Shame to hear , however teams require players who put in every match , not only every now and then . A large part of his game seem to be concentrated on 1 out hits on the opposing halfback not the big men in the team .

Never the less time catches up with everyone eventually , my best memory of him will be the semi against the broncos when he crashed over for three tries . Alas not the same player since .

Was also announced on the mmm call during the first half. I like how m but he’s been on a downward spiral for a couple of years & I can’t see him making the starting side next year.
Hopefully clearing the deck for a bigger signing.
Maybe this was the reason he was not the “obvious” choice for the captaincy.
Will be interesting to see if he puts in tomorrow.

Just saw it’s Tariq Sims
Yes it’s definitely Tariq. If true this is another nail in Griffin’s coffin in my opinion. Tariq has been a bright light in a pretty dark season, why give away our most consistent forward when we are so under matched in the forwards. Tariq is one of the few who has pride in the jersey, I’m very unhappy about this if true.

For a senior player and SOO representative, he only played 1 good game this year that I can remember against Newcastle. The other 20 odd games were very average. With a change in coach this year he had a chance to step up but didn't. If he ends up leaving, thanks for your service and good luck in the future. Any of the players that have been at the club for the past 4 or 5 years and want to leave, the door is that way. It's not as if we are dismantling a top 8 or premiership contending team. We should focus on the young guys, the ones that put in week after week and the new players joining next year.

Wow, mate you never deviate away from putting a nail into hook ! Very brave sensible decision and if you don't believe me read others opinion. Tariq just can not put sustained performances consistently and that's just during a game ! Clean out continues !

Yep he's coached some shit this year. Hopefully, now thst most of the turdd have or are being flushed, we can get on with being a football team
Press release stated Simms was after an extension after 2022..He is still contracted for 22 , but has been told wont be renewed after 22 and is free to look around , and look at his options...
So tariq can field offers and head off , say tigers , or work his arse off and perform for the dragons in 22 like he did in this years Origin , and prove to everyone hes not washed up
Have got to agree with most on here ..his very best games for the Dragons over the past few years have been few and rare ..
This will also serve a warning to all players senior and junior , that everyone is now on notice and performances and not reputations count...

I like tariq, great player on his day. But the last two years beside a few games and this years soo series he has been quite pedestrian. I applaud the club for looking to the future as well as giving him to opportunity to extend his career elsewhere. In all honesty do we really think he would be worth holding onto after this contract ends? He seems busted now. How will he be in 2 years time?

If anyone thinks we’re a better team without Tariq Sims then you are delusional. He’s one of the few who has pride in the jersey & any criticism of his game can be directly linked to Griffin’s tactics of constantly playing short to the 2nd rowers with no space.

Yes you are correct I am a consistent critic of Griffin, he’s leading us to the abyss. It’s frustrating that I’m one of the few who sees it. It’ll give me no pleasure at all to remind you all of my concerns in 2022.

In 2023 where he wants to be extended and beyond , we would be a 💯 percent better team than with a 33 year old tariq on his way out. Tariqs a champion and love what he is capable of. But don’t let sentiment get in the road of what the club needs to be competitive.

A running Viliame Kikau just set up
A try for Penrith. Any limitations to Sims’s game are directly due to our pathetic tactics. Our 2nd towers never get any running room.

well i suppose its a succession plan moving forward , much like what we did with joel thompson so it depends if tariq feels strongly about playing on in 2023 and if a team wants him on their books for 22 & 23 . Really would like to have a fit and determined Tariq in the team for 22 especially with bigger bodies up front
On the plus side could mean we are looking for a playing for 23 to take over from tariq

His best was great but in reality far too little of it

A good servant of the club but his best was over 2 seasons ago and his time as a starting player is gone so do we need an ageing bench player is the question at hand.

I wouldn’t be extending a 33 year old Sims for 2023 which is what he’s looking for. And he’d likely want a couple of years at least which would mean a 35 year old Sims.
Smart from the club, Sims is pretty cooked already at 31, imagine him at 35!

He is still worth having around the club for a few more years.
