Lomax needs time.
I would drop McDonald.
He needs to show some heart.
And improve his speed.
If I was coach I would get a specialist sprint trainer to work with all the back line players.
They need to do some speed work not just strengthening work.

Lomax won NSW under 18 player of the year. That makes me think that he is our best option next year. I remember many very good young outside backs making their debuts and playing very well at 18 years of age, names such as

Tim Brasher
Brett Rodwell
Brad Makay
Terry Hill
Brad Fitter
Andrew Ettingshausen

Are all names that I can remember from the late 80's

Are 2 that come to mind in recent times. I am sure that there would be many more to add to that list too.

I am of the belief that if they are good enough, they are old enough. Lomax, has a decent build on him and I think he will handle first grade next year.

I think Licha could be a could buy. If he can continue the form that he was in, in the last few weeks of the comp, he could become our first choice hooker.

As for Latimore and Stockwell, I would pass on both of them. I think Latimore was soft, when he played for us years ago, while Stockwell had big wraps on him in our lower grades, but failed to go on with it. He looked to be too light framed for a prop.

We've got a fair few forwards leaving us next year so I'd say Stockwell and Latimore are NSW Cup signings. They're a whole lot better than Masoe and Matthews anyway.

As for Lichaa, I actually like it.

Was mentioned during the broadcast last Friday night that Latrell Mitchell is still only 19 years old. Pretty sure a 1st grade wing spot for Lomax next year would be more beneficial than detrimental for him.

His progress should be accelerated to compete with Garrick and Herbert for a centre or wing position in 2018/2019.

JUST a fortnight after being officially farewelled by Canterbury, Michael Lichaa is now determined to continue his career in the blue and white.

Lichaa’s manager will meet with Canterbury officials this week to discuss the prospect of the hooker remaining at Belmore next season.

The off-contract hooker has fielded interest from two rival Sydney clubs, including St George Illawarra.

Lichaa was called on stage after the final game of the season and farewelled by the Bulldogs.

But after rediscovering his natural running game during Canterbury’s three-game winning streak to finish the regular season, Lichaa now says he wants to stay.

“To be at the Bulldogs is 100 per cent the first option for me,” Lichaa told The Telegraph.

“It would be awesome, because I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of weeks playing my natural running game.

“My manager will meet with them (Canterbury) next week and hopefully he can get something sorted.”

As much as Lichaa would like to remain at Canterbury, he also knows the final decision is out of his control.

The Bulldogs must shed players to be salary cap compliant for next season. Skipper James Graham has provided some relief after joining St George Illawarra on a three-year deal, but the club may have to release more players.

Lichaa knows he could be in the firing line, but remains hopeful his manager Sam Ayoub can work out a deal for him to remain at the Bulldogs.

Des Hasler could also be sacked in the coming weeks, opening the door for a new coach at Canterbury.

I hope he stays at the Dogs the Dragons don't need him.

He would only get in the way of Robson's development and I consider Robson a better player anyway.

Graham is not worth $600,000 per season at 32-34 years of age as a player only but I guess we are paying a bit extra for his leadership and mongrel. We had better get our act together in 2018 especially our attack and wing defence and bolstering of our bench forwards which has been below par in 2017. Ah Mau, Sims and Host are up to it but not Leilua, Lawrie snd Sele who do not set the house on fire
due to lack of consistency. Perhaps Kerr should be given a go as he has a Paul Vaughan and Elton Rasmussen look about him and seems to have their speed.
