Yeh sack Ryles
Can’t keep his own players snd get deals done
Sound familiar?
People on here were peeved when we missed him quoting that he did not want us because he could run his own shop elsewhere as we are a basket case (which we were) and was the next big Ciraldo in waiting.
ha.. he is now at another basket case club excerpt has better halves for now to build around
And one of our best players for less money which completely sucks eggs

I'm opting for Big Rigs narrative.. far more appealing.. the reasons he comes to us:

o We give him that 3yrs which he wont get if he stays, or if he goes to the Rorters.
o We're also going to pay him more during that 3yrs than a big name club.
o Flanno has the relationship already, best-mates.
o Val has his choice of position.. probably fullback.
o Val can get back to living in the shire where he has probably wanted to get back too anyway.
o He has a new ambrose partner with an all round top bloke.

As you can see, its a slam-dunk case, im happy to write this up and stick it in an email to his manager if there is any more confusion.

I knew we were not getting Talagi - it was taking too long. Moses, his manager, is very cunning from what I have heard. Penrith kept it very quiet. It just hurts that Lomax is leaving us for a basket case of a club that can't even keep their best junior for less money.
I doubt we were even realistically in the conversation but our recruitment staff really do need to be shown the door.
Yep see ya Flano

It could also be a ploy from Holmes manager to put pressure on the Cowboys to extend him. Apparently the hammer wants to head to the cowboys too.

We could be Holmes fallback option depending on the Hammer situation. It makes sense why the Dolphins went after Talagi because they've got a strong feeling the Hammer will leave.

I will not believe anything until I see the dragons official statement.

I’ve got word that we have come to an agreement with the Knights in regards to Daniel Saifiti and that he has signed for 2 yrs announcement imminent

Also heard that we have signed Valentine Holmes and are just confirming minor details in regards to how much Cowboys chip in , looking like a 3 year deal

Flanno and Holmes have been talking for a long while about this

I trust your source BR, but like many, I don't trust Dragons hierarchy. It seems like Flanno is working his ass off but with little corporate support. Well that's what it appears to be from the outside and what I believe until I hear otherwise. Just waiting for the Stephano to the mangy dogs confirmation.

I've maintained that I don't believe Talagi is the player he's talked up to be. Penrith will probably be a good spot for him to get the best out of himself and no doubt increase the pay packet of his next deal. Val Holmes, D Saf and Cook are probably good enough additions to our team in the short term to make us more competitive, and thus attract a bigger name or names in the long run.
Parko the biggest problem with these Young Superstars...None of them can tackle
Walsh , Mann, Sloan , Sailor ,Tallagi etc etc All turnstiles in defence ...
What happened to defensive drills coming through the junior ranks ??
Tallagi yes is talented but no more than the others mentioned
Opp Coaches will target him big time when perched beside Cleary at the Panthers

I've said it before DD, its much more exciting for the NRL and TV ratings to score a try and do your post try celebrations, than it is to stop one. The defensive game as we used to know it will never be the same again, nor will the scorelines.

Unfortunately for young Polynesian kids like the Talagi brothers, just moving down the M4 to Penrith is way more appealing than spoons in Parramatta or being uprooted to Wollongong.
Hopefully we keep Halangahu, Latu and Tonga when there contract discussions begin this time next year
Halangahu I heard is moving down to Gong - someone else mentioned it. Tonga is also a St George local, has nothing to do with Penrith. Latu from the riff but he and Halangahu hate Penrith someone mentioned due to the way they were treated

It looks like we are really going to have to rely on our talented juniors coming on the way recruitment is going. Let's hope they do and we can retain them as well.

and ‘develop’ our juniors perhaps a little more effectively for First Grade, so they are more effective in First Grade!
Well at least we seem to have a good coach in place to help those young guys transition into first grade for the first time in a decade or so. The poor young guys coming through under McGregor & Griffin never really had a chance with those 2 morons overseeing their development.

My POV for what it's worth
Cook, Holmes, Saifiti & hopefully one more big boppa of note.
An improvement on last years recruitment, combined with a fit Corey Alan.
IF Flanno can gel this lot, along with current roster, to eliminate the floggings and be recognised as a worthy top 8 team 2025, then future recruitment becomes so much easier.

Wish there was a quicker path but reality dictates NOT.
Yep I harp about this but AFB was an absolute rebuild cheat-code.. off the back we would have landed recruits, but without him its a >2yr 'onion layer' rebuild.. small upgrades over and over and over again... 2yrs is a rly long time.. rly long.. I think whats happening is we dont have the skill/endurance to keep up the defensive structure we train for.... there are too many chinks in the armour. Flanno has to 'get us up' and its not sustainable.. and it sort of only works when were also scoring points.

But the thing is hes trained with every one of these blokes now, he knows who has more to give, whos capped out, whos not going to be able to get the level he needs.. it gets exposed when they arent in position in defence.. so he knows who to offload, and what he needs to recruit.. there is no guarantee Saifiti and whoever else we get end up great signings.. bit like Sele and his injuries.. but the player quality keeps improving.. at some point in the next 18mths.. we should be giving away far less of those big scores.
