I have been following the debate on whether to resign Coach Flano ASAP or wait to see whether the improvements continue throughout 2025. I believe that the argument to sign him now is the best approach primarily because players appear to want to play under his coaching.

Our best chance of attracting quality recruits for 2026 and onwards is to be able to demonstrate that we have locked in a professional coach who has experienced success and is going to be here for the term of their contract.
Yep..after watching Flanno on James Graham podcasts (great insight to how he is feeling / thinking) I am starting to turn towards agreeing. Especially when he mentions most coaches need 3-5 years to get the squad more so the spine they want that is theirs and to rid of the inherited mess / unwanted and get your cap going to where you want it to be and looking forward.
He even has said a few times he has players that were Griffin's signings not his.
Gus started at 2021 at the Dogs looking at what they had..2 years later none of their Top 30 remained
3 years is not long enough for Flanno to make us a threat or for everyone to sit up and say hmmm
He no doubt will need longer. So another 2 year extension wont hurt for starters
Give him some confidence and stability / certainty to go hard or even harder now and make it his.
We just need to stay on board the rocky ride and support it.
If it fails our club did its best and we go for another powerful or well credentialed coach
Talk Ivan out of retirement as that may happen in 12 months..reportedly :)

I bet you supported hook hunt young and doust best you find another club only room here for real dragon supporters. That is people with positive out looks.
So you get to be the judge of who people can support or not support and who you can be negative about or not lol

Obviously by your post you were no supporter of Hook, Hunt, Young and Doust so that type of negativity is ok and you can still be a “real dragon supporter” but say anything about S F and ooh aah you have to immediately follow someone else.

How positive were your thoughts during the Chinless, McFookknuckle & Hook years not to mention the Young coaching cameo or did you just not follow us during those desperate times?

It’s actually quite normal to support a club but not be happy with some of its players or staff so you need to just act normal yourself and cut out the bullshit trying to “out” perfectly legitimate supporters of the club.

Whilst on the future the club need to announce it get our CEO started asap
They decided that Ryan was not our man fine
But what annoys me is that they are letting him stay to April
In what world do they think anyone is going to do the best job possible and bounce into work with the future in mind in lieu of getting done what has to be done to get his pay
No different to a coach. Did they not learn from Hook experience.. infuriates me.. cut ties and replace now

Would Webb have a contract that expires in April and that is why he is staying on? I'm not sure.

The argument of whether to re-sign Flanno early or not is an interesting one. On one hand, his current contract puts a natural pressure on him to immediately improve performances and where we sit on the ladder. This could mean decision-making thats in conflict with a longer term plan if he knew he had the time (say 5 years). Extending him sooner means he can have that longer outlook, but we also don't want to be stuck again if he isn't the right coach for us. Being better than the peanut or Hook is not a good bar to be judging a coach by.

Personally, I think he did a good job with probably the worst squad in the comp last year. He seems to be building in the right direction, and I think he will get us there. We shouldn't rush to sign him just yet though, the board should just let him know they believe he is the man for us but make a call towards the end or at the end of next season.

They dont care about contracts anywhere else. Honour it but pay him out, get someone in asap and move forward with a plan for the next 5-10 years.
It is not about what is legal, what is best for the club and future if he is not doing a good enough job which obviously history has proven and the BOD thinks.. not quite good enough to grow us back to where we need to
He got his notice months ago. Too long to say in the actual chair. Make a decision they have their target and get him or her in now. It is not as if they are interviewing 100 applicants. They have had 3 months to search, time for a decision.
A good new "shrewd"CEO will have a good look at our whole behind the scenes structure which needs a change at senior level starting with GM who has to be involved with cap / recruitment
It sounds like to me, the clubs recruitment / retention committee and boss supporting Flanno is still not fully sorted as Millard is doing a lot of focus on pathways stuff

I’m kinda of the opinion that Flanno is our last chance. We’ve been through so much crap since Bennett left that if Flanno can’t get us up the ladder and playing finals then I don’t think anyone can.
If we missed the finals next couple of years and they let him go for some other plank coach like Barrett, Dean, Hornbag etc then I’d give it up, get myself a Stan Sport subscription and go for the Waratahs or some shit.
Thankfully that won’t be happening however as Flanno is the messiah and we are finals bound.
