My 2 cents on Sullivan

i always loved him as a player, and thought he has huge potential. However, somebody mentioned the chip on his shoulder, others how he had the entitlement attitude and expected the big bucks. both true. I’d add to this the injury prone aspect that worries me.

however, he expressed he loved the dragons even when leaving, and with the right attitude could shine. I’d like Flanno to have a chat with him. Basically say we bring you in (costs us say 300yr) as a reserve grade half. You work hard and perform, then there is a great chance to break into 1st grade as we have no star signing that is a road block. Work on these skills and you can be there. Typically Flanno tough love. He decides if he goes that route or stays at tigers with no chance to progress, or heads to supper league or whatever.

worst case he is descent injury cover at a reasonable price. Best case he becomes the star we always wanted him to be. he is still young, but has experienced a lot. I say worth it if he can convince Flanno of the right attitude and work ethic.

The NRL have granted us salary cap relief for Cody Ramsey his 200k wage this year will not be on the cap and he will not take a spot in the Top 30
Thank god for that, cheers BRig.. ive been saying it for ages, the deadline doesnt make sense... if he comes good he comes good.. but the pressure to have to retire by a certain date isnt right for anyone.

tbf they originally seemed very worried we were trying to 'game' the system, I think they get it now.. this also means JAC is more feasible... if indeed we would take that path.. or a rugby dude.

Yes, thanks for the info Big Rig. Let's hope that Cody gets better for a life befitting of his great character and if he does indeed be able to play NRL again, that would be fantastic. We know that things may not turn out for him to be able to play again, but there is always hope.

Gazza I partly agree. No doubt Hunt wanted out and Flanno said all the right things publicly..but
I believe in the beginning Flanno needed Hunt no doubt this year and even said early on tyhis year lets look at 2026 sucking up.

I said 12 months ago, reading between the lines based on Flannos words that he guaranteed this year only and would revisit it then based on the antics in 2023.
Flanno is no fool and the way Hunt / manager carried on would never have been lost on him..nor the club for that fact. We seemingly got Hunt on side then when it was time....

Hunt was never a guarantee for next year despite what was trotted in the media
He got a kick up the arse and guess what do you know...he is gone.
Flanno played the game of Hunt publicly and internally well IMO.
Fully agree with your assessment of the actual situation BLMO1 , although I must confess I ( as well as plenty of others ) were rather rattled by it all .

However it played out as you have said and I thank the footy gods that the Dragons finally had a coach who not only knew how to play Hunt’s game , but Trump ( - I do hope that is not classed as a swear word nowadays ) it .

How do people feel about Dylan Brown for 2026?
That’s who we should be targeting big time. He’s in a relationship with Brad Arthurs daughter and since BA was shown the door the likelihood of him leaving Parra is much higher than before. Especially if Ryles struggles in the early rounds next season.
