Exactly what we need would be fantastic.
He would have a few of them fat cat board members worried.
Hope it's true.
Only thing is that it's the mole
Sorry Samy can't agree with you on this one.
The devil is in the detail.
"Gould in talks with Johnstone & Mc Gregor" is a huge warning bell to me.
If Mc Gregor was going to be a casualty he would not be involved in any talks and would be kept completely on the outer.
IMO this is window dressing by the club and Mc Gregor would see out his 2 years.
If Gould is coming he should only come as coach & recruitment manager and the notion that he should be the GM of the football department is only providing lip service by the club to the fans base and nothing much would alter under that arrangement.

Yep, Gould and McGregor are mates apparently

I didn’t realize Sammy , however yes — it would be .
Gould has long been thought of as Mr fix it and has also been mooted as chairman of the NRL. He certainly has a lot of experience in most aspects of the game and could well be the man to sort things out, particularly if he is doing the season's review.

OT
You are most probably correct.
That would only make matters worse

I agree I think Gould if he came would at least stay to mentor McGregor to really see in his mind if coaching is for him which is not what we want and it would be a way forward for the club for at least a year without paying out McNumbnuts.
However for me Gould can make a difference and add value to any club with his smarts, influence, knowledge, experience, player vision and success as a coach and in part administrator and the way he understands the game. It would be silly to at least not tap into this with a senior role at our club. He would make changes for the better, and improve some things, the way we do it if not all.
He may see when he gets on the inside that Mary is not the best option and the club would listen to him, where on their own they cant judge, wont listen to media and fan backlash themselves
...to me that is the best way forward for us.

I agree that Gould can provide value to the club. But mentoring McGregor? Mentoring assumes the mentee has some ability and that there is scope for development. I see neither of these traits in McGregor. Mentoring McGregor would be a complete waste of time and money.

I am not saying he can be mentored or will be. But it buys time and a step in the right direction for a club who cant afford to pay him out. It is their only shot to transition and prove (because of this years excuses) if they made a wrong decision and listen to someone who they would believe in to give them those independant answers they seek. Then they will bite the bullet and make real changes. I am looking at the bigger reality picture here.

Noted, but as Overseas Dragon has pointed out what are we going to pay Gould? If we can afford to find money to pay Gould, can we not afford to pay out McGregor?

For this rumoured appointment of Phil Gould,he must be given full power to wield the axe and change our clubs recruitment, Pathways and coaching system.
The club would be foolish to hang onto peanut Paul & Millward Mess, there can only be one head chief and it should be Gus calling the shots IMO.
He has enough contacts and a huge profile to get us the right coach. McAnchor is not that man!

The Moles reporting is very 2 bob each way
Firstly, talks with Gould to head up the " end-of-season review"
Secondly, possibility of him taking on a more permanent role in 2020 as assumed would be director of football.

It should be noted that Gould still has to the end of this month to end his contract with penrith. Same situation as Barrett.
But something does not make sense to me. And this involves $$$. As other people have said we cannot afford to pay out McGregor how come we afford to hire Gould? And this on top of McGregors supposed $1.2m.

There is more to come on this rumour and if so it will be interesting to examine closely the finite details of how this would work.
