Bunty afoa, wouldn't break the bank either just throwing it out there he isn't bad for short stints
Any prospective signings now hinge on the decision made at the Storm
Paps being offered serious coin to head to dogs and or Sharks
IF they decide to keep him Faulogo and or Wishart likely to be moved on
An early exit from Welch would assist greatly the Storm into topping up at least two of the three
So best not to go hard now for Welch unless Flanno does have a Half in mind
Sharks chasing Volkman doesnt seem to make much sense unless Atkinson is agitating for a release..
More than Handy Pick up
Then we could look at Welch Afoa or Pole from the Tigers
The Lodge ( bunnies) and Thompson (knights) are now less likely

If Saints can get Klemmer for 400k (Tigers to throw in 300k, which I am sure they would) I think it may be a good decent buy. Maybe also offer to take Welch off the Storm for similar cash as they may also tip in for that. 2 decent props for 800k.

Now that would be Hook's way of thinking and blocking guys like Couchman's from game time. hence why Saints are in a bad spot. Stay away from these used by cheapies and look at good talent or up and comers. Flanno needs to bring in a guy that is better than what they have and if that is not possible make what he has better in the off season.

Flanno not rushing for a half for good reason and he can see something brewing and teams scrambling like the Storm and Sharks to make room in the cap so he can keep their star players. The same may happen for a prop. Flanno threw a hand grenade with Hunt into the feeding frenzy to see what may also come up.

I'm still eager to see us not invest in hasbeens for the sake of it, because we need a bigger body etc. So, we have Sele, the Couchies and LPT, all on the improve and hopefully give us a decent season of time in the field. I dont think Flanno is in a rush for anything until something positive shows up on the radar, and then 2026 is where we really start to see some of our junior forwards really starting to kick in.

i suspect it is both lanes still moving

ie Flano is sounding patient in media discussions...............but that may because he hasnt been able to get what he wants just yet..........or if another club really wants a particular player then this causes a ripple to let go of a top30 player........which means we are ready because we have a spot free

in our case we have two spots..........this could also be very helpful until we get LKT across the line beyond 2025. He has an offer and if he sees a serious half joins right now he maybe reluctant to stay with us for 2026

Yes. Please, no more Aaron Woods, James Graham's etc. Middle is now a dynamic, athletic position for younger men with explosive strength and the ability to make post-contact meters.

Even over at the sharks forum questions are already being asked about the age of AFB. He is 29 and his deal is for FOUR years.

And the game is now faster than ever. So pls no more aging props who think they can get a couple more years by pretending to be oversized 5/8s when they should be charging into the line.

The other interesting play is St George Illawarra having a serious look at signing South Sydney halfback Lachlan Ilias.

New Dragons hooker Damien Cook is a fan of Ilias from his time at the Rabbitohs and the Red V have even gone as far as doing a medical check on the Bunnies playmaker.

Nothing’s going to happen in the immediate future but don’t be surprised if St George Illawarra decide to also add Ilias to new recruits Cook, Clint Gutherson and Valentine Holmes.

Lachlan Ilias has recently done a medical assessment at the Dragons apparently, according to FOX

I don't know if he is a right fit for us, but people have short memories. The kid broke his tibia after being dropped, was out for months and then released.

Jason Demetrio rated him highly, until, his own position came into question.

The kid can play. He was surrounded by underperforming stars and was made a scapegoat.

Yeah it’s hard to get a gauge on him, I haven’t seen much of him play to be honest. Demetrio wasn’t the one calling the shots, he was basically pandering to a select few who were.
Was Illias in the wrong place at the wrong time? Maybe. He could come at the right price on a budget deal and if he comes good it’s a bonus.
