It's a damn shame Saints have no chance of landing Pezet. He would be perfect for the Saints. Pezet and Atkinson halves pairing makes Saints a top 8 possibly top 4 side. My only hope is Saints can get Metclaf from the Warriors and the land Pezet as Anasta may be happy to put work with the Warriors. The Warriors did a similar thing with Aladin and the Fish. The let go of their gun prop and quickly had a gun replacement.

Anasta does have every right to be dirty as Illias has been treated poorly. SFlanno told Illias to work on some things in KOE, they went 11 or 12 undefeated which Illias was key, and yet he still did not get picked ahead of Kyle or LKT who were not playing any better than before Illias played FG. It wreaks of nepotism which has now come back to bite Saints.

First it was Hook choosing all his Qld buddies no matter how bad they played, and now Flanno doing the same with his son. Because of this it has really damaged the Saints reputation as a club to join. Saints have got to simply find a coach who picks players on merit and form and they may be able to recruit better. As soon as Shane wanted his son to join him the Dragons should have seen it as a red flag. And now the extension.
Illias wasn't the key

For those that watched all the KOE cup, would Kyle have done a similar, better or worse job than Illias in Cup? I have no idea just asking. I just went off articles and most times he was mentioned. Maybe it was Anasta writing the article.

The Dragon's should come out like other clubs do when they don't want players and say Ilias is free to leave if he can get a better deal. We will then see how many top 8 clubs will be clamouring for his services as their starting half.

Anasta & Illias should both be grateful we gave him a chance once he was punted by the bunnies & no other team really wanted him. Anasta doesn't say those things without approval from Illias imo. I understand his anger when Flanno threw him under the bus but he's only hurting his career with his avg performances in Cup. Illias isn't good enough to sook.

BTW Anasta was also imo a bit disrespectful to the Storm when they were trying to re-sign Munster through talking about him & potential suitors in the media. Storm were key in Munster's development into a rep player & Anasta was happy to throw them under the bus in the media spotlight, rather than advocating for his player behind closed doors in a respectful manner.

Yeah I half expect that Ilias will be taking our coin again next year. I can’t see any other team poaching him.
Our only hope is England, but if he isn’t ready to go there we will have him again.
Souths got Sullivan on loan from the Tigers. One wonders why we didn't get Ilias on loan from Souths.

In any case, Ilias would have to be on a low wage as he was out of action for most of 2024.

The thing is that the Dragons do need a cheap backup half and so, Ilias fills that bill. Flanagan is not a halfback and neither is LKT. We don't really know if Atkinson is a halfback either. Reed will be our long term half once the coach deems him to be ready for first grade.

Its such a conflict of interest having Anasta host NRL 360 and also a player manager. He can talk up or down who he wants to cause conflict and weasel in his clients.

Also, as a player manager he is meant to advocate for his players and get them the best deal.

How does it help his player, being stuck behind Hughes and Munster, when another club with money to spend and availability could have him walk into a starting 7 jersey on a great deal. Just because he 'doesnt like the club' the fkn sook ever since we beat him in 2010. You are not advocating for your client. You are acting against their best interests.

Wasn't Ilias , got found out as soon as he didn't have the players around him . They won one from six to finish the season . Players come back and they're killing it again . They were better with LKT . IT'S NOT ILIAS !!

As does mine. They’ll have fire in the belly this week for sure
Personally I think they may struggle after such an emotional rollercoaster of a game, they'll be filthy they didn't ice it and the idea of having to travel to Melbourne wouldn't fill them with confidence. I hope they beat the gummies, but the best possible scenario happened for those flogs with the game going for an extra 15 minutes or so. It would have been so physically and mentally draining on the Raiders. It sort of fells like the winner of last week's game will be the ones to go on with it, and with Walsh on the run he's on they'll be hard to stop. I'm hoping if Reynolds and Mam come back they'll all get in each others way a bit. A too many cooks situation.

After the year we've had I don't think I would cope with Hunt winning the premiership.

Anyone but Brisbane for mine...

I wouldn't mind scooping up Jacob Alick from the Titans (he's been released). He's got some raw talent which hasn't developed as it might've on the Gold Coast, has played a bit of lock/middle, is a big body (192cm) and is 25 - still in the prime years for a middle forward. Plus being a PNG rep when Flanagan was involved with them might provide some familiarity. Ideal for that M Molo/BMM/Fifita section of the roster

We have enough juniors with potential coming through already. What we need now is a marquee prop. Afterwards, we need to sort out our squad and at the possibility of moving some tiered legs around or indeed move them on if they don't want to shift to another position.
