Are you guys related to the Young family in anyway? I believe our progress has definitely improved under Flanno. Prior to Flanno, Griffin and McGregor DID NOT develop and promote our juniors which Flanno IS. Griffin and McGregor could not attract any top line players to the club and Flanno has , all but at the tail end of their careers but he has. Look at the youngsters coming through in Egan, Stewart, Pasifiki Tonga, the Couchman brothers Halangahu and King-Togia and there are plenty more in the reggies. Not since Nathan Browns development of the Morris brothers, Matt Cooper, Ben Creagh, Amos Roberts, Clint Greenshields and Ben Hornby have we as St George Illawarra seen this many juniors developed presently since Nathan Browns tenure. We have to be a little patient with these youngsters to reap the rewards. All the negative sh#t does become monotonous.
King Gutho linked to Dragons
A BIG F##K OFF to Gutho he’s not worth even close to 1 million dollars and is a top shelf tosser to boot. Let Parra try to get rid of him no one will even pay half that amount.

Abit harsh on Gutho in that one, you can thank Flanno for signing him on over 800k a year. No one will pay half that amount? Really.. That's a very negative post. 🤔🤣
Is he one of the "Top line players" Flanno has recruited? You sure didn't want him 😭

Actually both McGregor and Griffin did bring through/debut some young players, not all of them worked out and that's probably why you think they didn't bring any through.
Who's to say the same won't happen with these kids that Flanagan is bringing through? Most of them have been brought in out of necessity and time will tell whether they're worth persisting with and whether they even end up having a future at the club.

Under McGregor I believe some of the most notable signings were Widdop and Hunt, both were top line players.
Under Griffin some of the most notable signings were Su'a, Molo, Suli and Liddle.
So yes while your memory is clouded, we have signed decent players under previous coaches as well.

This is the most telling as it shows that absolutely nothing has changed under Flanagan. We sign players if similar calibre to the last couple of coaches, we bring through some rookies and hope for the best and we get the same piss poor results that were produced under the last coaches.

All we are doing is the same rinse and repeat cycle and it's getting us nowhere, Flanagan and his son are not the answer and the sooner they're moved on, the better.

No to illas plays like kyle gives us nothing each week . LKT is only 19 he is the future he needs to stay and get more experience for this season waiting on next season for Aitkin .

I agree you need a strong pack of forwards to be competitive especially front row. Our problem is that we have not got a strong front row rotation. As much as DeBelin is playing well he is not a Meter eater. We need two front rowers that can chew up forward meters. Our young brigade of forwards would be so much better with strong experience front rowers to follow.
Half back is also our big issue. Flanagan is not doing the job at half, his problem is he is just not a NRL standard player 7 or 14.
Katoa showed how good a player he is and may go down as a great player.
Speed is also a major issue, we have got some good players in our

Just looking at who's off contract for next year.
Should chase Davvy Moale from South's now. Not in their 17 (18th man) & not under contract next year. Daniel Suluka-Fifita also but for 2026. Not under contract & Leo Thompson is incoming for the Dogs.
Fletcher Baker might be an option, a bit risky as he's been quiet at the Broncos but was good at the Roosters?
We should also have a crack at Selwyn Cobbo.
Sam Stonestreet or Edward Kosi would also add some much needed size to our winger stocks.
Jojo Fifita off contract too.
We are lacking muscle up front & on kick returns we don't seem to be able to worry many opposition defences.
Hopefully one of the young fellas can step up in the halves with Atkinson cause there's not much else available.

I agre

I agree about the forwards. Our best forwards are our kids who should still be getting used to the NRL by coming off the bench, not being given big minutes. All the others are at best, bench forwards. We need a massive clean out of the plodders. There is a case for keeping JDB but we need to replace Klemmer, Lawrie, RFM, Luciano, Guler, Sele and BMM.
100 percent. Except I think Luc has ability it’s just getting him going is key.

I've never said you don't have the right to question the coach and his sons ability, but making the point every post and at times .multiple posts on a row becomes boring and you become the "the little boy who cried wolf"
Yes they obviously have a very strong opinion on this. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But it’s annoying for me personally in that we need to be positive and I for one thought Flanno senior as our coach was/is a positive move. He’s resilient. I’ll see how he handles the team after this hiding. You need support in other roles like recruitment etc in coaching. Which he doesn’t have it is looking like.
I also think Kyle is putting in a decent effort. Just his kicking game is sh#t. He’s a 6 not a 7. Maybe even not that. A 14.

Yeah, thats the thing with Luc. In patches he looks like he has ability, but in reality he looks overweight, unfit and can't play long minutes. At best, he is a bench forward but I would not lose any sleep whatsoever if he left.
Shame that as he used to be great for us.
don’t we have like personal trainers and nutritionists?
looking at cake last night he looked like he’s got a belly dad bod

Nice first input MudgeeDragon72. Welcome to the Dragons Forum.

Before any good available players get snapped up by the Bears and PNG and for that matter the other teams currently in the competition, the Dragons should definitely be going for the best for the positions we need filling. The names you have mentioned have a lot of merit.

Cheers

Some guys, and gals, not only in sport but generally have a tendency to easily put on a bit of weight no matter how hard they may try to keep it off. I for one don't have any problem with this which is fortunate but still I needed to have a triple by-pass heart surgery in 2013 because of years of smoking and I would say eating the wrong foods. I gave up smoking in 2009 but the damage had been done and I have COPD but I haven't really given up on the "bad food", however, it's more balanced nowadays. My weight was 74kg in 2013 before the heart surgery and now I weigh 62kg. More like a heavyweight jockey now. Whether that is good or bad is all relative to lifestyle and exercise etc.

Luc and Cake luckily exercise and play footy and without doing this they would certainly be far worse weight wise than now. They are the type of guys that just cannot slim down which, if they could, would make them much better as footy players in my opinion. Maybe their diets can be improved but they might need to eat more to help with their strength and energy but cannot burn the fat off.

I have followed both mens and womens golf on the PGA and LPGA tours for years. There is a former Chinese woman golfer by the name of Shanshan Feng. She did win several tournaments and during her time on the tour just focussed on practising and playing in the comps. She was very overweight, however, since retiring from playing competitively, she has lost heaps of weight and is a mother and looks absolutely great now. So I guess its a matter of choices and commitment.

Sorry for this useless post. I just felt like writing a bit tonight. Hahaha!
