Don’t let the irregular posters on here recently get you down OT. Hook has already proven he’s got the guts to make hard decisions by letting McInnes go. We’re in good hands, it might not be 2009 allover again but we’re not far from competing at the top. Dufty will be the next to go to give Ramsey a go at FB & he’ll immediately become a fringe rep player. Better than Ryan papenhausen & the heir to Tedesco. Feagai boys left centre & wing plus Lomax & Rav on the right we’ll kill it. Plenty of cash to spend on forwards as he sees fit. We’re all good mate :eyeglasses:
I'm not in the slightest bit down (disappointed about Host though)

Now we will find out once and for all whether
  1. Hunt can play as a match winning half.
  2. Norman actually can play footy for more than 5 minutes a game.
  3. If Tariq Sims actually has what it takes to be the player that many think he is or should be.
  4. If Paul Vaughan is a myth or a great player just incredibly poorly used.
  5. Our junior crop is worthy of our high esteem.
  6. The JV and having 2 locations is a plus or do we have to face the reality that it is a hinderance.

Irregular posters? WTF does that mean?

whats your feeling on this one mate. Is Captain Cam with us in the Red V come round 1 or is he playing against us in 5 weeks time.
If the later will be very hard to watch.
I think he could be gone by round one, if swaps can be arranged.
Sharks are salary cap tight so would have to offload someone on similar money. Not Billy.
Def by June 30
We would of paid 4 more months of his salary by then.
Plenty of players have signed with other clubs early, but I can't remember too many doing it before the comp has started and then staying the whole year.
I know Cam would give 100% but there is always issues somewhere.
Me personally, I'm too too concerned with him going.
The media are talking him up just to lay the boot into us.
Fact are he has been the mainstay of our spine the last 4 years and we have finished 9th 7th 15th and 12th.
All other spine positions have had multiple players.
I can see where Hook is coming from, so let's see what he can do with the team and then judge.
Cam, great heart, great tackler.
Spark, attack, adapt to change, leadership....

I somewhat agree but with the caveat that he has only played under Mary for us. I would have looked forward to seeing him progress under a new group of coaches, new game plan and maybe a consistent spine to build some combos with. That being said now that he’s signed elsewhere I’d be glad to see him sign elsewhere so we get a good chance with the new hooker to begin the change of style early as possible.

I'm not in the slightest bit down (disappointed about Host though)

Now we will find out once and for all whether
  1. Hunt can play as a match winning half. His kicking game gave us a chance in most games last year but others let him down. With a decent halves partner and a competent coach he can be a match winner.
  2. Norman actually can play footy for more than 5 minutes a game. Actually zero minutes in 1st Grade might be the answer. He has talent, a great passing and kicking game but rarely gets out of 2nd gear.
  3. If Tariq Sims actually has what it takes to be the player that many think he is or should be. Supposedly his first full, injury and niggle free pre season in yonks - he's 30, time to make his mark again and regain that 2018 form - at his best he's a SOO player.
  4. If Paul Vaughan is a myth or a great player just incredibly poorly used. A real drop in form since mid 2019 for Vaughany who at 29 should be at his peak. Hopefully Hook can find the old Vaughan and get him firing again.
  5. Our junior crop is worthy of our high esteem. They won the flag in 2019 and some have shown in their few appearances that we may have struck gold - Ramsey, Sullivan, Max Feagai plus others to get a shot, Matt Feagai, Jnr Amone and Tyrell Sloan have got us all excited and rightly so I think. Just wish we had a few big South Coast boppers coming through like the old days.
  6. The JV and having 2 locations is a plus or do we have to face the reality that it is a hinderance. Yeah, just move to the Gong :p . I live in Brisbane so it's easy for me to say but we probably have to make a call sooner or later.

I think that if we can swap a player with Cronulla and we get McCullough soon, McInnes will likely go to the Sharks by Round !. If we don't, he stays the year.

Are we speaking to Brandon Smith?

Well, the SGI Board/recruitment team said in relation to Folau that they were always interested in talking to outstanding players (or words to that effect). Smith, by any measure is a young, outstanding player and a potential leader who we should be chasing with gusto.
Let's see if the actions match the rhetoric.

Brandon Smiths manager Stan Martin spotted in Wollongong this morning getting out of an Uber .... doesn’t sound like a holiday to me .. wouldn’t be surprised Dragons try to break the bank and offer Brandon Smith a record breaking contract especially after the hammering the club is getting from all media they need to redeem themselves in some way.. cash is there especially if Mciness is off the books by round 1 and the Sharks agree to take him only needing to pay $300k of his contract this year as Dragons have already paid 4mnths worth ..wild theory but some coincidence !

I thought I read that Storm said he could look around for 2022 but there was no way he could leave in 2021?
