That’s alot of teams tho
True, it's the core of the game. Currently, we have the support players for a scoot-and- get-a-roll-on constant-pressure game but we may not have the big, fit guys to do a job past the advantage line to set them up.

Hoping Pasifiki-Tonga and the Couchman boys can provide some of that, then our perhaps mediocre halves will have a little space to play.

Storm beat Knights to signature of star half, but there’s a catch

The Newcastle Knights made a monster $2.5 million bid to lure Jonah Pezet away from the Storm but the former Wyong Roo has opted to stick with Melbourne – though he has inserted a surprise clause into his new deal.

No source at all, though Chris O’Keefe has just quit channel 9 and journalism. He is a diehard dragons fan and during 2022 he had a big article regarding what was going wrong at the dragons. Do you think this could be a sign that he is our next CEO?
Could be involved in the political arena seeing that he was the journo reporting on Channel 9 all things politics before joining 2GB Drive. He was also involved in -
"A meeting between representatives of Forrest and St George Illawarra was first brokered by 2GB radio host and Dragons tragic Chris O’Keefe a couple of months ago.
The Dragons have since developed a strong bond with Forrest’s representatives and are close to announcing one of the game’s most significant sponsorship deals in the code’s history." This is history as we know and we do have Squadron Energy as our main sponsor, thanks in a way to Chris O'Keefe.

I reckon he would be a great CEO for us and you just never know.

According to Ch 9,

O'Keefe says he will now open up a political and media advocacy business, "to help clients navigate their projects or issues through the maelstrom of government and public opinion".

I dunno. I like O Keefe but I think we need a football guy to be CEO who knows what it takes to rise. Webb was a numbers guy and did well in that respect , but the team drowned
I think nowadays club CEO is all about the power broker who's main job is to look after commercial operations.

But you do need the backing of an experienced head of football (That requires Football experience)

Other than Don Furner no other CEO's stand out footballers

some successful CEO's that were not professional footballers (I think)
  • Cameron George (Warriors) well respected – don’t think any NRL player experience
  • Shane Richardson (Wests Tigers) been involved in League many years but don’t think he played NRL
  • Dave Donaghy Brisbane - came from journalism
  • Blake Solly (South Sydney): plenty of sport management but don’t think he played NRL
  • Justin Rodski (Melbourne) A young executive
So long as they have the right experience as CEO of sporting organisation, I don't think ex-footballer important

Ahhh there you go. I think we should definitely be using him in some role. I’m sure he’s made some good connections in his media time. See what happens

Correct. But if we want our football department to grow and flourish across all parts we need to get the GM of football position right. We need to poach one of the big names who have NRL experience. Haran is holding us back

Speaking of an appropriate CEO for the Big Red V , then we truly require people that possess the business acumen of the late Terry or Kerry Packer . Those gentlemen could see an opportunity to make money even when they were sleeping .

Alas , both are gone now and the pickings which are left are rather slim , plus simply could never fill their shoes .

However we are most fortunate to have Andrew Forrest as a investor in our team , shame that we do not currently have a person with his business acumen on our board , as he is undoubtedly a driven and committed individual as those of the above mentioned empire builders .

The Dragons would certainly be a ascending to the giddy heights of success for many years to come , should our new CEO have those same attributes as those of the above mentioned empire builders .
