He was only released on the basis that he didn’t play nrl for another club for 3 years. And Lomax agreed with that, bound by that.

It’s not the eels problem 360 crashed into a wall. That was always a risk that Lomax should have foreseen and put into his contract. And I imagine if he’d done that, the eels wouldn’t have released him in the first place as 360 wasn’t guaranteed.

When they signed him, they would not have wanted to be left at the alter like SGI and they would have locked him in. They were on notice he was a bit of a wanderer, a hot head, and they took steps to protect themselves.

He’s got no legal right to earn a living, no such legal right exists.

Another option for him is to try and buy his way out, just release him for cash.

He’s probably committed and may have to pay them off, lessening his take home from his next nrl club.

But that’s only a half solution due to cap issues.

He might end up in the union somewhere.

Just some thoughts anyway.
Plenty of jobs available for Brickies Labourers.Attention Zac Lomax.

I suffered a stroke in late August and was told that some of my brain cells were destroyed- no longer able to relay the necessary signals to the left hand side of my body.

However the good news was that many were actually reinvigorated giving me a higher IQ !

Please Note ! I am not attempting to make light of any stroke as that is certainly not the case . The effects are severe and most unfortunately in many cases life - long . However I have found that one needs to retain a sense of humour to overcome many day to day problems.

Sorry to hear this @Gareth67.
And yes you’re right, sense of humour is important

Very sorry to hear this Gareth. May you continue along the path to a speedy recovery.

All of us know when you post you have something important to say, so I hope you can continue to do so, with some humour thrown in.

All the best mate.

Playing devil's advocate here, the agreement (contract) is Lomax can't play for another NRL team except for Parramatta until the end of his original contract which is end of 2028, so if Lomax is ready to come back to the NRL and play for Parramatta and they cant fit him into their salary cap, is it Zac issue or Parra's issue, if Parramatta can't fit him in, should they then release him of the agreement?? He still has a right to earn a living and if he chooses to do that in the NRL, can they really stop him?
Correct. In that situation, the NRL would not be able to stand in the way of another club signing him. And nor should they. And the ridiculous notion of Melbourne giving them another player as some kind of horse-trading won't happen.

Thank you Surfclub Saint , I believe that is exactly what I need to understand - that there is no quick fix to recovering other than realising that it will take some considerable time .

That and hard work and , as they say “ no pain - no gain “.

All the best @Gareth67 & @Surfclub Saint and may you both continue on your long journey to recovery.

I think the issue with Zac is his manager. They are supposed to look after their clients. It is their job to get them players what is best for them not a bigger commission on their own behalf. If I was Zac I would be sacking his management team first before worrying about my next move.

I know from a mate of Lomax's that Parra were talking to him a while before he joined and for him to know surely the NRL would have as well but they did nothing as the should with this scenario. Sucked in to Parra and this is just karma on both them and Zac. Zac because his dollars are much more less than what he and his manager expected for 2026.

Now back to the Lomax saga , I recall how Dean Young after scoring his try against the rorters back in the 2010 grand final grabbed hold off the Dragon emblem on his jersey miming that is where his heart truly was and he meant just that . He had red and white blood running in his veins as did he father Craig .

I have seen Lomax do the same whilst at the Dragons and more recently at Parramatta , however it meant absolutely nothing , he walked out on both clubs and is now seeking his third club in as many years , a wonderful resume for his fourth club whomever and whenever that may be .

Of course there are many differences between Dean Young and Zachary Lomax, one was a extremely hard working forward who played well above his weight , whilst Lomax was a talented back , but he unfortunately appears not to understand that to be truly successful in rugby league that you must be committed to a club that has agreed to pay you ‘ X ‘ amount of dollars for a number of seasons . It is called loyalty , Dean Young knew that , but it seems that Lomax has not .

Lomax should hold his ……… when he scores.

Deano was also an authentic strike attacking forward. More ball and kicking skills than countless backs. A bit of a freak!

They have always been very scarce in the game and are great to watch.

They add another dimension to the contest.

Kiks also has the skills and ambition , when he’s on, but it’s been awhile.

More of @Gareth67 and my role models growing up:

If Junior Amone had been brought up watching this show like us, he’d still be playing NRL.

After retiring from TV, these guys got elected to the Wests Tigers Board.
Mate I was more inclined to watching the shows that had genuine geniuses in them such as Bob and Dolly’s Dwyer’s ‘ B.P.s Pick- A - Box ‘ and Professor Julius Summer Miller ‘s - ‘ Why Is It So ? ‘

The former Labour politician Barry Jones was the stand out brain in ‘ Pick - A - Box , great viewing for any young kid . :)
