Oh my , don’t say anything about this to the shark fans . 😫

Note ! Unable to supply a link from iPad .
The Gold Coast Sharks was actually considered. The GC bid team came to Sydney and spoke to at least two clubs, Cronulla and (perhaps surprisingly) Souths as well. The bid team fellow said they made a very good offer to Cronulla who at the time were cash strapped. He thought the Gold Coast Sharks was a goer. But after the delegation went away, these preliminary discussions apparently fell over. I recall this rather well known GC bid team fellow telling me how it started off with positive discussion, with some people in agreement, but then they "start throwing rocks at each other" ...and apparently that was the end of it.

To be fair he wasn’t actually saying that should happen. He was presenting a hypothetical counter argument to Rothfield that the Dragons would survive a move better than the Sharks because of the strength of their brand. He wasn’t actually saying “Dragons should be moved to Brisbane”. His first words were it made no sense that the Sharks are right in the middle of territory covered by St George Illawarra. He never once said let’s move the Dragons. Some people on this forum lack basic comprehension skills when watching things.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good smother. Lay the boot in I say, irrespective of facts.

Yeah, I hope we have someone lined up. I thought he was next in line to be our hooker after AMc, and that might be sooner rather than later.

The Storm will have Grant, B Smith and T Wyshart in their squad. Looks like Smith will land somewhere else leaving Grant and Wyshart.

The Storm scouts have been doing their job quite well and Wyshart will do a great job for them as a back up hooker under the guidance of Bellamy and Co. Same as Meaney and Coates.

Once you are able to get into the Storm system you end up being a star.

He can play 6 and is wholehearted and they may have got him to be a backup for Munster in time as Nico’s gone
He plays tough and hard not saying he will be successful but can understand Bellamy interest

Actually no, you are wrong. He stated they can be still be the St George Dragons in Brisbane. There's not much more to it. He'd be happy for Cronulla or St George to go. Not anything to him to do away with 100 years of history because it doesn't suit his idealistic view of the comp.

"Some people have comprehension issues when watching things".
So great of you to refer to yourself in third person.

Dude…..comprehension means understanding things said in the context they were said. Go back and watch again and see if you can work it out second time around.

The true reason that this Queensland pineapple - Buuuce Hatcher is after a Sydney team is that he wishes to ensure that Brisbane Broncos will be safe from any real competition that would threaten their stranglehold on the game up their . This includes the recruitment of the best players available, they want the pick of the crop . What’s left over can go to the new team .

As far as Kent is concerned I have found him to be an overbearing individual , whose opinion is always the correct one , at least as far as he is concerned .

Rothfield talks common sense and at heart his interests are the survival of the Sydney teams from yesteryear regardless of whom they are .

What worries me is that this V’landys has no base roots in the game itself , his main desire is to extend the competition to wherever his fancy may take him , which in the long run will spell trouble .

We have had new teams in W.A. and also S.A. - where are they now ?

For me the most logical step in expansion would be a second NZ team. The Warriors would have to improve but imagine if they could have a Wellington or even South Island team. It’s obviously years off but that rivalry could be great and eat away at Rugby a bit in the process .

IMO, it would flop badly. Yawnion is a religion over there and their one & only true national sport ( cricket struggles to get the talent as a lot of juniors make the decision at 15 to go into the union development program ) By all means make the Warriors more relevant in NZ but it would be throwing money that the game doesn't have to throw at another NZ side. Better spent on a new side from a heartland of the game and that's why the 2nd Brissie side makes most sense.
