Poor bomber. Was finally about to be able to get rid of all the dead wood and got pushed out before he go the chance. Hope this really bites the sharts.

Agree M- Norman irritates the hell out of me- he's harder to get rid of than Patterson's curse- just when his contract is up, he starts producing the goods. Maybe I'm being unrealistic, but considering the money he's on, he should be (and should have been since arriving at the Red V) dominating in the way Cameron Munster does-week in, week out.

In all the years he's been here, I've yet to see Norman play a game where I've been able to say that he did it all - kick a 40/20, put on a big hit, use his pace and footwork to make a break, put a player through a gap, throw a long Dufty like pass onto a winger's chest, back up a break and run 40 metres to score and ABOVE ALL- not drift in and out of a game -which he's notorious for.

Apologists for Norman will say that Mary didn't use him optimally eg the old chestnut that he's a better player at 7 where he's running the show. Well, he's not playing at 7 now and he's playing better-so much for that myth. If you are a truly great player (like a Thurston or Lockyer) you'll be great wherever you play.

Clune, who offers cover, not just for the halves but dummy half as well where we are a bit skinny, should not be the one going to North Queensland. I don't want McGuire anyway but if Hook feels he gives us something, give the cows Norman and play Clune and Hunt in the halves with Sullivan on the bench for impact.

However, while Payten is a newcomer to the coaching business, he impresses me as no one's fool so he'd probably think he's swapping one troublesome idiot for another.
I watched some of the replay of the Roosters game this morning & their young halfback had a blinder & won them the game. He’s 18.

We've been bringing on Sullivan so slowly it’s frustrating and now all this talk of extending Norman is frustrating me even further. Norman is not our future Sullivan is. Same goes for Williame.

Its widely agreed Sullivan is special so let’s play him, the old saying says “if you are good enough, then you are old enough” Sullivan could play 17 & if needed Norman could fill in at Lock, Centre or Fullback.

I’m getting frustrated hearing about all our exceptional young talent & then keep seeing Williame & Norman on the team list every week.

Chill out brother. Give Sullivan a few weeks to get his fitness and timing up to speed then see where we are at. Even with a loss today we’re still going to be sitting in the 8 and a win...

Instead of keeping Norman for a year or two

If the club offers Norman a contract , it will more than likely only be 1 year and heavily reduced dollars as they are making a pathway for juniors coming through.
We Don't need Widdop... 32 years old and busted....well past his best and that's coming from someone who was one of his staunchest defenders on here.

Two former NRL stars are reportedly looking to return to Australia next season, with both offered to the Cronulla Sharks.
Gareth Widdop and Will Chambers both left at the end of the 2019 season to play overseas, last suiting up for the Dragons and Storm respectively.

But now they want back into the NRL and have been “actively shopped” around according to The Australian’s Brent Read and Cronulla are at the centre of it.

Why??? You have Sullivan and others ready to come through...
I know the Clune rumour has been rubbished but where there is smoke there is fire. He would be a good depth signing in that case or if Macca got injured, Hunt moved to 9 etc. I really hope Sullivan gets a run personally but hammys can be hard to get over, Hunt also has a pretty badly broken leg, one more injury and we are very short.

As a replacement for Clune, or should Macca go down and Hunt moved to 9.

Griffin has stated Hunt is a 7...end of story...I have faith in the current coaching setup....they have a big job on their hands. It will take time to turn it around...unfortunately this calls for all of us to show some faith and patience....Have a good afternoon and go the Saints.

This is looking like another astute signing by Hook. We get to keep Clune & we get McGuire on a discount for 1.5 seasons.

MCGUIRE COULD HAVE PLAYED LAST GAME FOR COWBOYS

In other news, Josh McGuire could have played his last game for the Cowboys with the experienced forward expected to make a move to the Dragons by early next week.

McGuire (illness) has been ruled out of Sunday’s game with the Tigers and Read reports a departure from Townsville is imminent.

“The Josh McGuire negotiations continue with the Dragons,” he said on Triple M on Saturday.

“The likelihood is that it will be finalised at some point, if not over the weekend, early next week.

“He won’t play this weekend, he’s actually got an infection I believe in his elbow and he would have been 50/50 to play anyway.

“I think they’ve just decided that he’s probably not going to be there next week, he hasn’t played a lot of footy lately, it’s best to persist without him this weekend.

“I expect that in the coming days there will be an announcement he will be moving to St. George-Illawarra.”

There were reports of a player swap involving Adam Clune and Jake Clifford but the two clubs are set to come to a different agreement.

“The bigger issue there was money, because he’s (McGuire) on a big deal next year,” Read said.

“Basically the two parties had to agree on an amount the Cowboys would put in next season to make the deal palatable to St. George. That’s what they’re working on at the moment, finding an amount of money both sides can agree with.”

I agree Hunt is a 9 but make no mistake if went down and we had some depth in the halves he would come into consideration through necessity with BB out end of story.

Hook will look at other options...Why would you move your captain and key player out of his preferred position when he is playing out of his skin @ the moment... that's the type of logic , our former coach would have employed... more likely he would use clune or others as his 9...

Anyway, Have a good afternoon and go the Saints.

If Norman was doing a job, Macca was out for the season and BB medically retires. It is without question easier to manufacture a new halves parter for Norman rather than a new hooker.

Well you better get on the blower to Griffin, because he has other ideas.
Mate it’s not my idea. I have made it more than clear I want Hunt to remain our 7 and I hope to god Macca doesn’t get injured. But if he does, it will definitely come into consideration. No questions asked. Instead of getting all smart, why not tell me who would be our 80 minute hooker if Macca was injured? It is a scenario we don’t want but you can bet it will be an option. I’ll wait for your answer, In the event Clune was gone, Macca injured I’d go Sullivan, Norman, Hunt. I will await your ideas or await the game.

It doesn't matter what I think...it matters what Griffin thinks...I quoted what I have been told....I will leave it at that.
