I'm still confused with this , They have Flanno in their system , if it was me I'd piss Hook off and if Hunt doesn't like it he can go too .... Appoint Flanno give him 2 years then re assess ..... Am I missing something, wouldn't this be the most obvious solution ? .......
A lot of us would agree with you about Flanno. There just has to be something that only the Board and Flanno know as to why he isn't already getting the Dragons squad sorted for next year.

Maybe he has told the Dragons that he is quite happy doing what he is and wants it that way for a few more years rather than get all stressy about coaching a team of (whatever anyone would like to call them). So strange though that not one of the other clubs (Bulldogs and Tigers) grilled him about why he would do a good job at those clubs. He put his hand up and said that he was waiting for them to call him, but apparently nobody did.

It certainly is a mystery and the answer most probably will come out in a tell all when he finally decides or gets a gig that he wants.

If Hook stays, all he has to do is win a couple of trials or the Charity shield and he will be offered a contract. You would think they would have learnt from the Mary years.

The club has been quiet however so we may be surprised and they wait till the season is over before we hear anything but I doubt their will be any change just a review of the season that will come out positive for Hook to stay on.

It all makes sense if the chairman and Doust want to bring in Deano from 23.

They'll let Hook see out his contract but announce Dean's homecoming around Anzac Day next year :(

Deep b
Stop.

Everyone take a breath.
A long , deep breath.
Then take another.

Gather up your Family , sit around a log fire , join hands & sing :
"Kumbuya my Lord , kumbuya
Kumbuya my Lord , kumbuya ... "

Works for Me !
Deep breaths , don't work anymore for me , because I have been doing this for the last 7 years holding my breath waiting for things to change ..... If I hold on any longer I will pass out .....

Dragons dont like obvious solutions Im afraid

I would love to be a fly on the wall in those BOD meetings and do they just talk about the fried rice and penfolds

Nah…They resigned the bloke before a game had been played this season after an 8 week losing streak. All he has to do to be resigned it seems is to turn up to the end of year review where we all know he’ll pass with flying colours. This club does my head in. Me thinks I won’t be signing up to be a red V member next year. These merkins have pushed me over the edge

Hook would have given the excuse to the Board that because of the BBQ fiasco and subsequent termination of Vaughn's contract and the "sequential" suspensions of players who attended the BBQ, it was difficult to have the team gel each week because of the changes needed to be done. So 8 straight losses to end last seasons first year for Hook at the Dragons - Hunt was missing for a lot of those 8 weeks and if, a big IF, he did play, the Dragons might have made the top 8. That would have been Hook's reasons and hence the Board felt sorry for him and gave him 2023 as a token of their gratitude. Little did they know that Hook had lost the plot anyway evidenced by the failure to make the top 8 this year. When will the Board learn?

Yep. The fact that the players didn’t respect him enough to listen to him and not have a bbq speaks volumes. The club should never have resigned him at the beginning of the year. Then again, when has this club done anything right?

The management of Dragons could not have sabotaged this club any better if they had tried deliberately. I can't see we will even have a squad of 30 players next year...abysmal. I have followed the Dragons for over 50 years and it breaks my heart to see them just sit idly by and watch the walls crumble around their ears without a whimper
My exact words. I too am a 50 year Dragons man and will be for life.

My words precisely "sold our soul". Oh to be a stand alone club again. I'd take some mediocre performances in the first year for that to happen.
I remember, at the time, saying to my wife "This will kill this club. It is impossible that St George can be combined with any other club." Even worse, it has never been a merger, but rather a joint venture. Jees, that was dumb. It's like the Judgment of Solomon in reverse; both mothers still claim to be the true one and the child has turned out to be conjoined twins, still unable to run, because it shares a middle leg. The JV even has to 'share' the Chair. So the entity as a whole is, no doubt, schizophrenic and resentful starting at the Boardroom table.
Is it possible for the JV partners to decide to dissolve the JV and go back to being separate? That's the starting point if we (ie; both St George and Illawarra) ever want to regain our self respect.

Yep. I hate the fact that we had to merge with another club, play in a totally different city and wear a red rag now and again. But the kick in the pants is that you would think merging 2 teams would make the team stronger. Nope. This merged team is as piss weak as ever.
