The
Champion he was too.

Played with one of my backline heroes…the prince of centres.

Any kids watching, there used to be a Saints legend that your neighbours ( I think you call them “the scum”) tried to claim as their own.

He could do things other centres couldn’t and have never done… even to this day.

And mark my words young ‘uns, he was tougher than any living forward playing footy in 2024.
first centre picked in my team

This is an example of why our new CEO appointment is a very critical decision, the Puppies has got their senior management in place which is why they can get these deals done. Ryan Webb has done well financially, which he has told us in every presentation he has made but now we have to move to a deal maker & help Flanno who IMO is doing a great job to get our joint back to a competitive outfit.
+ an owner or major shareholder / sponsor really invested in the success of the club (or brand as the w... word used these days)

So what's the attraction of the dogs? An absolute deadbeat area of Sydney whose only attraction is the ease of leaving if you mistakingly find yourself there. No club history or tradition.
Bought not bred too.
A team that has recruited very well over the last 18 months with a smart back office. Arthur Laundy coming on board has had a significant $$ impact and
bag Gus Gould all you like, but he knows how to turn clubs around.

We will still beat them in the forwards. We have LPT, the Couchies, Halangahu, Sua, Leluia, JDB, and two first class #9s. And we may yet pick up someone decent for prop before June. Flanno has some plan in mind.
Very important to get LPT and Halangahu even possibly latu locked in for 2-3 more years before others swoop in. Forward stocks are very high at the moment, signing the Couchmen is a great first step but can’t lose the others with JDB, eisenhuth, lawrie, bmm, Sele nearing the end of their time with us.

If he gets paid sure…but he didn’t do much for SGI during the cursed DNA review!

Blamed everyone but his mate Mary, who was really struggling.

And let’s just say… once Penrith got rid of him, they haven’t missed a grand final.

Then he went on the Penrith smash and grab ( which we faithfully followed).

Hes good at some things, not others.

My bulldog spies ( mates of Baa baa) point to Jason Taylor’s efforts last year to account for their success.

So I’m a Gould skeptic.

But I appreciate your point. It can be argued, for sure.

I hate the dirty effing dogs even more now.
They always find the cash, truly incredible.

Burton has allegedly been in trouble over there for under-delivering.

I tend to agree with that analysis. Hes an innate talent they haven’t brought on properly. There’s usually a few in every roster, but he was one of the best panther juniors. He was outstanding. Capable of being truly marquee and he’s not even in his zone.

Perhaps the bulldog mercenary mentality hasn’t suited him.

I agree.

He has the talent and ability to be the best player in the game imo.

As you say, just hasn't happened for him there, perhaps it's the joint?

What has Laundy offered more importantly and Gus has sold the dream which the media keep driving for them putting them on the pedestal ATM for some reason
they are seemingly ready to Challenge for a title with no real lock in 1 or 7 and the most hated 9.
Yes they improved and showed good defence last season but..
What is not in doubt is media fanfare leads to things tipping your way through the course of a season
There are definitely some things we can learn from Gus like media spin and organising third party agreements.

Yes and Yes.

I thought that he was playing so well that at his rate of improvement -he would one day be considered for immortal status.

Then he goes to the bulldogs and his game stutters and he’s never got it back to where it was going.

The way I see the game, in rare cases, some players should stay where they are ( even forget about more money) if they are getting a massive net benefit from their coach and club environment. He was in that category.

Under that theory, Zac should have stayed to continue golden era footy and also keep improving.

When flanno was self-praising his decision to put him on the wing, he also attributed the success to Zacs own efforts.

That was a balanced and appropriate gesture. Despite the impasse, he gave a bit.

Here’s the article for the panel if anyone missed it.

Zac and his manager think they’ve done the right thing….they will deny that it was a mistake. They will be proven wrong!

And they have gone for less money, no? I can't work it out. But I went off Lomax when I saw him and Lawrie on tv making fun of Hook. Anyway, ancient history now.

I had to laugh when I read the last part of that article when they interviewed Gutho about Lomax coming to the Eels:

He’s been calling me weekly about footy and talking, so I don’t think there was any hesitation there. He’s looking forward to a change … he’s a great player and we’re looking forward to having him.
Lol, that aged about as well as Bunt telling us (during negotiations with the roosters) that he wanted to stay in Sydney for “family reasons”

Lasted a week at best.

The dog still doesn’t know where they’ve gone, but he’s got the neighbours looking after him so he’s not complaining.

Lol, that’s the story of my life. An abundance of missed opportunities and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Like Mary and @Gareth67 !

Kindred spirits.
I do hope Silverdale that you meant that is a nice way - now it’s one thing to badmouth me , BUT I will not allow anyone to slander Mary ! 😶

Well they certainly have no excuses anymore - quality players , coach (?) and Gus ‘ the human football ‘ Gould , an unbeatable combination ! 😳
