Dragons recruitment strategy 2012 - presentMeanwhile all the other clubs went out and signed up the best available talent, and we’re getting ready to hit up the reject shop
Mate write a post , or better still a message to Willow’s inbox . I am sure he will be able to help you out . I possess a iPad only and do not have technical knowledge unfortunately , however I hope this has been off some help .Sorry to be a pain and upload this in the wrong thread - I don't know where else to put this. For some reason, I can't like or react to anything? On every single device and between my work and personal emails, my adblocker is turned off so I really don't understand what's going on.

Yes- had the same reaction Kit- however, if that is their thinking, we've lost the plot by extending someone who looks like a lame duck coach for 2023 with no certainty surrounding the 2024 coach. That is one of the first questions incoming players and their agents will be asking.I read this article with interest today. Perhaps it explains our reluctance to make any big name signings just yet, maybe they're holding off and waiting for all these pieces to fall into place before committing big bucks, long term on any players.
I might be giving the Club management and recruitment team more credit than they're due but maybe they're playing it smart for once. The article mentions 190 players off contract in 2023 so a further cleaning out and some big signings for 2024 to compliment our young'ns would certainly be a good strategy.
I won't hold my breath.

It's the only way we can voice our disapproval of the way the Club is run.Everyone has their the right to do what they want but not renewing membership is not going to help us survive or get sponsors if you love the club as much as you say you do have a think about it.
Hopefully we dig deep in 2023 & have a decent year but realistically nothing significant is going to happen until the coaching situation is sorted. Only a new coach/vision is going to attract marquee players.Dragons recruitment strategy 2012 - present

On a dollar & contract length basis Corey Norman is obviously the worse buy in NRL history but Ben Hunt is not far behind. What has all that money bought us? Nothing! I still remember Hunt’s shanked kick in the 2018 semi against Souths that ended our season. A Bronco’s fan will agree pointing out Hunt’s shortcomings in 2016.I’ve put this together to highlight our signings in recruitment over the last 10 years

Absolutely appalling when you add to the equation how many juniors we let go or never developed.I’ve put this together to highlight our signings in recruitment over the last 10 years

I would hate to see that list up against a Roosters or Rabbitohs list. Makes me wince just thinking about it.Great research BR.

the power of ethel no doultGremlins !
Agree. StGI has always been blessed with its young talent pool. We waste money trying to buy ‘marquees‘ at the expense of our youth. The problems created by this approach have now become starkly obvious. This is also a key aspect of our ‘culture’ issues imo. A real conviction to the centre of excellence is an urgent priority.Absolutely appalling when you add to the equation how many juniors we let go or never developed.
Good job writing up the list.
I'm sort of like in 2 minds about your response, I understand the issues that BH has had but I also think he has been our best player probably for the last three years and if we untilised him at 9 and developed our juniors for the next 3 years, how would that be, I think a much better situation than we have now. As for the money expended on him well looking at it on face value you are right we havent had much return, but can I lay the blame all on him, probably not, we were a pretty poor team before he got here and havent improved much from then if any, especially in the forwards. We have the capacity in juniors to be a good as Penrith, but our systems in management of these juniors is highly lacking, why ??? Because our top end management and recruiting system is highly lacking. I cant blame BH for that.On a dollar & contract length basis Corey Norman is obviously the worse buy in NRL history but Ben Hunt is not far behind. What has all that money bought us? Nothing! I still remember Hunt’s shanked kick in the 2018 semi against Souths that ended our season. A Bronco’s fan will agree pointing out Hunt’s shortcomings in 2016.
Even if we have a blinder in 2023 & make the semis Hunt will choke like he always does in club footy. Hunt’s contract extension for ‘24 & ‘25 is the absolute worst decision we’ve ever made.
