Nick T could make a good 17 as he can play edge forward and center.
Yes but Dylan Egan can play backrow or centre if an injury happens mid-game. I'd rather carry Ryan Couchman, Liddle, Loko and Leilua if we keep him or Halangahu on the bench in 2026. Nick can play in reserve grade and be used in NRL when needed

Showed a lot of energy in the game he played, and a lot more than some of the higher paid regular first graders. Worth sticking with imo
100%. If they let this kid go they have rocks in their heads. Local junior, won’t break the bank, move into the top 30 for 2026, plays 2nd row and also centre at a pinch. But the way things are going nothing surprises me anymore. Shambles if they don’t re sign him

Leilua needs to move into the front row or piss off. His days on the edge are seriously numbered. Way out of shape to be playing back row these days unless he drops some decent weight

Listen again - Kenty didn't say it. It was Woz who is very close to JDB.
So unless Woz is lieing (why would he) - JDB was on 300K this year.
Best value player in NRL history.
would totally agree
has been arguably our best forward for the past few seasons
why he hasnt been retained on a similar deal to parras is puzzling
more to it ??

Same @Gareth67 . In a nutshell we need more than a serviceable half....

Kyle was originally bought in as a 14.... Then the loss of Armone etc...

Atkinson is an upgrade but we need a Marquee Half.....we are so far off the pace its not funny.

Look at the Bullgrubs and penrith tonight.... Next level standard...we couldn't play more than 20 minutes at that intensity.

As much as I hate to say it you have to applaud Gould... Look at Kurt Mann under their system..

Origin player and with us and Newcastle just Filler....

Great game of Footy if you missed it....

Reminded me of what we used to play like under Wayne....
I did missed the match however I always thought that the Dragons should had kept Mann , a great utility player , unfortunately was let go to the Knights .

And yes Phil Gould has the knack of seeing a players true worth and under the tutelage of Ciraldo has improved dramatically .

Yet another decent player that we allowed to go .

This is an interesting read involving the Raiders, Gareth.

Ricky and the club have managed to have a squad of players that look finals and maybe grand final bound and their future looks quite good beyond this year as well.

I think when I created the thread 'Inside Shane's Brain' I suggested that SF figured if the top players were going to shun us he'd have to create his own. I still stand by that. His cultivating juniors has evidenced that. Also why he was so passed at losing Latu. It was part of my post on Jan 17.....before a ball was kicked in NRL. Worth a re- read.

I've been saying this for while now. Same goes for Suli, he rarely sets up his winger and is not very busy most games. Suli needs to move to the edge of move on.

I reckon he will also get the tap, as$700k is way overs…he’s better suited to the Uk game, nowhere near mobile enough anymore. Another living on potential and hasn’t delivered much for us at all.

Indeed it was DD , there are certainly lessons there for our club - coach and recruitment. The younger generation seem to be more gifted than they were decades ago ( of course with the exception of the Rapers , Smiths , Langlands ) and as such their potential is enormous if only that potential is harnessed.

However it takes a coach with the foresight to understand this . If he can and also ensure that they remain with the club during their formative years then they will most certainly be an asset to the team .

I did mention recruitment as well , I was referring to the introduction of English players into the Raiders squad as they are generally great defenders and if one is fortunate enough to sign a half than their attacking skills are excellent , this half- back and also defensive skills would keep any team in good stead for the future.

Kudos to Stuart !

Garner has been used as a Mr fix it at Penrith. He can play left and right 2nd row and centre. He's a good player and in the Penrith system it works and I feel like he'd improve our squad, but I reckon it wouldn't.work with us. Can you imagine our current 2nd rowers playing at centre? They'd get exposed quicker than a politician with a pornstar.

The NRL dispensation for long serving players is $300k. Is the real reason that Blake Lawrie won't leave and no other clubs want him - taking up that $300k.

Also, Josh Papalii has not been offered a new contract by Canberra at age 33. There isn't anywhere near the same media uproar for a similar long serving, but better performing front rower... why? And why is Paps unwilling to play against his club, yet the guy that we supported for years through his own mess, not showing the same attitude?

Papalii has been doing some tough work for a number of years now. I'm not surprised that he has not been offered an extension.
