himself to Young who is basically the St George’s golden child it will make them think twice about any backroom shenanigans.

What Flanno is building will take time and there is almost certainly short-term pain ahead. What we need is cool heads at the top to give Flanno the stability and time to build the club back up. What he certainly doesn’t need is to be constantly looking over his shoulder after every loss we suffer next year.

If what you are suggesting is correct (and I'm not suggesting it isnt) Flanno is a lot smarter than I thought he was (not that I thought he was a dummy).

Not sure Ben understands that part of the appeal in coming to a new club is running out alongside their marquee players.

Michael Chammas on SMH has reported that Dean Young will be coming back to Saints as an Assistant coach. It should be formalised and announced over the weekend. He worked with Shane in the past and they have a great relationship.

I think it is a good move and I am sure he will improve the defence. I don't think it can get any worse to be honest but he did well at the Cows and will bring that experience to the Dragons.

I'm OK with this. Flanno's casting a wide net with his support network. Andrew Gray and Dan Lawson have high credentials both inside and outside the club and now Young junior has inside knowledge and maybe pull in a pretty good Cowgirls set-up. I'm also OK with Flanno's media role also moving forward. It can't be any worse that the nothing we currently get from club. Want a good example? Check out our wonderful Dragons website. It's mid-season and there are still only blank silhouette figures for our KOE players. Even better, Sione Finau is shown twice and miraculously with different stats. One Sione has 13 appearances and 6 tries and the other Sione has 4 appearances 5 tries. How's that!! Couldn't be bothered to update player faces from blank silhouettes.What an incompetent farce of a club we currently follow.

Surely there is someone competent enough within the club that can get photographs of all players and put them on the website and update and input accurate stats. Is it a close enough is good enough mentality for the admin people just like our squad of players?

I hate dissing on my team at any time but updating player profiles shouldn't really be hard. Pretty insulting to the players and their families I would think also. I can understand the BOD not wanting to show their faces given that would put a face to their incompetence.
