I think we should just let Sullivan go. It is apparent he won't really get a shot, given that Hook will only play Hunt at 7.

I know people say he should bide his time or keep him in reserve grade, but he's 21, he's got the Dogs after him, who can probably offer more certainty around his game time. Why would you wan to stay? There is no point keeping an unhappy player, no matter what.

According to Possm's maths, with the money we save from Sullivan, we should be able to afford Haas, Fitita and Taumalolo.

If Saints grant Jayden a release they should put in a proviso that he can't join the Dogs. A soon as he has a contract signed by another club greater than 3 years then they grant the release asap. Then Saints can go for Jayden when Ben retires if needed. That will show the scum for talking to both Saints halves while they were both contracted. If Sullivan went anywhere else I would not care but not a team that has caused this unrest.

Young Bud needs to realise that he at this point he doesn’t have a shiny halo above his big head . At least Hunt is a representative player at the highest level - Australia and Queensland .

The boy needs to clamp his mouth and do the hard yards - as so many other members have said . Should he leave the club then wherever he goes they will be expecting a ready made halfback , not a wannebe .

It’s a dilemma.

Do the juniors wait and see if Hook survives, or a new coach is appointed.

It may be that the best approach is to seek a direct swap of a quality player, preferably a forward for Sullivan and Sloan.

I don’t think the club should release either player however our club won’t benefit from Hook keeping both juniors in reserve grade.

Ultimately Hook probably has 8-10 games next season to justify his extension. If he fails a new coach may take an entirely different approach.

Wasnt Sullivan quoted saying he was staying at the Dragons for next year, I think it was at the Koori Cup, please dont tell me he didnt know Hunt would sign for an extra 2 years.

Hunt has done nothing significant
Failed to get us to the finals
Never re-paid us in football success for the pay packet he has been on and now may cost us our best junior
What a club man

The journo's reported that Papalii was reneging to stay at the Eels for months and never happened. Papalii even came out and said that he spoke to the Tigers and assured them he was coming during the period which the journo's did not report so they can probably keep the story going . Hopefully this is the same type of journalism for Bud and they are just stirring the pot.

If it is that public then the NRL should surely step in you would think seeing both halves from the same club are being spoken too by the 1 club. Are the Dogs that confident the NRL won't give a cra& that they can go public? Are Saints BOD that stupid not to act on it if true?

Buds alleged asking for a release will come up in every third rate journo's comments on the Dragons between now and game one in 2023. Ah social media. Don't we love it. It's going to be a long 5 months.
I think it will be a long 12 months mate to be honest. Hopefully this time next season Saints have a new coach on board and some exciting plans for the following season because it aint happening now. The only thing we can hope is juniors stay and get some game time in between now and then. Sullivan surely would want to stay on and play his furture NRL games along side Amone. That alone should be a huge reason to stay and motivate the kid. Saints invested in him and gave him a long contract 12 months ago which shows how highly they value him and have him in their future plans. Hook will be gone if Bud gets no game time as Hunt tried to force Saints hand by blackmailing them to keep him and it did not work so it shows that Hook is not in their plans as much as Sloan and Bud are.

Ben Haran wants SGI fans to be "excited" about the re-signing of Hunt. Sorry, but I'm not feeling it. We talk (and rightly so in some instances) about "entitled" young players wanting to be rewarded before they've done anything to earn the reward. In the case of Hunt, we're talking about someone who extorted a (reported) $1.8million over two years by the end of which he will be 35. Meanwhile, Buddy Franklin at age 35 put in a shocker on GF day- and has been below average for the last couple of year- while pocketing the Swans millions. Yes- you can't compare the two players- but Hunt on $900k at 35 will be a huge gamble- and we shouldn't have been pressured by Hunt in having to make that gamble- given what we have already done to secure his future.

Now that the decision has been made, all concerned must find an agreed solution and get on with it.

I suggest Sullivan to 9, Hunt to 7. Bring Sullivan on slowly by giving him stints at 7 during the game. Then once he demonstrates his got the goods, move Hunt to 9 and Sullivan to 7.

From 2024 on, Sullivan to 7 and Hunt to 9; that is of course if Sullivan cuts the mustard.

When it comes to Sloan, I believe he needs to do a bit more work on his defensive skills and on his confidence in taking the high ball (just like Dufty). If he does move forward on this, I'm sure he will get plenty of opportunities at fullback. Griffin did hive him first chop in 2022 and I see no reason, if Sloan is up to it, he won't give Sloan another chance in 2023. Competition with Ramsey is a good thing for Club and its players.

Just watched the video of Hunts resigning on nrl.com.....strangely, his teammates have a much higher opinion of him and his value to the team than a lot of fans do
Maybe he should give his team mates most of the hugely overpaid packet he is on for proping him up during the last 5 years.(Just like Weekend At Bernie's)
He also owes the media big time for constantly reminding us what a great season he was having and if anyone has by any chance forgotten
"He was leading the Dally M's before they went behind closed doors"
What a joke
IMO if Sullivan was 7 he would have been leading and WON the bloody Dally M's

Firstly, you can't blame Ben Hunt for what he was or is being paid. The club decides if he is worth that much, not him.

And secondly, Sullivan would've won the Dally M this year if he played halfback? Now I know you are taking the piss.

I know it’s only rumoured by journalists, but if this club let Sullivan & Sloan walk out the front door then we are run by complete morons.
Invest & develop the youth, instead of buying recycled old hacks.
I’d rather this prick of a club get rid of Hook a year early, than see the long term damage that will unfold.
Pay him out & give the reigns to Flanno with the instruction to give the youth some experience and opportunity.
