I feel that the Doust's and Young's don't have as much power anymore as this Lancaster guy seems to be pulling the strings and he seems ruthless. They are not ruching to bring in the CEO and a recruitment manager because they seem to be waiting for the right one to come along and not just hiring anyone. Since I heard his name bandied around the clubs decisions they have been far more positive than negative. I feel he has made a huge difference and hope he is around longer than the 3 years he is contracted for.

I just don’t get this Flano contract discussion. Hasn’t he got another two years on his current contract?
If he wants to stay at StGI he will. If he wants to consider other options he wouldn’t accept an extension anyway, would he?
As far as I know there’s no evidence whatsoever that Dean and Craig Young and Doust are white-anting Flano.
The discussion just seems paranoid to me.

Totally agree with this. 1 bullshit article has caused so much doubt on our coach who in an interview said how big a fan the Flanno's are of the Dragons especially his father may he rest in peace. I am sure Saints are giving him a decent wage for him to survive and is not on a minimum wage.

The previous annual change of Chairman was utterly dysfunctional. Changing to three years was the right governance decision. The resulting rationalisation of the broader strategy is a result. All organisations take on the personality of the person at the top. Really rigorous assessments of the personalities of the Chairperson and CEO are the first and most important steps in changing any organisation’s ‘culture’. It’s fascinating - but also really obvious when you think about it.

If Flanagan isn’t re-signed prior to round 1 we are brain dead
Why there is no hurry, dont fall for the media hysteria vitriole for kicks and feedback
His manager being a high profile agitator is doing his job
see how he goes for the main part of this year, still has another year left.
We have been down that panic knee jerk reaction before
Wayne was the one they waited too long before doing anything after he actually proved himself in his 1st year taking us to minor premiers

I believe Dean Young and his farther along with Doust are plotting to install Dean Young as head coach. None of the above mentioned have ever acted in the best interest of Saints over the past 10 years.
Sorry possum but people have been banging on about this conspiracy theory for over a decade and we've had some very ordinary head coaches and now if them have been named Dean Young yet.

Don't you think if it was going to happen it would have by now?

I have been following the debate on whether to resign Coach Flano ASAP or wait to see whether the improvements continue throughout 2025. I believe that the argument to sign him now is the best approach primarily because players appear to want to play under his coaching.

Our best chance of attracting quality recruits for 2026 and onwards is to be able to demonstrate that we have locked in a professional coach who has experienced success and is going to be here for the term of their contract.

Apart from doubling the wins under Hook, the recruitment he has achieved this last few months (best since Bennett), is enough for wanting his tenure extended. Can't believe people can't see the value in Flanno's recruitment roadshow.

IMO Recruitment had not been one of his strong points.
We have missed out on all our targets where there was competition. That is a worry
Yes we signed 3 that fell in our laps with no rivals
Ilias, yes, but Cook and Wayne played a big role
Atkinson, yes.tick full credit and hopefully it is sealed soon as it should not have got out till after the cooling off
Lawson good specky signing
Until players want to come here to play under Flano then you can not say he is a strong recruiter

This is amazing bullshit.

Top. Shelf. Bullshit.

Nothing less than you’d expect.

This is actually where St. George DRLFC is at and is all about.

You deserve to lose that jersey to people who love it, irrespective of where they come from or who their Dad is.

I'm just wondering if BIg Rig is Ok. I thought with all this stuff of the Dragons signing Atkinson that he would be in the thick of it?

Hope to hear from you Big Rig.
I am all good thanks Dragon David , I’m actually currently in the United Kingdom so spent the last few days traveling

But very excited about the signing of Atkinson
I had heard they were still chasing him for 2026 but totally didn’t know that it was all a done deal

I also heard that the club will monitor the Rabbitohs to see who they sign before making a move for a forward

If the bunnies sign Bateman then Lodge could be a Dragon

Hooray, so nice to hear from you Big Rig. I hope that you are enjoying yourself over there in Super League country. The temperature over there is a lot different to here.

Yes, good news about Atkinson and I agree regarding the Souths position re Bateman and that if he is signed by them, the is every likelihood that Lodge could be signed by us. Maybe you could do a little scouting over there to see if there are any good props that we should chase.

Are you coming back for Christmas or will you be spending it over in the UK? Whatever is planned have a good one.

Cheers DD

You would have about as much clue about who else wanted the guys that "fell in our lap" as you do about good coaches.......zilch. Just because some shit stirring journos writes clickbait bullshit, doesn't mean it is true. Gutho, Cookie, Val, Lawson, Ilias and Atkinson ALL had other offers. Flanno was able to convince them in one way or another.
Your logic is flawed....... When we miss them , you blame Flanno......When we get them, you credit everyone but Flanno.....you credit Bennett, Cookie, Deano, Santa Clause, the Easter bunny.......effing hilarious.
You can't have it both ways....either Flanno is to credit or blame for both gains and misses. Choose your poison.
Every Flanno success makes you squirm more and more. You must resemble a worm on a hook at the moment. You are death riding our club for some petty childish hatred. Very disrespectful of our true Red V fan base. Instead of just sitting back and enjoying the build to success
