Dragons closing in on signature of Warriors speedster

The club is now closing in on the signature of New Zealand Warriors flyer Setu Tu, Zero Tackle understands.
His explosive finishing and versatility, with the ability to play on either wing, at centre, or even fullback, saw several clubs scout and approach his management, as previously revealed by Zero Tackle.
Now, sources close to the situation have confirmed Tu is “close to” securing a two-year deal with the Dragons, with negotiations understood to be in the final stages.
Tu, who starred for the Warriors' NSW Cup side in 2025, has been on the radar of multiple NRL clubs following a breakout campaign that saw him dominate the second-tier competition and help the ‘Wahs' claim the State Championship title.

27, 7 seasons of reserve grade (no disrespect), ain’t getting my juices flowing

Understand...but its about roster management.... Have a listen to the Daniel Anderson interview on the Dragons Den podcast.... Cheers to @Victoire for sharing.

Without too many spoilers, we are holding the powder dry for 27 and tapping people on the shoulder who are not offering value for money....

The part I like is that Tu was an aerial threat to our Cup team in the Grand Final. WIth Lomax gone, we lost an edge in that department. He may not be in Lomax's class, but it's a step in the right direction. Tu's combination with Tanah Boyd in that game (another reason for pursuing Boyd???) contributed to the Dragons demise that day.

Savala, Wishart or Boyd.

In that order.

Gutho to 13 makes about as much sense as Tui to prop 🥴
Really?- Gutho is a relatively big body but is slowing down. His lateral defensive deficiencies were shown up at full back by fast moving players but he retains good front on defence and also passing, linking and support skills which are part of a No 13 role. The NRL has now and has always had backs who reinvented themselves as linking utility players due to the ageing/slowing process. Examples of this are Kurt Mann and even Adam Doeuhi who has started at 13 for the Tigers.

Just can't see the guy going from fullback having to make a couple of tackles (or at least attempts) successfully transitioning into the most important defensive positioning the team just because he's getting slower.

Seems fanciful at best...

Gutho could make a fist of playing 5/8 if we recruit a ready made fullback.
But it won’t happen, it’s quite obvious that any recruitment decision is taking into account that K.Flan must be in the 17 somewhere. It’s the big white elephant in the room. It’s not hard to imaging Anderson and Flanno snr have probably already has some robust conversations about this issue.

Stewart is the best candidate for 13. Gutherson to replace Suli if we recruit a new fullback.

The warriors fans don't seem to happy to hear that he is leaving, so they atleast think of him highly and most would prefer him in first grade instead of DWZ. So maybe he has potential.
