"Damien Cook has urged the club to go hard in their pursuit of Rabbitohs halfback Lachlan Ilias heading into next season."

Happy to have Cook on field, love his commitment, but wish he'd stop being public regarding recruitment. This is the same bloke who urged Hunt to stay (f**k)

RE Ilias - Good half but not as good as KF (IMO)
Atkinson, however, can play half and 5/8.
To me Ilias would be a backup recruit but with Anasta as manager we'd be paying freight above his worth.

It is great that we finally signed Gutho as our new fullback. I still hope we land Lodge, May, and a top halfback. Our squad could match it with most sides if we signed these players for 2025.

1. Gutho
2. JAC
3. Suli
4. Holmes
5. Tuipulotu
6. K Flannagan
7. ?
8. Lodge
9. Cook
10. May
11. Leilua
12. Su'A
13. De Belin

14. Liddel
15. Molo
16. Couchman
17. ?

Dunno if I can believe that one.. we desperately need a backup 7 to play NSW Cup and cover 1st grade.. we also have no actual hooker depth if Cook or Liddle cop a serious injury.. whos gonna play 14 etc..

Esp at a budget price, I assume its more we just dont want to go down that path again.. has to be more too it...

for some reason Glover is still hanging around.

In recent years we have suffered horrendously for leadership and direction

As a result Hunt got the captaincy a job he was poor at but there was no obvious alternative.

If Hunt wasn’t on the field and we got a penalty it got even worse with players looking at each other and over their shoulders not knowing what to do and waisting valuable time allowing our opposition to regroup.

With Gutho, Cook, Holmes on the field instantly we have positive decision making, clear direction and the ability to get the opposition under pressure maybe creating another penalty or a six again etc.

We should now be a side that can play faster and with higher intensity which is the hallmark of the better teams especially the top 4. I truly believe by mid season the Couchman’s will start to shine with their superior fitness and leg speed.

No room for the likes of Mud Guts Lawrie and Big Luc better lose a few Kgs as well otherwise he’ll be a bench player at best.

Hunt so often looked like a clueless space cadet and was a constant handbrake on our team so now we have an opportunity to go from a Morris Minor with a crash gear box to a 186 S Kingswood Premier with synchromesh.

Hopefully we get the GTS Monaro upgrade when a good half comes on board.

A lot of posters on here not happy with Luc for his fitness but I thought he was one of our better players this year and criticism is a bit harsh. He was quite damaging at times on the left and gave us some potency at times when there was none. Yes, he can lift his fitness but I back him to have a big year with what I think will be a more content backline powering our attack.

Yes, players should not comment on recruitment.

Damaging in attack and we need more of that but at times horrendous in defence and we need less of that.

The key to Luc fixing both of those is fitness not ability.

The left side will see far more ball now that Benny Ball has gone.
CC
Exactly the reason why Big Luc needs to be much fitter.

Hunt being Hunt and his constant ability to get our outside men flat footed meant our edges were never able to dominate but now that he is gone I believe the opportunity for that to happen will just occur naturally.

I fully expect the ball to go through many more sets of hands as the outside men get set deeper.

I am also excited as I fully expect Gutho to pop up from the back to provide the much needed speedy link allowing the bigger men to get over the advantage line.

Hopefully the so called JDB ball playing days are well and truly behind us and that JDB is actually charging onto the good ball provided to him by others that have the soft hands to do that.

Do Warriors bosses perhaps recall the mauling Junior Kangaroo play maker Boyd gave the Junior Kiwis a decade ago. He had a huge hand in almost every try in a match the Aussies won by about 30 if memory serves. Sadly this guy has since failed to realize his full potential.
Boyd was the "Alfi" of the younger grades & I thought he was the next in line but just doesn't seem to have enough toughfness in him to take on the larger adults in attacking & noticably in defence, so I was greatly relieved when he went to the Warriors.

Braiff doesn't have much choice, he's not in the drivers seat on this one.

Forget Wishart, the way the Storm speak about him there is not a chance they let him go, he will play for them for a for
For all the talk from the Storm, they love him because he’s an amazing back-up option and he’s super cheap.
The pitch from Flanagan would be to remind him quietly that he’s a utility there, pure and simple. Come back to the Dragons, you’ll be a first choice half, in front of your people, you’ll be a superstar. Plus we’ll double your money.
That could be enough for him to agitate for a move, trouble is he seems like a great kid who will want to do the right thing by the Storm as they gave him his big break.
