I think they are both good but I definitely think you are right. Liddle has been under appreciated. He's has been awesome, and has contributed much more than I expected. The defence and the attacking from dummy half, as well as many of the little things that go unseen. Cook has proven his versatility and I'll be similarly glad to have both of them in the 17.
I guess my point is, we utilise 4 Forwards on the bench currently.
It’s a massive risk should there be injury to a half or outside back

But with no injury in the backs, it plays into our strength, the power game!

But in 2025, we utilise a specialist hooker on the bench? How has that resolved our coverage for ‘outside backs” or improved the power game? (And don’t tell me Cook in centres – Shite!!!)

It just seem a big shift from what has been happening, and working, bar inopportune injury. I thought a quality, bigger body, 14 a better investment along with an upgrade in cover, being Connor Muhleisen - Goneski!.

But, although confused, I’m sure Flanno will make it work.
Will be interesting to watch and I’m happy to be wrong.

Anyway, I'm off to hone my NRL coaches resume. Wonder for what team I'll be applying? Won't be the Dragons. They are sweet for a good coach!

Cook or Liddle are good enough to justify a utility role on the bench in my view. Look what happened in a couple games this year and in particularly the ANZAC game when we had Eisenhuth at centre. Could have done with Cook on the bench but also Liddle doesn't do 80 minutes well.

Some teams have a hooker/utility on the bench, some don't. Wishart on the weekend for example. I don't know what is exactly the plan from the coach but with three huge mobile players and eith Cook or Liddle on the bench I would see as an improvement. Not necessarily every game. Then there is always injuries and depth plus the fact he came cheap.

The signing of Cook does not resolve our major issues which are in the backs and prop. That's a whole other story.
Identifying the players we need and getting them to sign on the dotted are two completely different things. It has completely devastated us for years.

Honestly its so easy to get complacent that we are currently running: one 7, one 9, one 1, one 6.. and somehow we have barely had an injury this year, but compare us to many other sides in the comp that have literally not even had their main spines on the field at the same time.. for huge chunks of the year.

Cook gives us that 1-2 punch, it stops us trying to run liddle 80mins a week, and it gives us some proper cover for injury in that position, and im sure he could cover halves injuries during a game... plus I actually think hes going to bring us to life in the back end of halves... but thats a bonus on top.

One of Flanno's jobs is going to be getting real cover for 1,6,7 now.. if we sign Holmes + MaxF, then im ok because if Sloan goes down, Val goes to 1, Max to RCtr, Suli to LCtr.. its disruptive but its the bare minimum if we arent signing anyone else... if we have a couple of injuries though.. its gonna get ugly fast... we lost a lot of nsw cup depth.. or rather we will if rava+bird go.

The other position we need to cover is 6&7, there are a few ways we can do this.. but we need Marshke or better.. honestly how many serious halves injuries do you see in almost every side.. like we dont want to throw away a year when we get 1 key injury.. thats where we are trying to get too.. but it takes time because some of that 2nd or 3rd string depth should be the young ones in NSW Cup.. which isnt really happening yet.. its still a work in progress, we are developing those 17-18-19yr olds now... toughening up our Flegg team and eventually Cup.. but it takes years to make first graders out of them.

I can however understand that Flanno wants his pack to kick butt... thats his priority and im good with it.... he wants to be able to bash teams every week and keep his team in the contest at the very minimum... I can get behind that idea.
