Has anyone else been hearing the rumours Adam Elliot and the Dragons are interested for 2025/26 ?

cant find anything online but i have heard it through a few footy head mates

......

We are after a middle still for 2025......... but I would have thought a prop more so than a lock.

Yet we have 5 forwards that will be unlikely important to our top30 in 2026 and maybe even 2025
RFM $350k pa
Fifita $300k pa
Lawrie $500k pa
TomE $300k pa
MMolo $250k pa

Thats $1.6mill pa to play with and Elliot at $400k pa plus a dominant Prop i suspect would get a lot more NRL game time in 2025/26 then Fifia, RFM, Lawrie,, TomE, Mmolo

Elliot has averaged 150m run metres this season vs Jack De Bellin 120m run metres

Elliot in the game against the Dolphins did 15 hitups for 174m in 52mins...........that is elite for a middle.

Elliot is not contracted for 2026 and rumoured on $500k pa for 2025
Besides Latu we have secured pretty much all our emerging forwards for 2026/27
Mmolo RFM will probably move on soon and RCouchman out for 12months ACL reco
JDB is playing half his minutes as a prop anyway

Millie Boyle Elliots new wife (now pregnant) and not playing footy for 2025
Both from the far south coast and Millie plays for the Roosters
His 4 yr old son is from a previous GF in Sydney - not sure how sharing works but being closer to Sydney makes sense

30yrs of age > turning 31 yrs old late this year > experienced and with JDB, Klem, Sua etc brings more GRIT
middle and powerful defender and dangerous runner around the try line
but previously a nutball > now married and a baby on the way and I suspect a gritty player that would appeal to Flano now that Elliot has matured some what

ANY THOUGHTS ?

Im guessing only a small handful of options right now to bolster 2025...........and 2026 finding middles is still a serious challenge

I think Elliot and JDB defending in the middle would bring some heat plus they tend to get some good explosive metres when on the 3rd or 4th hitup. JDB maybe only has one more year in him in 2026

$350k to 400k pa for a two year contract would make some sense.

Only if Millie comes in the package and joins our W team

Why is everyone trying to retire JDB. He has heaps left and is going gangbusters
Elliot is not a bad option but I don't think he is needed.

JDB has plenty left to offer.

My preference would be to extend Latu and have him learn from JDB and transition to him over the next two seasons.

I would prefer to chase a quality prop...

JDBs line speed has dropped off a cliff and the idea that he leads our defensive line is failing.
Some very ordinary line defence cost us big time this year already ...

away from the defensive 20 though he is still very good for us ... Re-signing him will be a function of how Stewart develops and if we keep Latu.

Not time to put him out to pasture just yet but age does catch up with all players.

I'm pretty sure that against Souths, he played longer minutes because Lawrie didn't play much at all and those defensive lapses (on a 35 degree) day were due to that. Against the dogs, when him and Ryan Couch went off, The Doggies scored a few tries. JDB has enough gas in the tank for 2025/2026 at the very least. His efforts against the Storm were amazing.

If we did get an actual 13 though, we can put Jack back to prop again, which really really helps that prop rotation..

As for Newcastle finding a replacement, I mean I dont see how we can help there, unless they want like a Lawrie, RFM, Sele, TomE.. dont think were gonna give them one of our teenagers, and it wouldnt even help them anyway for 2025 which is their concern.. im sure they have other ideas for 2026.

Mate I think you have got them all

For Ethan Bullemor provides great utility at 110kg 190cm and has serious impact off the bench backrow or front row

versus

Off contract end of 2025 all teams and a few to consider in the mix given we are always juggling pathway development vs who in a finals game can really SOO style dig in and make it count vs a 20yr old or 18yr old like say Latu?

Locks 12 players off contract

Jack de Belin, Adam Elliott, Kobe Hetherington, Aitasi James, Finau Latu, Justin Matamua, Kurtis Morrin, Joe Ofahengaue, Riley Price, Tanner Stowers-Smith, Mason Teague, Jazz Tevaga

Props 27 players off contract

Bunty Afoa, Tom Ale, Mat Croker, Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui, Viliami Fifita, Wiremu Greig, Siliva Havili, Jack Hetherington, Jaiyden Hunt, Corey Jensen, Josh Kerr, David Klemmer, Ben Liyou, Jordan Martin, Jordan McLean, Shaquai Mitchell, Davvy Moale, Mark Nicholls, Josiah Pahulu, Josh Papalii, Toafofoa Sipley, Daniel Suluka-Fifita, Siosiua Taukeiaho, Martin Taupau, Sam Tuivaiti, Lazarus Vaalepu, Michael Waqa

Second-row 24 players off contract

Jacob Alick-Wiencke, Fletcher Baker, Kenneath Bromwich, Ethan Bullemor, Billy Burns, Bryce Cartwright, Tom Eisenhuth, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Thomas Fletcher, Ryan Foran, Mavrik Geyer, Jack Gosiewski, Harrison Hassett, Jacob Host, Felise Kaufusi, Ativalu Lisati, Ben Lovett, Toni Mataele, Dean Matterson, Kai Pearce-Paul, Preston Riki, Jaeman Salmon, Jamal Shibasaki, Brandon Tumeth

we have a had a few supporters mention that Jack Hetherington would be a good fit for our top30

I actually forgot he is the son of Brett Hetherington

supposedly despite wanting to fight everyone in the world he tests off the charts pre season gus said

I didn t realise Jack actually grew up in Newcastle and his family is there

I mean 190cm 107kg firebrand with shit stats and probably breaks the "no dick heads policy..............i dont know ??

The guy plays 20mins a game if your lucky

JDB did give away one incredibly stupid penalty on the weekend though. Could've been costly. This is also why I also don't get the vitriol directed at the referee... we did some stupid things and deserved to cop them! In fact, probably the most controversial refereeing moment of the game was the Eli Katoa try being overturned. That was a huge call and could've easily gone against us. If you were directing homophobic rants at the officials then, I'm afraid to say, you just might be a dickhead
I agree however the Storm were not penalised for similar instances.
It not the penalties we give away as most were warented it's the ones we don't get that anoy me.

Eli Kotoa try clear no try.

He didn't gather the ball cleanly before bringing it into contact with our player.

Hetherington and Klemmer for the first 20 wouldn't be bad, surely a better option than Guler or Lawrie partnering Klemmer. They'd compliment each other and wouldn't take a back step against any pack. Better than Elliot as well.
