Yep..after watching Flanno on James Graham podcasts (great insight to how he is feeling / thinking) I am starting to turn towards agreeing. Especially when he mentions most coaches need 3-5 years to get the squad more so the spine they want that is theirs and to rid of the inherited mess / unwanted and get your cap going to where you want it to be and looking forward.I have been following the debate on whether to resign Coach Flano ASAP or wait to see whether the improvements continue throughout 2025. I believe that the argument to sign him now is the best approach primarily because players appear to want to play under his coaching.
Our best chance of attracting quality recruits for 2026 and onwards is to be able to demonstrate that we have locked in a professional coach who has experienced success and is going to be here for the term of their contract.
He even has said a few times he has players that were Griffin's signings not his.
Gus started at 2021 at the Dogs looking at what they had..2 years later none of their Top 30 remained
3 years is not long enough for Flanno to make us a threat or for everyone to sit up and say hmmm
He no doubt will need longer. So another 2 year extension wont hurt for starters
Give him some confidence and stability / certainty to go hard or even harder now and make it his.
We just need to stay on board the rocky ride and support it.
If it fails our club did its best and we go for another powerful or well credentialed coach
Talk Ivan out of retirement as that may happen in 12 months..reportedly
