If Vlandys is really a man of the rugby league people then he will rejig the whole application of the salary cap as it stands in 2025. The cap did its job fir a while but now we clearly see the star players rotate around the power clubs and those with 'influential' men at the helm. This is why Broncos were able to rebuild so quickly after a couple lean seasons, just for example.

Conversely, look how the same clubs flounder around unable to get anyone unless they offer half their cap. We, being the absolute worst of the lot.

Meanwhile, in other related news, Victor Radley will only miss 5 matches of the season (half the penalty he was punished with) because of his England rep games. Who didn't see that coming? We are not all fools who thinks this is a fair competition.
You do realise that was a Roosters imposed sanction yeah, it had nothing to do with the NRL...

Bulldogs and Tigers were basket cases at bottom of ladder not so long ago…. they have recruited massively compared to us in last 3 years…. so it’s not because we are a floundering club that we can’t recruit. Anderson may prove to be more savvy than Haran and Flano but it will take him some time to undo the previous da

From what I understand, Keaon, Hass, and Tino are not yet signed for 2027 and beyond. We have the following young forwards coming through:
Halangahu
Tonga
Stewart
Eagan
Nick T

Along with:
Kerr
Sele
Guler
Leilua - most probably move to the middle.
Suli - yes, I believe he will be an edge forward in 2026.

We have sufficient depth, and the above players will likely improve over the next two seasons; however, we do need a marquee prop to lead and guide them through. AFB was to be that prop. Now we need someone else, such as Tino or Haas.

Many teams have multiple marquee players; the Dragons have none. This is the one player we need to turn things around.

Toby Couchman and Ryan Couchman are also young. They are only 22. Suli won’t move to the backrow. He’s the biggest centre in NRL and can be a better asset if we spread the attack to the right side more often.

Dragons do have a marquee player and it’s Valentine Holmes. Australian and Queensland representative and a top 5 centre in NRL.

Su’A and Gutherson are class, especially Su’A who is an origin backrower. Cook, Liddle and Toby Couchman are great. I think Toby Couchman in 3 years will be an origin player. The elite youngsters Stewart, Egan, Loko, Halangahu, Ryan Couchman, etc will only get better.

All we need is 1 marquee signing soon whether it be a prop or halfback and Dragons will be a more attractive team to play for to lure more great players.

Agree the younger guys will be better for it being blooded this year , yes we need a marquee signing as you say , but for me it needs to be a smart game managing 7 with a good kicking game before a marquee forward ........ I think the young blokes the Couchman's can hold there own so without a 7 not sure whether we will win much more games with a forward rather than a 7 ......... That said I hope Atkinson can be that 7 we need ....... Anyway , time will tell and any topline player will do at this stage ..........

Yeah cool, double down on a statement you were incorrect about...

You do you.
You made an assumption that was incorrect. Certain clubs are taking us all for a ride. The NRL enables it.

Another example:

Ezra Mam, basically almost kills someone under the influence. Green light, play grand final few months later.

Jack De Belin. Case dismissed, innocent. Red light, rub him out for two years.

Yep, seens fair 👍

Yep, every club and player is treated equally, just some more equally than others.

The Mam ruling was weak from the NRL.

Simply embarrassing from a supposed professional sporting organisation.

I am not making an assumption, you are.
What I said is fact, the penalty was imposed by the roosters, it had nothing to do with the NRL.
The fact is Radley didn't actually do anything that they had evidence of to ban him for, they were messages on a phone. Roosters only did it because of the statement Politis made previously, though they still didn't have the balls to sack him.

I agree with you that the NRL are blatantly bias when it comes to who is penalised & how, generally just giving a slap on the wrist to players of the better clubs. Your example just one of many when it comes to that.

I will reiterate though because you don't seem to understand, the NRL did not sanction Radley, the Roosters did.

Big risk for both Pappy and Lomax, and others, especially if this new competition gets postponed, or never gets off the ground.
Not good for the depth of talent for the wider NRL pool of players either, with a couple of new teams joining in the coming years.

Zac Lomax released by Eels. Just breaking off to Rugby 360.

A leopard doesn’t change its spots
Well that most certainly surprises me , young Zachary up to his shenanigans once again, loyal , but only to the almighty dollar - the top dollar that is .

I wonder how Ryles is feeling about the man’s real character , took the grub in from the cold of WIN stadium into the more pleasant climate of Cumberland oval only to be snubbed after his first season.

Zach now joins the calibre of his other money hungry mates Mr. Hunt and Mr. Evans !
