We must shed our below-average players and replace them with cheap up-and-coming juniors. With the money left over, we need to buy top-range players. For example, we need to buy 2 top range props and 2 edge forwards so, if Su'A and Sims are gone, we need SOO standard replacements for them, and if this means Ford and Burns must go, and a few lazy props must also go, so be it.

In the forward pack, I would only keep:
Props
De Belin - prop
F Molo - prop
J Hunt
Coric
and buy two SOO-level props. If Lawrie wants out let him go.

Edge Forwards
M Molo
and buy two SOO-level edge forwards. For me Bird is a center/lock player.

Hooker

If possible sign Robson
Forget about signing substandard hookers.

In the halves

Approx 4.25m. Savings after 12 players say goodbye. That is a good cleanout and if we purchase the 5 new recruits and backfill 7 remaining positions in our top 30 which would be available for our promising young juniors to fill. A good cleanout to say the least and maybe we can be on our way to a better future in 2023.

The trick will be to fit the 7 new juniors into 11m worth of salary cap and the only way to do this is to give some established players, including Ben Hunt and our 5 new recruits a cocktail of salary and TPA. In much the same way that clubs like Penrith, Storm, Roosters, Broncos, Eels, and Souths do.

What I find perplexing is that he could absolutely stink it up for 18 games and still keep getting picked.

What is this obsession with Kyle Flannigan. Sharks, Roosters or Dogs did not want him.
Why should we?
Haas and Fifita would take up about 2 mill of our cap for us to buy them
We already have too many over paid players

Haas is by far the best forward in the comp. It is him and daylight. Don't blame him for Bronco's demise as he has done all he can possibly do. 2nd in post contact meters and up there with the other forward for running meters and has played less games than them. Would love him at the club but he wants to go to a club that will play finals. Saints can be ruled out of that especially with Hook as coach.

The St George Illawarra Dragons are on the verge of securing their first new recruit for the 2023 campaign, with reports the Red V are preparing to make an offer to unwanted Warriors back-rower Jack Murchie.

The 25-year-old was not offered a new contract by the New Zealand club for the 2023 season despite impressing in his limited opportunities, thanks largely to the Warriors’ recruitment securing a number of more experienced options in Marata Niukore and Mitch Barnett.

While he doesn’t match them for experience, it’s believed the Dragons view Murchie as a good option to fill the void left by the departure of senior players including Tariq Sims and Josh McGuire.

Murchie has played 40 NRL games since making his debut for the Canberra Raiders in 2018, alternating largely between the second row and as an impact player off the bench. He also represented Australia at under-23 level.

FFS . Sick of signing up reserve graders and then the coach gives them 20 NRL games in the year. We desperately need 2 very good forwards at least for 2023. Heads should roll on who have been handling our cap. We are obviously paying way, way too much for ordinary performance and cant entice quality players.
