The NRL needs to step in and really tighten their rules when it comes to media reporting as the journos seem to not care about the impact their stories have to the player as long as they are getting clicks. Pretty sad. Without the players they have no job so they should protect them especially in times like this. Managers leaking stories to get interest from clubs should then have their license revoked. The NRL should not see this as acceptable.
I understand the sentiment, but gee that is a slippery slope when you start banning media. Ultimately, the responsibility is on us, the consumer. And unfortunately, us as the consumer have not evolved and we click on, read and share every clickbait article.
Shame about Molo - whatever his circumstances may be , he had absolutely no right to walk out on his contract with the Dragons .
This is the crux of the issue, no one knows if he does have a right to walk out or not. There's a lot of simplified views on the issue on this forum and generally throughout social media - One would assume there is a intersection between the Club and NRL's legislated obligations for a safe workplace and what is considered a safe workplace in the terms of professional sport. Molo is allegedly claiming a workplace injury. It was only a matter of time until something like this was tested and of course, the only Club it was going to occur at was the Dragons...

I’d go one further and say it’s impossible to ban media from reporting. I think what you can do though as an organisation is make statements to the media explaining there is a player welfare issue which requires medical support and request the media show some compassion and restraint. Basically show some leadership here.

Hopefully the younger players show good form in the trials which would make releasing Molo a bit more attractive. If we release him, I don't want him playing against us this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we told the manager we'd be open to releasing him if he found us a suitable replacement.

I know Bennett has mentioned Souths were trying to get a few players off their books due to a tight salary cap but failed to do so. I wonder if there's a forward we could nab? Maybe a davey moale (off contract 25) or sean keppie (off contract 26)?

Noticed Heralds Dan Walsh got his commission as the Rorters spokesman today citing their loss of 5.8 million of talent. Funny how their contracts are always low when they sign them but much higher when they leave !
Oh my heart bleeds for the poor sods. Let's see how Wobbo goes as a coach without the best roster in the comp for once.

Wobbo is a myth. Should be in 8 out of 10 Grand Finals. Flanno has mentioned a few times how impressive their squads are as you see them come of the team bus in 2024

1. Tedesco - marquee
2. Dom Young - top tryscorer
3. Joseph Manu - Superstar
4. Joseph Suualili - marquee
5. Daniel Tupou - elite winger
6. Luke Keary - Clive Churchill medal winner
7. Sam Walker - Elite halfback
8. JWH - Top 2 props
9. Brandon Smith - marquee signing
10. Lindsay Collins - Elite top 4 prop
11. Spencer Leniu - marquee - multiple premierships
12. Angus Chrichton - 2024 SOO best player - multiple premiership winner
13. Victor Radley. Elite Lock
14. Connor Watson - elite
15. Terrell May - elite next gen prop
16. Sia Wong - elite next gen backrower
17. Nafua Whyte - elite next gen prop
............ Billy Smith, Nat Butcher, Egan Butcher, Mark Nagatwaise...

How they ever lose is a mystery...

very underwhelming performances last few years. Flat track bullies bashing the weaker teams but always get trounced by melbourne and penrith easily.

Last time I checked Super Coach Bellamy has won 3 comps 2012, 2017 & 2020 (2 taken off for cheating 2007 & 2009) and Robbo won 3 as well 2013, 2018-2019. Robbo has won comps back to back. 100% strike rate in GF for Robbo.
All these years and Bellamy can't win back to back. Shows how hard it is with all this talk of him being the best ever and he has never done a back to back. Last I saw it was Cleary, Robbo and Bennett in the last 30+ years.

Bellamy has had just as good a side as Robbo with players getting fines instead of suspensions like Big Nelson, Kaufusi etc for being thugs whilst Robbos boys like Radley and JWH getting suspended for fairy taps. If Robbo had the same treatment as Bellamy, I am sure he would have won more comps.

Robbo should have made more Grand Finals. Winning the GF is a different kettle of fish, but Robbo has been poor.

lol poor. He's missed the finals once in 12 seasons at the Roosters, and that time includes two premierships. Last year they reached a prelim despite losing their halfback and hooker to injury before the finals. I wouldn't call that poor

Interesting that the herald are listing the 50 best players . we will be lucky to get Gutherson, Sua & Holmes. The Rorters will get at least 10 players. Salary cap Magicii
But remember dp all easts players are happy to be paid unders so they can be part of such a well run organisation, 🤣🤣 and yet every commentator tells you players have to be mercenaries as they are only in league for such a short time.
One day the truth will come out

I hate when I hear 'we are only in the game for a few years' or 'career is short so have to make the most money to set my family up', yet they are willing to give up hundreds of thousands dollars over the length of their careers for a better culture. Do they not also realise that there is life after say 35 and you can still go out and work like the rest of us plebs.

Lol. Have a look at who replaced them. Sam Walker replaced by Sanding Smith and Brandon Smith replaced by Connor Watson. His squads are always awesome. They are usually favourites to win the comp. So not making finals would be an absolute under performance. If he didn't make the finals he would be chased out of the place.

Exactly trifill13, players today don't realise there are warehouse jobs forkie truckdriver and courier jobs that footballers used to always take after retirement.. in the 80s and 90s.
