The Old Whiner, still on his anti Flanno crusade.... you're certainly consistent.
It's a simple comparison between where they are at and where we are at given the fact that we could have had Ryles.

If you think we are in better shape than them then by all means do so but don't expect me to support your theorem in the face of telling evidence to the contrary.

You and others seem to think it's just an anti SF sentiment without understanding that me and others like me think we could have done much better and have made yet another obvious mistake in respect of coaching, procurement, retention and the style of footy we play.

If I'm proven to be wrong happy to fess up whereas people like you complain when other people complain yet you never provide any objective evidence to support your position.

Obviously you are happy in the position we find ourselves in and are happy to just float along until an inevitable change comes alongg albeit it a bad one and as always too late.

If you can't see that they are clearly in better shape than us then you are in for a world of hurt & misery.

They were supposedly going to fall into a great abyss because they signed the so called "dumb as dog shit rookie" Jason Ryles and we were supposed to be riding a giant wave of exhilaration as we got the prized signature of the former premiership winning coach.

The Eels are miles in front of us and very much in the mix re signing quality players and their 1 year entrepreneurial deal re the spare Storm halfback just shows you how great the difference in thinking outside the box actually is between the 2 clubs.

Meanwhile we remain wedded to Cake, Sloan, the ever ageing Gutho & Cook and snails like CT and of course that organisational genius KF.

If they aren't near a window then where do you think we are if we are supposedly in front of them?
Jesus mate, are you getting help ?

Eels are not close to a premiership with or without Mitch Moses. Mitch Moses will fall off by 2028 when he's 34 and without him they are a bottom 4 team. I can't see Eels making the top 8 with Mitch Moses anyway. Dragons have better young players coming through and are closer to a premiership than Eels. Dragons will be a premiership threat by 2028 when the younger players are 22-26 years old. Toby Couchman, Ryan Couchman, Dylan Egan, Hamish Stewart, Loko Tonga, Jacob Halangahu, King-Togia, Kade Reed, Hayden Buchanan, Daniel Meafou, etc.

Not including all the younger players coming through born 2007 or later who are among the best in their age group like Oliver Burton, Alexander Pupualii, Cornelius Pupualii, Rokko Walker, Asher Chapman, Josais Ah Kee, etc.
This is the vision to sell!

The Dragons have a great opportunity for our young forward pack to build excitement and skills, setting the team up for a top-four spot in 2027. All we need right now is a marquee prop to lead the way.

Our halves combo will be sortedd out in 2026, hopefully Reed marching into the 7 jumper and O'Neil winning the 6 jumper.

Kyle will have to perform well above his 2025 form to win the 14 jumper in 2027. I'm tipping LKT to be our 14 in 2027.

So, we need a KK or Tino to heelp turn the tem into something special in 2027.
O’Neil is a 7, not a 6. Reed may be either. Atkinsson is a 6 for me, even if he can play fullback And may be a 7. Still, these guys are young and unproven. We need to invest in multiple players and see where the cream rises.

Neither club is near a window. In all honesty, Parra, a week bit closer to window, but I am expecting that to change with the addition of Watsford, Anderson, Ennis, Creighton, etc to our hierarchy.

The reason I get angry and disillusioned is because the club is not honest in what they tell the fans. For years at seasons end we have been told this is not where we want to be and we are taking steps to make us a powerhouse again.

Flanaghan when he was appointed coach stated 2024 would be a consolidation year and we would see real improvement in 2025..this didn't happen. We are now hearing 2026 will be a consolidation year and real improvement won't be seen until 2027. We were told by the coach and CEO that come Nov 1 we would be ready with a war chest to sign 2-3 quality players...that has not happened.

Could the club just be honest and stop setting benchmarks which are never achieved. We won't be signing the marquee player we are all hoping for, with the squad of young players we have including some of the very young and potentially exciting players we have recruited since Anderson arrived it will be 5 years before we are a real premiership threat, assuming they all stay (problematic given the aggressive poaching by other clubs). Stop the BS about we are very hopeful of making semis in 2026 and just be honest...if the fans see a realistic roadmap for the future, we may be disappointed initially but at least our expectations will not be be inflated by false promises...

Why do you keep believing them? Since you have distrust, wouldn't it be easier to ignore what they've said?

They've lost a world class winger in Lomax after just 1 year, that doesn't look like a good sign to me. Moses is easily their best player & has a huge influence in their ability to win games but has played 8 games & 13 games over the last 2 seasons. They had 3 wins without Moses, he's 31yo with multiple injuries, another bad sign. Their best forward is arguably Junior Paulo who is 32yo, another bad sign for the future.

They've got good & bad signs for the future, just like us. Sure they could have a great season if Moses stays fit & their older pack is still competitive but it could also become a shitshow, like it was for the 1st half of the season.

Saying either dragons or eels are better than one another is all up to personal preference. Neither of these teams are a lock for the top 8 in the near future.

Never said they weren't I just stated they are miles off a premiership FACT.

Plenty of teams ahead of them Bulldogs, Warriors, Roosters, Penrith, Canberra & Brisbane just to name a few I would argue that Dolphins are ahead of them.

Ryles didn't want the job we needed Shane Flanagan who was proven in turning a rabble around not a rookie coach who would have been unsupported.

Wait, I thought Ryles turned us down? Now the story is the board chose Flanagan because they wanted a puppet, even though he's much older, more experienced and has won a comp, and one of the board members (Doust) didn't want him? Wow.

The Eels meanwhile for all of Ryles' apparent genius still performed about the same they had the previous year: they had 7 wins in 24 because Moses only played 8 games. They had 10 wins in 25 because Moses played 13.

The Pezet contract is not only one of the dumber things I've seen from a football club, but it also flies in the face of Ryles' talk about "future focus" etc etc. As does signing the aging Jack De Belin. There's still a very strong chance that Ryles is a Stephen Kearney-esque myth. Kearney was also a highly rated assistant under Bellamy, who came to Parra and cleaned house. He found a spoon or two while cleaning.

Dolphins legit could be top 4 next year, great spine & quality backs. They just need their pack to be competitive against other top teams.

Ryles wanted certain guarantees and assurances and wasn’t given them so declined.

Instead we got SF + DY + KF + extensions for the F’s.

What’s coming our way is

“Many thanks to SF & KF who have been an integral part of our rebuild as we put all the new pieces of the jigsaw puzzle into place.

They have made sure we have stable footings underneath us with all our new appointments and we wish them well as they transition to ESL.

We also acknowledge DY’s input during this period and wish him every success as he starts his NRL head of coaching career.”

None of which would have ever transpired under Ryles.
