The Rumours Thread

Like most, I agree this Hunt development is a necessary step forward for the club that had to happen. Chances of our culture inclining now have improved tenfold as Ben just seemed like a cloud over development - despite his many talents. Time will help prove this and it a very liberating experience to move him on. He didn’t care for our club and that’s the bottom line.

That being said, he will definitely go on to strengthen an opposition team if used correctly ie as a utility/ dummy half who has no leadership role. That is a fact some may find hard to swallow.

Now to state the obvious for the umpteenth time. This joy will quickly turn to dismay if we don’t sign some quality players pronto. It’s one thing to free up the space and the money but it’s a whole different story to fill it. I’m open to all the options being discussed - Gutherson, Atkinson, O’Sullivan. I don’t see any internal solutions at this point and am super curious to see in which direction we go. We have money to burn and a coach who I know will use it wisely if he can only convince prospects to invest!

I was initially against the signing of Gutho. But I've stewed on it a bit and I don't think it's a bad signing, depending on how much we pay for him and also when I found out that Gutho played most of this season taking needles and whatnot because of the injuries he was carrying, so he's not as cooked as I thought if he stays healthy. I don't know how he even stayed on the field this year with knowledge of his torn quad and everything, but that in itself speaks volumes of his character. Parra were in the shitter and he lost a coach who he valued, but he didn't spit no damn dummy. Gutho kept on and kept showing up and being a leader. And if Parra are foolish enough to get rid of him and not keep him on for morale for the next few years as a minimum, then that's our gain.

This is the exact 4 I have penciled in for our remaining 4 spots also.. just need to make sure they are all for 2025... that will fill up most of the 2-3million we have free.

From there if we have funds and can clear Rava/Lawrie, then we can think about it.. but its getting those big chess pieces signed first thats the key... and it does leave us a tiny bit light with the forwards, but we extend the Couchies on top.. and then we keep an ear out in the future.
Momentum is an amazing thing.

Any extra funds absolutely go to front loading Rava and Blake.

Sounds like Gutho is a done deal. If so with the addition of Lodge and a decent halfback, we’ve finally got something to look forward to next year. With the stench of Hunt gone, I’m a lot more optimistic of our chances next year.
I feel like I’ve been nauseous 🤢 for so many years and I’ve finally had a huge, relieving spew 🤮 And now I feel cleaned out and better 😌.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Such sweet relief.

What Gutho is, more than anything else, is a far king SOLDIER.

Bring him on

Breaking News

Clint Gutherson is expected to request an immediate release tomorrow to join St George Illawarra on a 3 year deal

He is also likely to captain the club
Hoping ur right on this one cause it makes sense, but flanno did a rly good job of selling a different narrative in his interview tonight, ie that we should watch this space over the next 'month' re: gutho, and he was very impressed with cooks leadership.. It didn't sound like anything was done yet.. But let's hope he was underpromising / over delivering.. And he still needs Parra to meet and agree to it.. So that could be a next week thing..

In the interview with Webb

Outside
Of the club
Re options in the halves

Sounded like LKT maybe considered more highly than we expect ?

I would suspect for 2025 this maybe the most likely solution of Gutho is FB and running a stack of attack
LKT is obviously highly regarded internally to rise like he did.

We get Atkinson as well, I might finally go to bed a happy Dragon again.

Maybe now we will have a captain who isn't scared to question the ref's when we get the dud calls.
I'm assuming our next Captain no matter who it is wont do some of things our last one did. I would still like possibly Sua to be co-captain, its weird having a player come into the side that has never had anything to do with the Dragons and automatically be captain. I'm sure even if he isnt captain he will be able to show his leadership qualities. Cmon Gutho pull the trigger mate !!!
