I’m 70 and been following St George since my father took me to a St George game when I was 6 and I’ve been a St George fan ever since. This is the worst I’ve ever experienced, even worse than when they looked at merging with the Rorters.
I'm a bit older again so we have endured the same shit but lucky for me I got a couple of extra seasons of the good stuff.

We have had lots of dark periods over the years but despite the darkness, some little rays of sunshine would pop up in amongst it, if only to give the faithful at little a glimpse of what being good looked like. Whilst some of those players during those days were pretty ordinary, they at least came off the paddock having spilt blood to the very best of their ability.

Now the darkness has engulfed us so heavily we only get glimpses of how pathetic we can be and TBH I don't think we have seen the worst of it yet.

To think that we have no structure, no cohesion, no set plays, no combinations makes me think there is an evil purpose in what is transpiring.

I'm sort of glad that there are only a few of the greats left as before too long extinction looks highly likely.

Old Timer I match you. At 77 I have followed Dragons all my life as I grew up in Arncliffe and lived up the street from Tiger Black. Tutored his daughter, Lyn, some time while going to school.
I enjoyed the great years and have kept up hope of a return to some glory but am disillusioned with how we have fallen so badly. Certain commentators say do not sack the coach but all we supporters see is failure and when we see the same ordinary players picked despite losses without any changes for youth, what are we expected to do other than voice frustration especially when we see young players when not given some opportunity to perform in top grade.
Gee I hope things are sorted out soon.
I will always support Dragons but it might be one more subdued.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes I think a three year deal at $1 million a season is overs for Drinkwater who actually turns 30 in May next year.

Gutho turned 30 the year he got here and now we're regretting that one.

If we can't get Drinkwater on a shorter deal for less or alternatively Bula which I think is pie in the sky at best, Id prefer we either try to find a young fullback either from our system or externally, otherwise remake Val or Atkinson in to a fullback. Val still has speed so not as much of a risk IMHO.
Pros: Drinkwater although 29 this year is in much better shape than Gutho was. Nowhere near a broken down player. Still attacks like a beast: example last 3 weeks. Can play 1 or 6 easily.

Cons: A lot of $$$, we have little choice, let’s be honest. No chance of jagging him on anything less than 3 years. Big problem, but what choice do we have realistically?

If we can get him then get it done. Burton is the future no doubt but the kid is 17 years old.

It seems to me that there a lot of people working at our club who just wouldn't have a clue.

Storm had Pezet and Fa'alogo hidden in reserves for 1-2 years and nobody called for them to go elsewhere to get a start.
We have LPT and the journo's are crying out he should leave the Dragons to get a start elsewhere.
The Dragons are losing the narrative because of weak leadership and management plus i dare say so many journos and NRL identities want the Dragons to be the next Bluebags!
“ The next Bluebags “ - our former coach Brian Smith said something quite similar a number of years ago Shiloh dc when the Dragons courted him for yet another stay at the club . He said that our club had the smell of decay about it as Newtown did before their demise and it would appear that is exactly what is occurring now .

Such as a damn shame .

Don't give them any ideas...........Would fit in perfectly in our current pack of forwards.

I can tell you one thing getsmarty young Humphrey at least looks the part and would quite easily fit in with the other clowns that now occupy the board room , in fact although deaf and dumb he would undoubtedly be the brains of the outfit .

Flanagan musn't rate Willie T very highly when he said he didn't have anyone better to bring up.

GF last year and leading the comp this year must mean Willie T can do miracles with all the crap left over after Flanno picks the eyes out of the top 30.
Just another load of rubbish to come from his mouth to try and place the bar so low that an ant could get over it. Just f**k him off before we lose some really promising juniors. Anzac Day sacking can’t come quick enough
