How anyone can say we have improved is absolutely diabolical. This time last year we had 5 wins compared to this year's 3. It's one thing to be optimistic and hope things will turn but not seeing the obvious is insanity

We are staying in games for far longer which we couldn't do last year the wins are close we could easily be sitting in the top four if a few things went our way.
Ok if that's your logic we could easily be dead last if it wasn't for a close win against Manly and the Storm. We beat the Titans by a decent margin whoopty do

The thing is he is signed until the end of 2027 so he doesn't have to go anywhere. Flanno signed Atkinson and resigned Kyle the same week. They are all his decisions at the end of the day but if some fans are happy with the direction Flanno is taking us well last year was fair enough but he talked a big game this year and we are worse in my opinion. A loss is a loss 1 point 10 points it doesn't matter. He has said himself we have a better team this year so there is absolutely no excuses for the shit we are displaying.
How many times are you going to repeat yourself. Everyone here knows you are going to post the same almost identical post. We want to here all opinions and there are so many topics when following this great club. It isn't hard to comment on something else as opposed to "Flanno is shit". We know where you stand. Repeating it over and over doesn't strengthen your argument, in fact it weakens it.

Both Latu and Atkinson are “lame ducks” as it were. Both looking forward to more lucrative deals elsewhere while trying to maintain motivation for their current club. The fans won’t cheer them & while they’ll swear loyalty to the last game it’s harder in practice than in theory. So if Wilson can come around the triple swap could be on.

If Val hadnt lost his kicking mojo we are Top4, im hurting as much as anyone but in a competition as tight and elite as this, to be scoring more tries than ur opponents means u r doing something right... to still lose those games off the back of kicking is so cruel.

Agree but sooooooooo frustrating , the way they have been beaten the last 2 games , a bombed try by SuA , then score more tries than the opposition and still get done ............ Dragons Footy I guess .........

We need to stady the ship and turn things around. Then clean house:

Get rid of 2025:
Sloan
Elias
K Flannagan

Move:
Gutherson to center
Suli to the bench (edge forward)
Leilua to bench prop
LKT to 14

Recruit
Atkinson
DCE
2 x Big prop forwards

2026 Team
1. Ramsey
2. CT
3. Gutherson
4. Holmes
5. Lawson
6. Atkinson
7. DCE
8. New Prop
9. Liddle
10. New prop
11. Egan
12. Su'A
13. De Belin

14. LKT
15. Stewart
16. Leilua
17. Suli

18. Tonga

We can start now by testing 16Leilua and Suli as bench forwards.
Haven't seen much of Atkinson to judge but if that's the case and we signed him for 7 what happens to the 6? LKT has played better and had more try assist then Kyle in the games he has played this year which for a young bloke is all we can ask he will only get better with time. The only thing I can think of is if Flanno gets rid of Liddle and uses Kyle in a similar role which would be one of the worst coaching decisions and blatant nepotism I've ever seen. Kyle can't organise us in the halves imagine if he was our hooker.. we would be absolutely cooked. Never felt more negative about where we are headed then I do right now I thought Flanno would help us not ruin us.
We have huge problems in the quality of players in our prop rotation, our halves, and our back 3. In addition, Suli and Leilua are not living up to expectations in their current positions.

The problems cannot really be addressed until 2026;
1. Ramsey
2. CT
3. Gutherson
4. Holmes
5. Lawson
6. Atkinson
7. DCE
8. New prop
9. Liddle
10. T Couchman
11. Egan
12. Su'A
13. R Couchman

14. LKT
15. Stewart
16. Tonga
17. Suli - edge forward

Defense is still a big problem. Opposition forwards seem to be able to roll down the field easily.
Hey possm, nice to see your print in black instead of the light blue. Have they been able to correct your eye problem or are you having someone else type your posts?

