There is a video on YouTube of Chariots of Fire scoring 10 tries in a game in the super league. He was very fast when he played out here

I recall the Dragons coach Roy Masters saying , at the time when Martin Offiah and Ricky Walford were playing for St.George on the wings “ They are my 2 black Porches “ in reference to their remarkable speed . They were so deadly against the opposition and scored numerous tries for the team .

I think you mean Brian Smith, Roy was gone by the time Chariots arrived.

Thanks , you are certainly correct dragonhysteria , I could had sworn it was that old silver-tounged rogue Roy Masters .

I discovered that the Bulldogs coach Warren Ryan had the Belmore groundsmen water the sideline inwards to approx. 20 , so much so that it was like a quagmire all to stop Walford and Offiah from scorching down the field .
Apparently it worked as neither team scored a try in the match which ended up as a 6 all draw - imformation supplied courtesy of Google .

Ha ! Your right there Overseas dragon , what a hell of a difference between them . By the way , speaking of the P76’s I never mind them , thought that they were a good design , but the name , surely they could had come up with a name to replace the model number or whatever it stood for .

Gareth, my memory is not as good as it once was but I recall this being said of Warren Ryan as coach of Wests at Campbelltown last round 1991 with Chariots and Ricky on the wings. We needed to win to make the semis but we didn't.

As a youngster in 1976, I remember going with my father to look at the new P76 and thinking, what a sack.

The square shape type thingy of it all.
I did like the midnight blue on the top of the range model though.

Dad settled for a second-hand Chrysler by Chrysler with a big 365 Hemi v8 and power steering so light, you could turn the steering wheel with your little pinky.

Ahhhh, those were the days.

Hey, you could fit a 44 gallon drum in the trunk of a P76, it was a selling point.
Quite how many people needed to drive around with a 44 gallon drum in the boot is beside the point.

Gents , what can I say except yes , yes and yes again to each of your replies . Warren Ryan did have a bag of tricks and the P76 well I thought that it was a good car .

And OKB1 , Chrysler’s oh how I used to drool over them safari wagons , unfortunately could never afford one . Had to settle for a hand painted FB Holden wagon , ah well they were indeed the days , great days with great old cars and great rugby league players .

I remember Dad looking at a Sandman, needed a car for work after his ute followed the boat into the water at Taren Point. We sat in the Sandman, crawled through it talked prices and I was so excited, listening to Frank Hyde on the 4 speaker stereo.
I was shattered driving home in the Kingswood ute he ended up buying, listening to Frank on the 2 Speaker stereo.
