The Rumours Thread

Dragons will only complete a deal for Hunt if they can obtain a player or players of equal value. Also, it mightn’t necessarily be a half, just someone who the Dragons need to make the team better. There might be a 3rd team involved. It’s just tougher for Shane Flanagan as he doesn’t have a competent GM or recruitment/retention person to help him.
I think Hunt would love to finish at the Broncos if he had his way. Ideal 14 and then 7 when Reynolds is injured which is a lot these days.

He is leading the try assists because he demands the ball 3 or 4 plays in every set. He doesn't allow our other players makers any opportunity to show what they can do. He is a very good footballer who should take a backseat occasionally and let someone else try something. We wouldn't be so predictable and Benny would ONLY have good games like he does in Origin. I think the pressure to DO EVERYTHING has affected his form. Whenever he hasn't played, our halves have performed extremely well. We play more like a Team when he isn't there. And I've always been a Ben Hunt fan. The last 2 seasons he has played as a very selfish individual.
Flanno should have insisted that Hunt play hooker in 2024. If he refused then drop him to reserve-grade. He will soon learn to do as he was told. Lomax did not want to play wing but look how his game improved when he followed Flanno's instruction.

Manly had a similar problem with Shuster who only wanted to play 5/8. Now it looks like Bennett will play him at lock at Souths. You can't have players telling the coach where they will play.

Josh reminds me of one of those plastic toy thingy that look like a huge bowling pin. You know the ones..you fill the bottom up with a bit of water and when you punch or kick the pin it gets smashed to the ground but then it pops straight upright again.
Josh is like one of those fat pins but takes a little longer to get up again. :)

But it has to be someone half decent.. cant be someone in reserve grade.. and that means they need someone whos interested in leaving.. im not sure how that conversation goes down exactly.. go down a list and see who is secretly keen to leave..

Surely, if you are first grade quality who isn't getting picked in the run on squad or there for injuries, they would sign with a club that offers a first grade spot. Even if it's just to get regular game time in firsts.

hunt swap for averillo, and we sign Schuster plus another forward? that's a win
It would be great if that rumor came true. Hope the forward is a good prop.
1. Holmes - safe in defense and under the high ball, brilliant in attack.
2. Feagai - will improve markedly in the off-season
3 Suli
4. Amerrillo
5. Allan
6. Schuster
7. Flannagan
8. RCG
9. ook
10. Thompson
11. Leilua
12. Su'A
13. De Belin

14. Liddle
15. Molo
16. T Couchman
17. R Couchman/Eisenhuth

I'm sure coach Flannagan can work some magic with that lot.

Possm you've given up on Wishart already?

The only realistic swap deal is Averillo, however, he is contracted until '26 with the Dolphins. Although not like for like, he would bring much needed pace, be that in the halves or backline. The ultimate question is does any player, who currently is under contract want to:
(a) Agree to leave their current club
(b) Agree to join the Dragons

If the answer is no to either (a) or (b) then there's no deal. Hunt can obviously request a release in the hope one team has enough cap space to fit him in.

I'm guessing you haven't heard RCG & management have both said he will not be at the Dragons next year