Their line speed is only good for about 20 min then you know they are gone when they are standing still waiting for the opposition to meet them .........
Then is their strength and endurance not included in their fitness regime? I thought we signed some great fitness staff who would get the players to play with a lot of energy for the whole 80 minutes? Line speed is one of the biggest factors in defence to stop the opposing team from gaining too much ground before kicks and of course stop scoring tries. Same as in attack.

The speed and conditioning coach for the St George Illawarra Dragons is Kelly Penfold. She also works as a Speed and Conditioning Coach for the Catalans Dragons. Is she doing a good enough job for the StGI Dragons?

Other strength and conditioners are:-
  • Ciriaco Mescia: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Nathan Spencer: Strength and Power Coach.
  • Kelly Penfold: Speed and Conditioning Coach.
  • Sam Hutton: Head Strength and Conditioning Coach (Jersey Flegg).
  • Kieran Fraser: Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach.
  • Riley Kerr: Jersey Flegg Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Annie-Rose Gough: Strength And Conditioning Coach.
So are these people just not been doing a good enough job for the club if we can only get 20 minutes of good line speed from the players before they "peter out"?

Fitness is compounding. We have had 1 "good pre season" in years. It'll take a couple before they can perform like other clubs.

They started from a lower base than most clubs unfortunately.

It's also cattle. Slow and old can't keep up.

That's the real problem.

The young blokes have no problem and their line speed is only a symptom of other older and slower players taking longer so they need to move up slower to not break the line.

Poor bench use also.

Lots of factors

Mate we are not a top 4 side
As things stand we will be lucky to scrape into the 8 ..
Results can sometimes give us a false impression to how we are actually sitting on the Table
Lacking that hard nosed prop and an organising half back
Granted some green shoots starting to sprout with LKT , LPT and our young forwards BUT that is more 26,and 27
A lot of deadwood to get rid of in the next two seasons

Yeah I hate this argument that we could easily be near the top of the table if a couple close games went our way. Look at how we're playing. Our football is disgraceful. We are losing games not by bad luck, poor goal kicking or any other excuse. If we were playing good football, we win those games, simple.

Instead, it's been diabolical and we deserve to sit where we sit on the table. Scoring more tries and losing, yes, is frustrating. But can we honestly say we deserved to win those games? Souths and Warriors were there for the taking in those games. We lost because we were poor and couldn't get it done. Val's poor form with the boot is annoying, but winning those games would gloss over how badly we're actually playing.

We are getting baked by the refs in the first halves of most games. Against the Roosters, 25% possession for us. Same against the Warriors. The 6 agains are usually 7 to 1 and we aren't doing anything different to the opposition. The penalties are also more for the opposition. Our discipline is ok as we have one of the fewest high shot penalties stats. These are the only penalties we seem to get. The ones that the ref has to give. Any subjective penalty, ain't coming our way. Our Captains challenges rarely succeed and before donning the Red V, Gutho had an extremely high success rate with the Captains challenges. The only thing that has changed is Gutho is wearing a different jersey. We are so gassed from the high opposition possession rate that when we do get the ball, we make fatigue errors which compounds the initial lack of possession from refs calls. Against the Warriors we had NO ball in the first half, from a 7 - 1 six again stat, they also dropped the ball 3 times and Liam Kennedy called them all knock backs (those are never knock backs). The penalties were also against us and twice we were penalised for strip's, that weren't strip's and the bunker said they were. We had to use our Captains Chalenge on this as well. Of course when we did get the ball, the fatigue errors weren't far away. I'm amazed our guys have hung in there so well under these conditions and we are only losing by the smallest of margins. The boys are fit enough (probably one of the fittest teams) but cannot keep battling these shit calls

yes but you can see we are not nearly as far as off as basically every fan on here is saying.. we scored more tries than both the Warriors (a genuine top 4 side) and Souths... meaning between our attack and our ability to defend.. we are out-performing those teams even with the 'deadwood', I agree that our roster is awful. but surely some respect for what we are doing with this squad is deserved also.

Unfortunately if we cant turn some of that good footy into wins however, confidence starts to drop, the squad loses their mojo and losing can become entrenched..... confidence is everything in this game.
