Continues in the paper tomorrow with a Brent Read article about the pursuit of Gutherson and how that impacts on Hunt.
There is something about Hunt.. they just love writing headlines about him.. also combined with his inability to not empty his guts when questioned.

TBF its probably at one of the quieter times of the year also, all the big clubs have got their squads sorted.. we havent even begun yet.. there is between 3-7 players to come in yet.. not one of those deals done in the last 7 weeks.. or if they are.. they aren't announced yet.

I guess atleast when Nov 1 hits, there will be more to talk about (other than just Ben).

It wouldnt be sharks, they have a surplus of halves options, and Brailey is loved as their hooker..

Just gonna be a long 3-4 weeks I suspect, waiting for yes or no on these signings (Gutho, JAC, Lodge).. and on top of that... listening to Hunt headlines until we are allowed to talk to the Nov 1 players, where we can see if we can get them early. Gonna be very tedious.

I do agree with others though, that Atkinson is no guarantee of success.. neither was Wishart.. Trindall would be more of a guarantee with his experience.. but like I keep repeating.. there is literally no sure thing out there.. and certainly not that is coming to us.. you just have to look for the raw ingredients and let Flanno get the best out of him.. and in the case of halves.. we would need a backup plan also.
I really think it would be a mistake to let Hunt go early. There aren't many halves' options out there, and we don't have anyone in our team or reserve grade ready to step into those shoes.

Keeping him shows we are a soft touch and easily f**ked over

So keep him and you create a new Hunt to do exactly the same thing.

That’s the great thing about Lomax done and dusted clean break.

A year ago I said the same but if he has no takers I’d do a reverse Gordon Tallis, and sit him out in the stands.

I am convinced he is a talent but he is not a team player nor is a good player under pressure. Try something different this year and you never know.

A footy team is usually either ready to seriously challenge for a premiership or building towards a challenge. With Hunt, I don’t see neither of those scenarios, so keeping him on for another 12 months makes no sense.
Exactly. We have to start moving in a new direction.

The fans know it.
The club knows it.
The coach knows it.
The player himself knows it.

Hunt's spot should be vacant so we can do something with it when the right man comes along. Let the Titans or Dolphins have him.

If Hunt is seeing out his contract with us one thing for sure; we are just completely wasting another season pretending to be trying to win the comp. He is bad business for us plain and simple and that ship has sailed.

Be done with him.
Couldn't agree more- the real concern for me is that "sources close to the club" are being quoted as asking "why would we let him go"- as if he's the key to our reincarnation- Hullo!

There are losers and winners in the Hunt Affair. He goes and we can then focus on building the club up from a reasonable footing Flanno has reached this year for the future. Hunt cannot stay at the Dragons in 2025 because of what has happened from Griffin's sacking to the end of 2024 review. The club would remain on the middle floor rather than rise to a higher level and the sooner we don't have that hindrance, the sooner we will progress and become a better team. Hunt goes, we win. Hunt stays we lose.

Flanno knows what he wants. Players who want to play for the Dragons and when you have players wanting this everyone has the same resolve and purpose to put in the hard work for successful results.

You may be right but the precedence was set with the 13? year old boy and Adam Goodes quite a while ago now.
In today's world no matter what your stance is one word cost Spencer eight weeks on the side line and will happen again.
Just stick to old fashioned swearing and old non racial slang terms on the field and you cant go wrong.
