People are saying Blake looks slimmer and fitter. I hope he is buying in and will provide his best efforts in 2025. It will help a lot if he just decides to make 2025 his year of best fitness and continual extra 1% efforts throughout his times on-field. That is all we want from him.
Given that Hunt received a scathing end of season review from Flanno, I can only imagine Lawrie was told a few home truths as well. Might explain him looking fitter and looking after his weight in the off season. Could be a case of too little too late. Might be the rocket he needed, I can’t see it though

A lot of sports is about feelings and mindset. SOS and finals games prove that. Players are jumping out of their skins and outperforming themselves. A great coach knows how to tap into player psychologies so as to improve their intent and their effort areas throughout the season.

As fas as Blake goes, we know he can do better than he did in 2024, even if it is in reserve grade. It is up to him.

Probably right. If the truth is ‘scathing’, so be it. Some appreciate the truth, some don’t. The bigger the ego the bigger the hurt.

Have to admit I heard Ryles speak for the first time a couple of days ago and was decidedly underwhelmed, it was one cliche after another.

Yeah, I saw the presser and he was nervous.
Having met the bloke, he is no dummy.

It's not aimed at you, but I don't get the infatuation with Jason. Personally, as long is he flops against us I couldn't give two hoots. He was a great servant for us over 9 seasons. Sure he has his brain snaps, but he was also a fine player who ended up playing for State and Country.

Agreed.

It's a bit like the obsession with Hunt and Lomax.

Apart from whether wherever Hunt lands and the possiblity of that squeezing someone worthwhile out, I couldn't give a rat's.

They are both dead to me...

Stirling has had almost nothing to do with the club post his retirement

He know says he’s glad to be onboard as part of “the new era” for Parramatta.

Isn’t Ryles the new era?

If he didn’t believe in Ryles do you think he would stick his head up now?
Who cares?

Jase has got The Undeachievers band f 03-08 back together.

Rylzy, The Slap Slap Boy and The Sauce Squirt Marn.

Yeah after I posted I was thinking along similar lines and may have been a bit hasty, it is his first time as head coach and having to deal with media, but bloody hell he was giving the cliches a workout though.
I was a massive fan of Rylsey, don`t worry, Roy Masters once described him as a "schooner drinker" lol, no middies for Rylsey, I also remember the time he was picked for Oz for the first time and there was doubts whether they`d fly to England because of Sept.11, I remember him saying I`ll bloody play it in Afghanistan if I have to.
BTW, I want all the ex-St. George players coaching or assisting in the NRL to do well because I like to think secretly that they`d all like to come back to coach the Saints one day and bring their success with them.

Nice post.

I first met him at Brighton at a Saints function when he just got selected for Aus. Rylesy was doing the rounds at sponsors tables and we ended up having a great chat. Lovely bloke and honestly, smarter than he appears.

Met him several times since and am a fan of his.

Because he has a contract and earning big $$ and counted in the squad
Does not preclude him for playing Reggies

I think the confusion here is even if Rava plays the entire year in reserve grade (which he 100% will if he stays), hes still contracted in our Top 30, i.e. only 17 players (+18th man) fit in 1st grade, the rest will play reserves.

Unfortunately Rava (and Lawrie) are contracted for 2025 and 2026.. otherwise it wouldnt be as big a deal to write them off.. my feeling is by april or june this year, if neither player is even close to seeing 1st grade, maybe they will be more open to a UK move to rekindle their careers.

If im honest though, I dont even think Rava plays reserve grade unless hes in some form.. there are other guys who need those development wing positions (assuming we arent carrying injuries).
Thanks for the clarification gents, i thought i was on the wrong track & it seemed way too simple to solve the issue. Goes back to silly long term signings for average players which Flanno will not do. Cheers

Great post by you

I too want our ex players to succeed in coaching especially those that represented our club with honour over many years.

All the muppets in here wanting ex players to be duds as coaches or break down with injury if playing for other clubs shit me to tears.

I truly want other clubs to play well and for us to play even better.

I want Ryles to fail miserably, I want his coaching career over within 3 years.
I could not stand him as a player for us, and now he has knocked us back to go coach Parramatta? And I’m supposed to be supportive of him and hope he does well with another team?
Paaaalease!!!!
Give me a break, Hope Parramatta win 3 consecutive spoons with him.

Not sure what any of that means OT.
But what is clear, is that a man who is not supportive of the St George Illawarra coach in away way, is telling people in a St George Illawarra forum that they should be supportive of the new coach for Parramatta.
I’d tell you to take a good hard look at yourself but I know you won’t, you never ever do.

That is not what I’m saying at all.

I’m not asking anyone to support him I’m just saying I believe he will be a good coach and I wish him no malice or ill will.

IMO to underestimate him as so many are doing is to put it bluntly “stupid”.

If he proves to be a good coach then I hope our coach is better.

If S F is the real deal then surely it won’t matter how good the other coaches are.

IMO people who continually wish other coaches and their teams bad fortune are the ones who have underlying doubts about our coach.

Nothing like a bit of 'reverse phycology'

You know the 'O' in OMO = opinion
That's what forums are for - open opinion

Why must u insult all who have a different opinion

"stupid" IMO.
