You would have to wonder why any player would consider our coaching brains of Griffin, Gentle & Head would improve them.
Last chance saloon, desperation or guaranteed overs on the salary would be the only driving factor.

Our coaching team match their salary…..Low end!

Sad but true. The Dragons Board went shopping at the Budget Basement Bargain Supermarket late in 2020 and saw Hook, Gentle and Elliott were on special - going for half price of virtually nothing and thought what a great deal. Now they have Head in the mix who at the time of their shopping spree was hiding amongst the also ran Mary sales so couldn't be bought then, but they managed to go back and get him even at a lower cost than all of the others. Dear oh dear they blew the budget and now cannot find money to replace them.

I had always thought that Matty Head had a bit going for him as a coach in the lower grades. I was a bit surprised when (a while ago now) @George Dragon didn't rate him at all. I wonder what the issue is?

Most surprised at Griffin’s recent comment about Bird , saying that he expects him to play the best footy of his career over the next couple of seasons now that he is injury free - and being almost 30 years of age !

Wonder what he would make of the rorters Sam Walker if he was a Dragon and being only 19 years old ?

If Sam was a Dragon he would be spending his time being nursed through KOE Cup, dreaming of one day playing first grade.

Ease up Jack is only 27 and in the prime of his career i agree mentally now that hes got a long term contract he may just end up playing w more mental freedom

At the 'Budget Basement Bargain Supermarket', you can buy stuff that no one else wants, has been returned by others and you can always go back and buy more (year extension), even before you've worked out whether it works or not.

So while the Roosters look to recruit the best available players, the Dragons look to recruit rejects and discards from other clubs.

Add dinosaur Hook as the coach and its a recipe for mediocrity until at least the end of next year.

He will need to play with more than that for my liking , he had better repay the faith put into him by Griffin and the Dragons for extending his contract for another 2 years by becoming a match winner .

Other non-development clubs do not have the responsibility,, desire, or pride in bringing juniors into first grade and hopefully to a representative level.

Saints' problems are mainly related to the type of people we have on our Board and, our commitment to juniors coming through.

We need to change the way we make up our squad. We must first select a premiership-winning 17 and then back-fill it with juniors. Keep the juniors that advance and let the others go.

Agree, so why not do that.?
Why don't we get to do what the leading clubs do.? Are our Board run the club effectively? Why they let us slip so far behind the top clubs? Without any consequences. How do they get away with such dismal performances, & nothing happens? And where are the
Gordon's (WIN) in this disaster?

Not a top notch squad. I'd say we are fair. The guys in the head office of the Storm would have to be hypnotised to sign up Hook if Bellamy was to leave. But you are right, Hook would have the Storm down the ladder for sure.

I'd say the Board is not interested in any change because they are comfortable with the way things are.

Staff and players are performing poorly because they are mostly not top shelf and they are not held to account.

Would be a massive pick up I'd say. We need players that have been in the Panthers' system. Yes, spend a bit. Sorry, spend a lot from now. We need to as our current crop, except for Su'a and a couple more, are rubbish.

The fist thing the Club has to do is stop buying the Highway Men, Nomads , semi retirees , damaged goods players that we usually attract .There is normally a genuine reason their former Clubs dont want them , and very few good ones slip through the net ...exc Sua Suli Moose
Major strip out needed and genuine inquiries made to several Marquee players , ideally Forward , Back ,
Example Munster and Martin ..
If there is an issue with BH then perhaps it maybe best to direct him to the Dolphins...Desperately need that organising ,general , match winning style 6 or 7/Ideally a 6 to compliment Sullivan
Martin is a no nonsense hard as nails forward who would be a perfect fit alongside Sua , Molo, JDB , Bird , Moose etc
Then and only then we maybe able to compete with the premiere sides in the NRL

I'd say that if Bird is worth $550k, then Martin is worth $800k.
