Yes he did Silverdale, I do recall the odd South’s poster mentioning Illias could go from hot to cold for extended periods. However he is gone and I wish the young man the best .

The less said about Lomax the better , only to say that after unceremoniously dumping 2 consecutive clubs I doubt that he will be able to do the same again . If he tries it at the Storm they may very well export him to New Zealand for life !
As you remember, it was Cook who vouched for Ilias’ footy sincerity to Flanno to sign him and there were a few early signs of promise before the rot set in.

And Cookie lost a lot of face as a commender. Looked embarrassed for awhile there following the sad failure.

But you’re right, it was never his Ilias’ mental desire, it was undiagnosed chronic clowns disease, that crept into his game. And seriously, good luck to him.

A career finish for the feckless Lomax at a soulless, heritage-free, robotic expression of a club who owes its existence to a man-child psychopath of a coach seems quite apt.

And I can’t reveal my sources, but those boys certainly party hard at their beautiful casino, with more security around them than there are photos of Trumpy (and Clinton) with Epstein.

Parra wants compo from lomax but parra enticed lomax to break contract with dragons. so who is the hypocrite Parra or Coach Jason Ryles. So what do the Dragons get out off it.
The Lomax deal happened with Arthur not Ryles.

So Ryles doing the right thing
1. Punting a malcontent.
2. Playing hard ball & ensuring that his club gets adequate compensation

What did our coach do?

That’s true.

BA sealed the Lomax deal over a beef stroganoff at his family home with his wife there.

The public courtship was a very disrespectful gesture to SGI.

By that time and unbeknownst to both of them, the eels had already decided to axe BA, but hadn’t moved formally.

I don’t think it was Flanno who necessarily let him go, as the decision to release him early had to be approved at higher levels. Webby and the brains trust just waved him goodbye. As you suggest, the meek surrender was wretched and the players revolutionary army studied the matter carefully( Francis says hello).

Richo let Galvo go cheaply with us, but our other incentive to punt him early was to avoid the legals thanks to our players being f**king stupid and bullying Galvo.

Parra don’t have the best track record of protecting the dragons interests. The “Mary scare” for example.

It is sad to see the less (recent) successful clubs devour each other, it would be better to have a gentleman’s agreement to fight the powers that be.

Anyway, I guess for his club legacy, Zac will have to be a 360 old boy one day. He might get invited to reunions and take in a beheading or two with his 4 wives.

We should review our decision to grant Lomax a release to the Eels. We should now claim compensation.

I am gob smacked that Gillis is trying to defend anything

Lomax has continually struggled to honour contracts

We have seen a fair few players and athletes over the years get itchy feet and listen to the wrong people

Lomax is one of those athletes sadly despite being a very very good winger

I’d be amazed if he ever became an elite FB

We did get compensated. We did not have to put up with his whinging and high opinion off himself. By freeing up cap money we got the better of the deal
As you can now see, the Eels will get all you say and MORE.

You can guarantee that, if the Dragons breached Lomax's contract, he would want to be compensated for the breach. So until clubs go for compensation when a player breaches a contract, this behavior will remain into the future.

The tragedy of Zac is that he couldn’t see what a good thing he had going under Flanno’s stewardship.

I don’t think he has become an especially better player or improved that much under Ryles.

To me he has stayed excellent but flatlined. The growth hasn’t been as profound.

Some players and coaches mix really well in terms of footy, alas, some don’t.

Flanno was the best thing that ever happened to Zac Lomax, he still owes him big time.

Agree. Flanno unlocked him as a player in his best position. He didn’t improve under Ryles, just did the same as what he had done. His manager comments on reasons for leaving should be withdrawn and he appologises for taking him away from the club that made him an Australian rep (he would/will never get there as either fullback or centre)

There is much comment about Zac Lomax. Pros: very fit and takes many carries/ has caught a few absolutely sublime high ball jumping catches for a try ( one pearl in SOO)/ good goal kicker/ goes ok in general play and has scored running a good angle Cons: comparatively slow for a backline player and not able to sprint away for mid to long range trys or breaks/ in lateral defence can be beaten by speedster opposition / prone to trying the miracle pass in wrong situations ( in fairness one occasionally sticks). IMO many better wingers, fullbacks, centres for coin he was being paid

He was reported to be going to receive $800k plus for 2025 from us. I think Flanno saw him as not being worth that amount and happy to wave him goodbye. Reported to be on $600k at Parramatta and speculate Ryles happy to see him go and find a better home for the $600 under his salary cap.

Good luck to Zac for the future.

Obviously I will
cheers for posting

The NRL should never write another press release talking about banning players. Because it was a lie.

It should also avoid any notion that agents will be de registered for being naughty. That was another lie.

The article talks about Vlandys wanting Zac back because he wants good players.

What he fails to realise that there’s only so much shite fans are going to cop.

Why doesn't he understand 99.9 % follow clubs not players and we expect at least a modicum of loyalty and dignity for our trouble?

He’s finally forgot the common fan and needs to f**k off to his racing game.

I wonder where he plays at Melbourne if that happens? If he goes back to Centre it could be very interesting. My bet is that under the Storm system, he will thrive. Most of the dumb stuff he did like the no look passes, overly aggressive tackle finishes, moodiness if things weren't going his way, will be wiped out by Craig Bellamy. He has a way of turning individuals into team players. If this happens with Zac we could well see the best of him this season. A quick winger outside him and things could really happen.

Personally I think it was pretty mutual between him and Flanagan, I was a bit upset at the time as I liked him as a player but was happy to go with Flanagan's judgement, he decided not to fight for him to stay and fair enough.

I'm not really across the details at Parra but by the looks of it they released him so he didn't breach contract as some commentators have been saying. He would've been offered mega bucks to move to Rugby 360, life changing money. Looks like the Parra contract may have been terminated before Rugby 360 committed to him so some naivety there from him or his agent, unless they paid him some kind of cancellation fee when the competition start date was postponed.

I know a lot of people hate the guy. I don't. Sometimes I like to watch the game through my 13 year old's eyes. Zac's still his favourite player, despite all the bullshit that's happened. He just loves watching him sprint forward to get under that high kick, what a sight that is. It's a simple game really, but we do like to complicate it.
