More possible now that ilias has gone, just depends if there is anyone else we are chasing.. Hugo the obvious one.

Campbell I think also solves the situation for 2026 atleast.. But still need someone for 2027.
Reed for 2027.

Campbell would be a great buy for the fullback position.
Move Gutherson to five-eighth.
Atkinson to halfback.
Kyle to 14
Cook at 9 in reserve grade.

There are certainly a few options in Hugo and Boyd. Let’s see if the club is serious about moving off the bottom of the ladder.

I’m betting we get neither, this ensures Flanno Jnr stays in the side.

This time last year they were talking up 2026 as the year. Next year it'll be 2028 and so on....
As a Dragon's fan, without hope for the coming season, what is there?

A vacuum filled with frustration, cynicism, negative agendas, 20/20 hindsight and, worst of all, pure sarcastic commentary bordering hate for the club.

I'll take the 'hope' every day of the week

I'd be ecstatic for Cambell
Position: Fullback, Five-eighth, Halfback

As a half with us to begin, I reckon his ability (potential ceiling) is higher than Metcalfs.
Should Reed develop as expected then we have a ready replacement for Gutho, assuming he will remain fullback 2026

Boyd's last two games against the Dragons and the State Challenge were exceptional- he may have had a checkered history to that point but is only 25 and he came good when it mattered -including a full range of long (40/20s) and short kicks for try assists in the air and along the ground. He was man of the match before half time in the State Challenge.

In the absence of the top echelon half backs like Pezet and Metcalfe, he is the next best option in case Atkinson can't be the game manager we need and before Reed is ready.
Agreed. Boyd is very underrated , Dragons are my team and always will be . I grew up on the border at Tweed so have always followed the Tweed/Gold Coast teams and the missus is a kiwi so naturally when she moved here she moved to Coomera on the Gold Coast the west island of NZ as it's known lol. So second to the Warriors she is also a very big fan the Titans . We watch all of the Titans and Warriors games and Boyd is definitely no slouch . We both think he's better than Martin and on par with Harris but has the best boot of the three . The Warriors also have Jet Cleary coming up so someone has to go surely . If that's the case i would go for Boyd as a stop gap until Reed is ready and then keep around as a back up . He is only young maybe his best is still yet to come.

Paps is done. As soon as you start seeing players visibly frightened by contact and an unwillingness to take a hit.. they're done.

Campbell, Koula, Purdue, Fa'alogo just off the top of my head would be better options in the same position.
The more I think about it, yeah it's a pass. I would much prefer them over him, that's true. He would probably be after more $$ than all of them as well.

He has played 113 games over a 9 year span, I know he missed a full season or close to it with the knee but that means as an average, he has played 12.5 games per season over his career.
That's pretty bad.

Looking like he will sit out next year before joining R360 anyway.

Agreed.
Pappy looks broken to me.
Koula has real X factor and the ideal fullback replacement for Gutho.
Next level down Campbell followed by Purdue.
Plenty of quality available for 2027 to choose from.

Just off topic but as a raving mad Pasifika fan, it was still nice for me to hear Keon talk about pride in the kangaroo jersey.

He showed more pride than some players who don’t have an islander and heritage option!

I am sure he will opt for the heritage option at another time, but good on him.

Papenhauzen has left the Storm, throw the cheque book at him! Long shot I know but an offer to good to refuse wouldn’t hurt.

Watching him over the years at both Titans and Warriors, he seems to be the type of player that is very dominant in reserves but struggles a bit with the step up to firsts. What are your thoughts?
