And Canterbury with a evolving halves and Thompson will be in their window also

broncs
Dogs
Dolphins
Panthers

they appear the benchmark

I think Canberra might level if not go backwards after loosing their 700m kicking halfback

Roosters hard to say but will be there and there there abouts

Ryles wanted certain guarantees and assurances and wasn’t given them so declined.

Instead we got SF + DY + KF + extensions for the F’s.

What’s coming our way is

“Many thanks to SF & KF who have been an integral part of our rebuild as we put all the new pieces of the jigsaw puzzle into place.

They have made sure we have stable footings underneath us with all our new appointments and we wish them well as they transition to ESL.

We also acknowledge DY’s input during this period and wish him every success as he starts his NRL head of coaching career.”

None of which would have ever transpired under Ryles.
I forgot those guarantees and assurances. what were they again?

It's a simple comparison between where they are at and where we are at given the fact that we could have had Ryles.
You do realise Saints did all they can to get Ryles and he did not want to come to his junior club and help them out in crisis? What more could have Saints done? Instead he chose to wait and go to Parra. Flanno was their 2nd option.

Ryles missed the 8 in his first season. Only just finished ahead of Flanno who as per your comments above has a pi$$ weak team so that is not very impressive. Flanno's pi$$ weak team should be 2-0 against Ryles if not for the Dragons putting the cue in the rack which most teams do when they think they are a sure thing of winning which they were. Let's see how he goes in his second before putting him as an Immortal.

I do remember at the time when we were speaking to Ryles about the job, and he surprisingly turned it down, there was a whole bunch of speculation about why he had. Some of that was media stuff about Ryles making certain demands and the Board turning them down. There was no real evidence for this though. At the end of the day he was offered a 4 year deal, enough time for any coach to turn a club around surely if he actually had what it takes? I think the truth was that he was approached by Melbourne about potentially succeeding Bellamy and that looked a lot easier and more high profile than the tough work required at the Dragons. When he realised Bellamy wasn't going anywhere he was lucky to get the Eels offer to be honest.

Look I like Jason Ryles and I hope he succeeds in his coaching career. I'm a bit filthy still that he let us down but I'll get over it. At the end of the day I still haven't seen anything in either his talk or his actions that mark him out as a high quality top tier coach but it's early days. Flanagan however has proved himself in a previous role and deserves our support. I'll re-assess at the end of next year but I'll get behind him and the squad for the 2026 year for sure.

Shane Flanagan is far from a puppet funny how much has changed in the front office since he arrived he has seen what success looks like and how to get a club moving in right direction.
Agree Flano is at a stage of his life and career where he would have pushed back on alignment capacity and reality

it’s coming

chair
Ceo
Open cheque book

Some seniors last year
And now the cherry on top re half and prop and more

Heard he didn't want his kids getting bullied at school due to non performance.

Exactly no way in the world he is a puppet huge changes have happened since he has arrived crazy that all of a sudden juniors are getting retained and pathways are a real focus like they were at Cronulla when he took over.

If you think we are in better shape than them then by all means do so but don't expect me to support your theorem in the face of telling evidence to the contrary.

You and others seem to think it's just an anti SF sentiment without understanding that me and others like me think we could have done much better and have made yet another obvious mistake in respect of coaching, procurement, retention and the style of footy we play.

If I'm proven to be wrong happy to fess up whereas people like you complain when other people complain yet you never provide any objective evidence to support your position.

Obviously you are happy in the position we find ourselves in and are happy to just float along until an inevitable change comes alongg albeit it a bad one and as always too late.
I think the word "evidence" is being very loosely applied to these posts. What we are seeing is "opinion" being called "evidence".

He is close to Gus (bit of a mentor). Didn't Gus Gould talk him out of taking the Saints job?

At end of the day Ryles loyalties lie with the Storm, Bellamy or even Gus ahead of his junior club which he played most of his career (156 games). Pretty sad if he goes on to succeed and not with the Dragons but a club he had no ties with prior to coaching. He was at Saints, Roosters and Storm yet chose Parra. I just don't get the way Parra can draw players and coaches when they are the only Sydney team not to win a comp this century. Their last comp was in the 80's yet they are treated as one of the most successful teams in Sydney. Same with the Sharks however they have won a comp this century but that was their only comp in their history. Parra were a basket case until Brad Arthur took over then they sacked him for a rookie. Time will tell if that was a good move but Brad is a pretty decent coach and is killing it in the ESL. He will win a comp there and come back even better than he was a Parra.

Saints extended another junior till 2028 - Cooper Morrison. Can anyone give us any feedback on this kid? They also signed a young kid called Xaviar Vaivai. Promising centre. Represented NSW Combined High Schools.

We are an ageing, slow, cumbersome side with a handful of might make its and signing no one of merit to take those kids forward.

Coupled that with an out of touch rinse & repeat coach who thinks he has a talented footballer in his family.

The Eels meanwhile are cleaning the decks of all their clunkers, loading up with youth & speed and adapting to 2026 footy not 2016 like us and are more chance of landing a big fish than us.

They will inflict plenty of pain on us.

So we are aging with 3 players over 30, but they are youthful with 6.

Speaking of delusional.

I am more than happy with the evolution and changes within our club.
The green shoots are popping up in both our junior nurseries , under the current leadership in the not to distant future the “MIGHTY DRAGONS “will return.
Remember we did win a premiership in 2010,PARRAMATTA won there last premiership?????

Ryles is embracing a total rebuild and is readjusting his roster accordingly and that obviously can’t be done in 1 year and probably why he asked us for 5 years but we couldn’t get our heads around such a notion.

We are haunted by short term initial coaching contracts coupled with premature extensions and rebuilds that never rebuild anything due to consistently f**king up our roster .

In respect of Ryles if you say he has 6 + 30’s now then one would assume he must have had at least 9 if not 10 when he arrived.

In his 1st year of a rebuild big names like RCG, Gutherson, Matterson, Lane all gone.

We instead purchased in pretty much our 1st 2 years Eisenhuth, RFM , Klemmer, Gutherson 3 years, Cook 2 years and kept going with BMM.

We f**ked around with malcontents like Hunt & Lomax and Ryles immediately dropped the boom on Brown & Lomax and went to market.

FFS we can’t even find a way to rid ourselves of Cake & Sloan and will carry them again this year and Ryles meanwhile is out hunting for speed & youth (yes I know JDB is an exception but not a bad one if all is considered)

For those with the logic that Parra can’t win many without Moses have you considered that the more games Moses plays the more chance they have of winning, yet we have a half despite playing every game (minus his suspension) we can’t win very many with him and yet our minor grade halves took that team to the GF.

So any decent forward considering either us or the Eels has a pretty easy decision to make.

You can assume whatever you want, but as usual you would be wrong. He signed 2 of the 30+ year olds.

Oh and is that the Matterson that is still a member of their squad because nobody else wanted him?

Why is it that you are giving Ryles a pass for having to carry a player that isn't wanted?

You're saying Ryles is out their hunting for "speed & youth" and yet their signings for next year have been Dylan Walker mid-season, JDB and a loan halfback. Their superstar signings last year were Lomax, Addo-Carr, Jack Williams and Dean Hawkins. The only youth signing he has had is Iongi.

We had FB last season to Dragons then in 24hs was signing with Sharks.
So again we announce KK flying in a helicopter to Wollongong to visit the service of excellence but now Roosters and Parramatta are favourites.
No player will sign if he has to travel all the way to Wollongong from Sydney to train each week.
Dragons need to offer each maquee player they want to sign add a helicopter to the contract to get to training and back to Sydney what a joke .
