Another dumb rule change to make the game even more unrecognisable from the game we all grew up with.
One of the stupidest rules I've seen brought in. 6 again still takes the cake, but at least they tweaked that to make it at least bearable. This is just unbelievable. Absolutely no one asked for that rule. Guarantee some teams will start kicking the ball out on the full on purpose. Every single line drop out will be short because there's little to no risk in going short now. So I'm not sure how the dope Annesley supposes the game will be more "unpredictable" given this rule change considering every line drop out will now be a short one, thus making the game more predictable (plus it will just look farcical). I'd be shocked if this rule was here to stay, it's going to make the game look incredibly stupid. No need for it.

The rule I assumed they would add.. is that whoever is catching the ball can catch it wherever it happens to land.... if the kicker doesnt kick it 10m, I dont see why thats the catchers problem whatsoever..

We got hammered for that last year.. trying to work out the millisecond it crosses the invisible 10m plane.

Meaningless if the Sea Eagles wont release him, which they already have said they wont, its up to the manager to cook up a deal I guess.
While I don't think he is a bad player, i am not entirely sure he is the type of player we need.
We have plenty of the bigger body bash and barge type players but very few of the genuine quick athletic players.
While the chances of getting someone like Koula are next to none, especially compared to Tuipolotu, he is the player I would be trying to entice out of there.

from memory he played a fair bit of centre also in junior years?

This would give us flexibility if we are letting say Birdy go and or Lomax to FB if injury strikes Sloan etc

But more than likely is him playing left wing and Rava right wing and that takes alot of pressure off Sloans kick returns and us getting early metres

Something will eventuate as The Eagles are desperate to sign up Nathan Brown to a top 30 who reportedly is working the house down , so they maybe forced to let the winger go...
Alternately we make a move for Brown to stiffen up our forward pack..

Plenty of times clubs approach other players and clubs about getting an early release from their contracts and get the initial knock back.
I would not rule out either Woolford or this Manly back joining us in the coming weeks or month or so.
As @dungay dragon has stated, clubs like Manly and a few others are still trying to squeeze players into their top 30.
We have planted the seed with 2 clubs that we know of about signing their players a year or 2 early, so time to wait and see if anything eventuates in the near future.

I think a left-winger is not such a high priority. This is one position that you could place a junior with potential in. I believe we probably have a couple of candidates ready now and if not, we could still use a Flanno-coached Feagai in the position until Sloan returns.

Offical!

At long last. Thank goodness we now have confirmation that Squadron Energy will be our major sponsors from 2025 and hopefully for a long time. We can now rest easy with this news and we can now concentrate on getting better results on the field.

I have no doubt Flanno will have us more equipped to handle short dropouts (versus 2023)... but I think this part of the game showcases how non-athletic our side is.. Rava, Feagai, Suli, Other Feagai, BMM etc.. none of these guys are going to out-jump most of the talented outside backs or 2nd rowers out there.. they are tanks on legs.

We have to have Lomax on point for 1 side and see whos the best jumper on the other.. and drill the hell out of it.. get them practice assessing the moment to go for the catch.. i often wonder if they can use their bodies (inside the 10m zone) to shield the ball as it crosses the 10m plane... flanno is smarter than me, im sure he will figure it out.

Most of the try's against us are scored down our left side I believe, by quite some margin. We need speed for sure but a great defensive winger would be fantastic - someone who's both (like BMorris) would be even better.
