I doubt it would be a straight swap for Tino and Fifitia. I'd say Titans will take over Hunt's contract and we will take over the player's contracts who want to come with Holbrook to the Dragons.

We need to do this deal asap and then test our halves and fullback candidates as I'm still not sold on Sullivan or Sloan being ready for first grade. In any event I can't see a Sullivan/Amone halves combination in 2024 and I would rather see V Holmes from the Cowboys as our fullback.

Hunt has now come out publicly with the reason for his super sooking over wanting to leave. There are two specific items, the sacking of Griffin, which we all guessed, but this I had not heard about, the inability by our recruitment team not to sign Viliame Kikau before Gould swept on him. Hunt also stated he was dissatisfied with club management.

I think that Hunt needs to quit playing and become a football manager/recruiter. He wanted Hook to stay and for us to sign Kikau and every other Tom, Dick and Harry. He should change his occupation and hang up his boots. The bloody hide of him wanting to dictate who should come and who should go and maybe even look after the salary cap.

As I have said, he is a nuisance and wants his own way like a spoiled brat. Who the hell does he think he is? It's not like he has won half a dozen premierships - he hasn't even won one and will never win one unless he plays with the other little sooks in primary school. Michael Chammas on SMH has reported that Dean Young will be coming back to Saints as an Assistant coach. It should be formalised and announced over the weekend. He worked with Shane in the past and they have a great relationship.

I think it is a good move and I am sure he will improve the defence. I don't think it can get any worse to be honest but he did well at the Cows and will bring that experience to the Dragons.

What do you expect when in the past we have mostly recruited other clubs rejects. Even if we fail in snaring Tino, I think under Flanno we will see the best from one reject Zane Musgrove, while Alec Tuitavake, Viliame Fifita, plus local juniors the Couchman twins, Josh Coric, Jacob Webster, Corey Ackers may all flourish under his tutilage. So we wont have to go looking for outsider forwards for some time, hopefully.

Putting Young’s coaching aside, I think this an absolutely genius appointment by Flanno politically.

So we know the St George side of the board were hesitant on Flanno so you can imagine it wouldn’t take much for them to jump at the first opportunity to knife him in the back. However, if Flanno ties himself to Young who is basically the St George’s golden child it will make them think twice about any backroom shenanigans.

What Flanno is building will take time and there is almost certainly short-term pain ahead. What we need is cool heads at the top to give Flanno the stability and time to build the club back up. What he certainly doesn’t need is to be constantly looking over his shoulder after every loss we suffer next year.

Questions
Why would Tino come to Dragons for 800K?
Why would Fafita come to Dragons for 900K?
Why would Holmes come to Dragons for 800K?
These players can make more than that AND be challenging for premierships with other clubs. Top 8 clubs are offering them more money than that.
The only way we get an elite player of those 3 players profile is by paying way overs, and I mean waaaaay overs.
1.3 million per player on long term deals.
So unless you want to ruin us with 4 million dollars on 3 players then forget those kind of blokes.
And Flannigan at 500K? Are you sure? He’s playing reserve grade for dogs and has been let go by a number of other clubs already.
If he comes to dragons it should be on 350K as a backup half or utility. But you are right in that he’s the kind of player that we will get, not Holmes, Tino, Fafita.

I'd say the prices I quoted for These high-quality players are about right.
As for the reasons why they would come to St George Illawarra you should not further than the reasons Hunt is leaving. Hunt is on the record saying he did not want Griffin sacked (the coach).
The next contract Hunt will be signing is of a longer term than that offered by us.
The other reason Hunt is leaving is because we promised to buy some good players and did not.

The Dragons have a history of not keeping promises to players before signing a contract.
