A younger me could not have dreamt up a worse nightmarish outcome for this club if I had tried my hardest. Thought the Mary years were unbearable but the post Mary years have been even more diabolical, farcical and steeped in filth.

Everything has turned to mush and, as a fan, you don’t get much of a feeling that quality players will be knocking on the door of a club whose captain and only rep player is kicking and screaming to get out of. A truckload of quality recruitment and proper coaching is what is needed. Nothing more nothing less.

Flanagan was not the board’s first choice or even second or probably even third for coach but he is the best of the lot. He will try to turn our fortunes around but ‘try’ is the operative word. You can’t help but wonder ‘how long until things go pear shape’? Butting heads with the soulless board and what not. That’s become the typical mindset of the average Dragons fan sadly.

I used to see the word ‘hope’ used a lot in relation to the fortunes of the team but you can feel the hope sucked out of the joint. Feel like the new coach is walking into a mess no coach can contend with, no matter their ability or mindset. We are rotten at the core.

Anyway BigRig, just sharing that I empathise with you. I feel completely defeated after years of voicing my disagreement with what has and hasn’t been going on at the Dragons.

I'm sure Flanno knows what he is doing and will make the right choices. However, I have always thought that an NRL team needs two marquee players in the spine and a big fast pack of forwards who can defend.

I actually thought Musgrove deserved more games in the NRL but obviously Flanno has a different path, can only go with the coaches decisions and lets see what we get.

This is what I want to be reading. Hopefully just the start. Those 3 mentioned players should have been putting pressure on others to retain their spot which is what happens with strong teams. Instead they get their chance in the team and do very little.

like the sound of Ipape and coach using his connections. Screw the 4 point win in a cripple fight - this is the best news.

to increase the probability of our success in 2024 the $500k pa that Birdy is on and the $500k pa that F Molo are on ie $1mill should be used more effectively

Thats $2.350 mill minimum

We need to keep Ben Hunt otherwise who the hell is going to join of note if Bud and Amone are the halves. They are not there yet as a combo to lead a top4 team....... no way.

I wouldnt join WITHOUT Hunt as the half and a couple other players of note joining at same time to fix our pack

Talented yes, young yes....... but not leaders of a FG team yet

My idea on one of the main causes of the Dragons poor form is that the team has far too many players with bad facial hair. Maybe Braun should sponsor the club? Just my opinion.

Liddle has done a good job as hooker, why are people wanting another one? Especially the elite ones costing 800+. Panthers have Mitch Kenny, Warriors have egan. Both are very solid hookers but not top tier yet they're both playing important roles in premiership contending teams. Ditto with broncos with paix & walters. All you need from the hooker is to provide good service, solid defensively & the odd dummy half run imo.

Have a look at the tigers who signed Api, yet they're worse than us.

Top 4 teams all have gun halfbacks, that's what we need to build around. Ben Hunt hasn't worked because we haven't put the right pieces around him & he's not a pure controlling halfback. He's more of a runner.

Liddle has shown qualities you find in hookers in a top 4 team. Good service, defensively solid & has a bit of a running game. Imo getting another hooker would be a mistake , like we've made with our forward pack. Getting players in an area where we have depth, we've done it by getting too many bench forwards & not enough starting quality forwards.

Liddle is a big mins starting quality hooker, he's also extended his stay at the dragons. Imo it would be poor use of cap space & roster spot by trying to get Robson. If he stays injury free then I can see his game further elevating under Flanno.

Regardless of talent, Amone might not play NRL again & as much as I have high hopes for Sullivan, he's been massively injury prone. If we were to lose Hunt then I hope we get a starting quality halfback in return at the very least.
