What Tamale said and did is normal human behaviour. When people leave a job and resign is because they are after promotion, better pay and other similar factors. They usually say good things about their previous place of work. They ask their boss and colleagues if they can use them as referee, etc.Tamale wanted to stay and wanted a shot on the wing and stated if Lomax was leaving he wanted to stay
Flanno said he is not ready
Someone else thought he was ready
That someone else was right
Like Toby Sexton, O'Neill has probably read between the lines and worked out he has no future as a 7 at the Bulldogs with O'Sullivan, Wood and Galvin blocking his path. Has been captain of a winning junior rep team before his KOE experience and sounds mature for his 22years from his quoted remarks so imo, he's young and humble enough to continue improving. There were others I wanted the Dragons to pursue as back up to Atkinson but he's not the worst and at least we've recruited a specialist 7 rather than a 6 and a half. This does create an interesting paradox.
Our halves would then be
Atkinson, KFlan, LKT, Reed, O'Neill and Ah-Kee Quinn and Hammoud.
Ah-Kee is still some years away, but expect him to get a few games in Flegg after the Ball season finishes.
Atkinson and KFlan are supposedly a lock-in for at least the start of '26.
That would leave Reed, LKT, Quinn and d Hammoud and O'Neill for Cup duties.
It does add depth but not sure O'Neill would come off a recently signed upgrade to top 30 at the Bulldogs just to play Cup (again) even though we probably have signed him to a top 30 deal. What would be the advantage?
Tamale stated he wanted to stay Months before Lomax left , and yes what he did is Normal. What Tamale said and did is normal human behaviour. This plays day in day out in Australian workplace and RL players are at the end of the day employees of their club and they will leave.
The signing of O'Neill is a bit of a head scratcher for me.He is a half
The signing of O'Neill is a bit of a head scratcher for me.
Looks like he is coming here on the basis of a greater chance of making it as a top 30 squad player.
Obviously a lot going on behind the scenes with player negotiations.
Would be surprised if O'Neill has been signed to anything more than a supplementary contract.
Will wait to hear something official from the club in the coming days.
He's still making his way up Mt. KeiraEvery post the dragons do on socials there’s always someone mentioning no sign of Blake lawrie in photos. Anyone have an update? Have we finally moved him on? Or is he injured
Sounds like a decent replacement for GloverYeah this looks like more Galvin fallout to me, that deal rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way. Anyway who cares why he left the Dogs I reckon it’s great to get a decent young half in on a development deal and we’ll see how he goes, real competition for Cup spots now should boost effort and performance.
Then he will really live up to his moniker “ lucky” . Rated our most over rated player due to salary v performance, and rightly so.Bostock and Sloan seemed to come into the NRL roughly the same time. Saints clearly made the error in letting Bostock go and keeping Sloan. It should have been the other way around.
Agree with you @since77 was really hoping Sloan would be a future star at the Dragons but he has had way too many chances to improve his defence and nothing has really changed. Only thing Flanno can do now is leave him in KOE and only bring him up if he improves his defence significantly for a long run of games.
Not even the Perth Bears are showing interest in Lawrie and Sloan which they know would be easy targets to fill slots yet are not even talking to them. Anyway, 1 more year and they will be gone.
This year will be huge for Sloan, Lawrie, Guler and Luciano. If they have their usual standard seasons this could be their last run in the NRL. They need to step up. Unfortunately for Luciano , I can see him stepping up and having the odd standout performance and getting an extension, but then going back to his lazy ways.
Played lock for the second half of last season ApparentlyHe is a half
If he is big enough for lock, they might be thinking making him a 9/13. Muhleison did an ACL didn’t he?Played lock for the second half of last season Apparently
Just got info on illawarra leagues club site has been sold for a new 5 Islands tower development that was approved in november.
I think he is max 85kg O’Neil ?If he is big enough for lock, they might be thinking making him a 9/13. Muhleison did an ACL didn’t he?
I'm a little old to be a winger.Stop It!......Stop It.
Your do realises this is a "Rumours Thread" , in jest only.
Were not meant to talk about real signings and rumours.
Have some of you started your Xmas fluids a bit early.
Please lets take this thread back to the wingeing and complaints threat that we all respect.
If my memory serves me correctly, the Dragons have recruited 3 young halves for the 2026 season, none of whom, except Atkinson, is recognised as being a probable for NRL duties. Not so much weight or size but if he can defend in that position
