Well, probably high odds to get him but why not register with the NRL our 600-700k offer so that when Rorters claim his new contract is 500k they will get a "please explain " ?

You are the type of individual who would do an excellent job sitting on the Dragons board Dennis - a positive thinker - looking towards a successful future .

Matt Dufty said a “toxic environment” engulfed the Dragons in 2020.

St George Illawarra Dragons fullback Matt Dufty has opened up on the “toxic environment” that engulfed the club during a disastrous 2020 campaign.

The Dragons finished in 12th place and missed the NRL finals with coach Paul McGregor shown the door in August.

Dufty found himself at stages in and out of the Dragons team as McGregor experimented with different options for the No.1 jersey.

The 25-year-old said it created a damaging feeling of uncertainty among the playing group.

“I didn’t know if I was going to get dropped or I was going to play (under McGregor),” Dufty told reporters on Monday.

CAM SMITH IS RETURNING TO THE STORM. But not with his boots

‘I’VE SPILT BLOOD FOR BOTH CLUBS’: Cronk, Buzz in heated double agent clash

EVERY CLUB’S SELECTION QUESTION: 3-player shootouts and mystery recruits

“It was a pretty toxic environment – it’s not anything against anyone that was there, but we weren’t playing well.

“I didn’t know if I was going to play or get dropped – I didn’t think I should have, but that’s footy and I have grown up a lot since then. I’m a confidence player and I think when the year went on, I was confident in my own ability.

Dufty admitted the signing of Corey Norman had affected his confidence.

“That’s what I lost a few years ago, especially when they signed Normy (Corey Norman) – I lost my role coming off 2018 when I thought I was playing really well and thinking I should have started.

“For me personally, it took a big toll on my personal life – nothing serious, but myself mentally. Nobody likes feeling like that, so getting back to my best footy was good and I grabbed it with both hands and never felt better.

“Now I’m back to where I know I should be. All the coaches here have a lot of faith in me.”

Dufty said there was a different feeling under new coach Anthony Griffin with the next generation of Dragons players knocking on the door.

“It’s been a bit of a different feel you could say. I hadn’t played as many games as last year since 2018 I think, and definitely this year I come in feeling old,” he said.

“It’s a young squad, I’m 25 and time has flown. We’ve got boys like Cody (Ramsey) and Sloaney (Tyrell Sloan) that are there behind me itching to play first grade and itching to play fullback. That’s giving me more drive, and I’m feeling very confident after last year.”

The twits, that kept McGooseneck in power, must attend
to an open club, live meeting with members. To answer
why he was still Coach...... After such dismissal results.
Then a actual vote, by all attending members. On a new committee, & chairman. These
Gordon's, particularly Andrew Gordon (chairman) must be booted out. They are a toxic influence in our club... That where supposed to make improvements...
But the opposite has
Occurred....

The beauty of Saints not spending in the offseason on guys that are fringe players is when guys like Oats get fed up through the season and want a change, Saints can make it happen and won't have to work through salary cap issues. Hopefully their plan is to go after the big fish that are proven and have experience.

Ben Dobbin in QLD just reporting Corey Oates potentially on the move during this year and Dragons a strong destination as he wants to play edge forward.
Nothing official just talk.

Great timing , we have no backrowers and we have a Hugh rep winger who's dream is to to play backrow. Great fit, make it happen Dragons !!

Still think Rava would be a good risk to give him a go there. He has the body, can pass the ball, is very strong , why not ?

I’d love Rava too, I love the bloke but I just don’t see him becoming a long term winger for us. He is a long term signing and could be lethal. He and Lomax could strike up an equally good partnership on the right with a winger outside Zac than can go 100.

I agree the move would be advantageous to both parties. The Dragons would acquire a big, strong, representative level player who is determined to play in the back row and Oates would be moving to a higher placed team which is on the improve. I also believe that Oates would buy into the Dragon’s culture and be suited to a team primarily based in the Illawarra.

Haha, love it !

I like Oates but his form has been down lately, dropping lot's of ball, do we really need more of that. I'd accept him like one of the family though if we managed to get him because at his best he's Origin quality.

Oates could cover wing and second row. He does suffer from dropsy from time to time but can finish off movements to score tries. Will he be considered to be another reject?

Well yes, technically he would be another reject. Isnt he struggling to get a run at last years spoon club?
But hey, we'll take him!
Edit: Just checked team lists. Corey failed to make Broncos top 21. Hes defs a reject.

I don’t mind the Rava idea. I’d like to see him in the centres too.
