People are saying Blake looks slimmer and fitter. I hope he is buying in and will provide his best efforts in 2025. It will help a lot if he just decides to make 2025 his year of best fitness and continual extra 1% efforts throughout his times on-field. That is all we want from him.
Given that Hunt received a scathing end of season review from Flanno, I can only imagine Lawrie was told a few home truths as well. Might explain him looking fitter and looking after his weight in the off season. Could be a case of too little too late. Might be the rocket he needed, I can’t see it though

A lot of sports is about feelings and mindset. SOS and finals games prove that. Players are jumping out of their skins and outperforming themselves. A great coach knows how to tap into player psychologies so as to improve their intent and their effort areas throughout the season.

As fas as Blake goes, we know he can do better than he did in 2024, even if it is in reserve grade. It is up to him.

Probably right. If the truth is ‘scathing’, so be it. Some appreciate the truth, some don’t. The bigger the ego the bigger the hurt.

Have to admit I heard Ryles speak for the first time a couple of days ago and was decidedly underwhelmed, it was one cliche after another.

Yeah, I saw the presser and he was nervous.
Having met the bloke, he is no dummy.

It's not aimed at you, but I don't get the infatuation with Jason. Personally, as long is he flops against us I couldn't give two hoots. He was a great servant for us over 9 seasons. Sure he has his brain snaps, but he was also a fine player who ended up playing for State and Country.

Agreed.

It's a bit like the obsession with Hunt and Lomax.

Apart from whether wherever Hunt lands and the possiblity of that squeezing someone worthwhile out, I couldn't give a rat's.

They are both dead to me...

Stirling has had almost nothing to do with the club post his retirement

He know says he’s glad to be onboard as part of “the new era” for Parramatta.

Isn’t Ryles the new era?

If he didn’t believe in Ryles do you think he would stick his head up now?
Who cares?

Jase has got The Undeachievers band f 03-08 back together.

Rylzy, The Slap Slap Boy and The Sauce Squirt Marn.

Yeah after I posted I was thinking along similar lines and may have been a bit hasty, it is his first time as head coach and having to deal with media, but bloody hell he was giving the cliches a workout though.
I was a massive fan of Rylsey, don`t worry, Roy Masters once described him as a "schooner drinker" lol, no middies for Rylsey, I also remember the time he was picked for Oz for the first time and there was doubts whether they`d fly to England because of Sept.11, I remember him saying I`ll bloody play it in Afghanistan if I have to.
BTW, I want all the ex-St. George players coaching or assisting in the NRL to do well because I like to think secretly that they`d all like to come back to coach the Saints one day and bring their success with them.

Nice post.

I first met him at Brighton at a Saints function when he just got selected for Aus. Rylesy was doing the rounds at sponsors tables and we ended up having a great chat. Lovely bloke and honestly, smarter than he appears.

Met him several times since and am a fan of his.
